Rating: Summary: To be understood I brough a cover against the world. Review: This book is very good, exellent,I think that the author only tries to show us the hard road of being understood into this world of caos.
Rating: Summary: The Metamorphosis is a great book Review: Here is one of those masterpieces that deserve to be to the side of cultural lightnings just like the Odyssey of Homer, the Hamlet of Shakespeare and the Don Quixote of Cervantes. Kafka always goes beyound his critics, and to correct some mistakes about him, I say he does not work with simbols, but with metaphors of our common and daily speech, that is why his works look absurd but delightful: because it is the most realist possible.
Rating: Summary: The most overrated book of all time Review: I read this book because of all the positive reviews it got. I heard so much of Kafka's genius and this book "The Metemorphosis" being his crowning achievement. Was I ever let down. The book is basically a short story, that you would find in "Science Fiction Digest." The book is full of symbloic meanings, but does that make the book a classic? The book is funny, absurd, and interesting. It's really not a bad story at all, but to call it one of the all time classic's in literature, I think not.
Rating: Summary: two word review Review: sh*t sandwic
Rating: Summary: An average high school student's book reveiw Review: I don't read many books but when I was assigned this book I was a little interested. I am a high school student at Healdsburg High school, and all the books they have assigned to us have been dull and a chore to read. This bbok on the other hand is one of two that I have actually enjoyed(the other is Tim O' Brien's "The Things They Carried"). Gregor Samsa awakes in his bed prepared to take on another day when he realizes he has been changed into an insect(I think its a cockroach, but you decide, theres a lot of controversy on what he really is). He then deals with this problem throughout the story, discovering who are truly his friends and family, and who can not look beyond the outside and see who Gregor really is.
Rating: Summary: It will give you Nightmares Review: The Metamorphosis is a magical book. I read it before bed one night and had a series of bizarre dreams. It displays vividly, the feelings of paranoia, guilt, and humility in a young man.
Rating: Summary: a magnificent tale of absurdity Review: this book is an extraordinary tale of the absurd, and it is filled with fear toward the patriarchal figure, kafka always seemed afraid of the figure of his father and in this book, the fear is avenged by becoming something which will shame the father and dishonor him. It is a great book. I hope people enjoy it and understand its further meaning.
Rating: Summary: don't read it in bed late at night Review: this was an absolutely fantastic book. incredibly surreal and absurd yet so tragic and touching.
Rating: Summary: You need to look behind it Review: You don't understand what this book is about if you don't take the time to think about it. It isn't just a plain story, everything is symbolic and that's how you have to look at it. We all know that it's absurd, that nobody will turn into a bug overnight, but there are things that could change in you life and make people look at you as no good anymore. Inside you're still your real self, but people are so obsessed with looks, they don't care anymore. Maybe even your own family... I think this is a very interesting book that makes you think.
Rating: Summary: Best Book of my Life! Review: The Metamorphosis is Kafka's great work! It makes me thought about my past days and my future. Kafka is Now one of my historic Hero! I can say to You, "If You didn't read this book, You won't live more worthful Life anymore."
