Summary: It was real to life
Review: When i read this book i was 15. I felt as though someone had taken a part of my life ( that at that time no one knew about ) and wrote it down. I was not alone. I was not the only one that thought of ways to hurt my father. This book may be fiction, but to a lot of people it is close to reality

Summary: overwhelming briliance
Review: Ellen Foster held my attention from the very first momement that I opened the book. The story is told through such a small voice but an altoghether powerful one Ellen has a power and a grown up voice. Kaye Gibbons spells the story out without softing the blow of the impact of the actions she does a marvellous job and I found myself crying laughing but alltogher empathising wanting to grab Ellen by the hand and tell her that it would all be ok In The end. Well done Kaye keep up the good work

Summary: Heartwarming and Inspirational
Review: Ellen Foster is about a young girl who grows up in an abusive family. It takes you through her life and shows you what she had to live with. I was very impressed with the way Kaye Gibbons expressed Ellen's feelings. I recommend it for everyone to read.

Summary: You have to root for little Ellen
Review: On one level, this is nothing but a manipulative little tearjerker, but Ellen is so vivid and pain-ridden you forgive the author for pulling your chains and just wish the heroine the best. A sweet little book.

Summary: It was great!
Review: This book is a one of a kind, all around clasic. If you have not already read it you really should. It is the type of book you just can't put down. It is a breath taking story about a girl in a messed up family who has to learn how to deal with feeling guilty of commiting a crime that she did not commit.

Summary: Heart-felt and warm
Review: This book touched my heart in every single way...Everything was so real, and imaginable. I laughed, cried(many times), and even yelled at the book. I have never read a book like this one in my whole life. Kaye Gibbons really hit the spot when she wrote this novel!

Summary: great
Review: Thank you Kaye Gibbons. Ellen Foster is a book that I could not put down. Old Ellen is a persona that grabs your heart, and doesn't let go. I had to check the title page a few times to be sure that this is a work of fiction. So real are the characters, that I believed them to be true.

Summary: It's all your fault, Ellen.
Review: A few minutes ago as I'm reading the last page of the book, my 17 year old son walks into the room and stops and stares at me. I finish the book and look up at him and say, "Hi." He returnes the favor and walks away. I just smile at how odd he can seem at times, when I feel a tear on my cheek. I put my hand up to my face and find more than one. He was probably shocked as he has never seen his dad's eyes "leak" before. It's a book I won't forget... Dan Hart

Summary: It was an okay book.
Review: I'm afraid that I found this book to not live up to the hype that was delivered by so many different sources. I will agree that it portrayed Ellen well, as well as some of the other characters, but I just did not like it. I thought some attempts at humor completely ruined the mood of a scene in an otherwise somber place in the novel.

After reading this book, I will say that it offered a new perspective on Ellen's and other Foster children's situations, but again, I return to the fact that some bad elements caused me to get an overall negative feeling about the book. I suppose that I may be a bit harsh in such a low grade, but this is truly how it felt to me.
