Summary: Rainy Weekend Book
Review: You'll read this book in one weekend because you won't be able to put it down. Very few stories actually make me cry, and I read a lot! But rereading the last line of this book over and over, I found myself with tears in my eyes. Not because the story is a particularly sad one - it really isn't - but because this little girl seems to see the world so clearly and in her young way, is able to open our eyes to look at the world the way she sees it - simply and logically. Ellen is hope in a hopeless world.

Summary: Couldn't put it down............
Review: I was given this book as a Christmas Gift and finished reading it the next day. What a survivor Ellen was! This is one book I will definitely be passing along to my friends and family. You can not look at things the same after reading a story like this!

Summary: I couldn't put it down.
Review: I sat down in a comfy chair at the bookstore, intending to read the first chapter. Before I knew it, the sun had set and I had finished the book. From a very young age Ellen is able to decide what is best for her, from general nutrition and clothing buying, to finding herself a new mama. Her self-confidence is almost overwhelming. A must-read for anyone who needs to be reminded of the resiliancy of children.

Summary: A moving story!
Review: This book was excellent! I read it with my mother and we both cried our eyes out. It deals with so many issues and doesn't avoid anything. The author has a unique style of writing that is very effective in the telling of this story. It is the kind of book that makes you feel sad, proud, frustrated, and wonderful all at the same time! I recommend this book to all. It won't be forgotten!

Summary: Wonderfully heartwarming!
Review: By the end of this book I was crying my eyes out. I have never been this moved by a book. A friend loaned it to me and said she'd watched Oprah's interview of the author and that the book was actually the author's life! Knowing that has made me appreciate it that much more. I plan to read it again soon.

Summary: NO MORE TEARS
Review: NIGHTMARES, TEARS, STARRING INTO SPACE, exhumed much of my childhood due to a life in many ways worse than Ellen's and yet in some ways better than Ellen's. There were expisodes in this book that my brain would seem to stop functioning and take me back to times I tried to forget. IT took a lot out of me to see the film, but to read the book, gave me time to digest and put behind some of those events in my past as a Foster child. I slept last night. THANK YOU.

Summary: Ellen Foster, strong, couragous, loveable, liveable.
Review: Ellen Foster is indeed a short novel, yet "old Ellen's" life is forever lingering in my mind. Kaye Gibbons wrote an incredibily lovable novel, one that is sure to steel your heart and give you strength. We all have troubles in our lives, and most of the time we wished we could change ourselves or our situation. I do not recall Ellen Foster ever wishing to be a different person, yet she strives to better her life and condition after her mother passes away. Ellen has given me comfort and strength to look into my own past and gain strength and knowledge from it. Ellen Foster is a book I encourage all who can absorb the love of one's true life of independence and courage.

Summary: Adolescent innocence and understanding.
Review: As a college student, I rarely find the time to read good books not included in my class required reading. Ellen Foster looked appealing to me on amazon.com and the reviews looked great so I ordered it and read it, it was awesome. It is amazing that such a little book could leave such a great impression. I immediately gave it to my 14 year old sister to read because I think it tells an amazing story about the innocence and understanding of adolescence, a story not well told in many places today. The author truely captured the unique way in which we all used to view the world before we "grew up".
