Summary: OK for some light entertainment but don't expect to think
Review: Wilbur Smith does it again with fast and furious, hero and heroine, good guy bad guy, soap. I always enjoy reading Smith's novels because I know what to expect and I always get it. Dynamic, roller coaster stories in which you can sit back, be entertained and have it all explained to you (as if you couldn't work it out) in the end. A few holes in the plot, a willing suspension of disbelief as a "smart and cunning" hero fails to question the obvious, notoriously linear plots, and the predictable betrayal by the (Gasp) smart AND beautiful heroine (Sob), all can be happily glazed over in true Indiana Jones style. I do like the way Smith builds his historical frameworks in his novels; not quite Colleen McCulloch but sufficient to lend credibility to the central concepts. These novels are great intermission pieces in your reading adventures. Enjoy

Summary: The best book I have ever read!
Review: This book rates above 10, once I started it I could not put it down. The characters are expertly developed and the story line is impecable. There is twist after twist and that just keeps you reading. This book should carry a warning because once you pick it up you will have no life until you reach the last page

Summary: I have found a new author because of this book
Review: This is my first book by this author and was given to me by a friend. WOW!! This book contained all the fast paced suspense that kept me up until all hours of the night. Along with the suspense are many mysteries and historic facts all surrounding Egypt and a certain Pharaoh. The characters and events are all real and believable and the author's descriptive style left me with great visuals of every person and every place. A must read for anyone and I look forward to reading his other books

Summary: Excellent suspense - but his "River God" is even better!
Review: Exciting technique of combining history and contemporary times. Good character development. Both interesting and educational. Hope he writes a third in the series

Summary: Phenomenal!
Review: This book had one of the most dynamic and exciting plots of any book I had read all year. Wilbur Smith, an Englishman, has a superb vocabulary and a style quite different from Clancy, Grisham or King, but thoroughly enjoyable. If you like high adventure and searching for riches in remote outposts of the world, this book is for you. I HIGHLY recommend it

Summary: River God's action-packed sequel
Review: Brimming with action and intrigue, violence and passion. . . The Seventh Scroll will often have you biting your nails and holding your breath for the heroes of the story. From the very beginning Wilbur Smith pulls you in, keeping you hooked right to the end. Smith's spectacular descriptions fill this brilliant novel to overflowing with endless excitement and sheer, exquisite colour. This is one book you'll never forget

Summary: Fast-paced sequel to River God
Review: 7th Scroll captures you right from the start and keeps you the edge of your seat through the conclusion. It was a treat to discover that W. Smith set this Novel up by the River God. Smith graphically describes the flow of the Nile and the lands and peoples it cuts through while racing for the discovery of an inimaginable treasure. . . an unknown, unspoiled tomb of a Pharo.

Summary: Fun read
Review: Wilbur Smith's characters are purely fictional, and this is just a fun, fun read. This is the second book in the series, but I recommend reading River God and Warlock first (also very good), THEN reading Seventh Scroll as it takes place "present day" and the previous two books will give you the "historical" background for Seventh Scroll. If you liked the pure, simple fun of Indiana Jones, you will enjoy this book. Absolutely could not put it down towards the end!

Summary: Don't buy the Macmillan Audiotape
Review: The original River God audiotape was superb. The Macmillan Audiotape 3 hour abridged version of "The Seventh Scroll" sequel is pale and frustrating. So much has been cut out by the abridgement that much of the story's glory and flow is lost. This edition is a great disappointment.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Brilliant sequel
Review: I don't normally enjoy sequels, even those based on great novels ("Aztec Autumn", for example, was a disappointing follow up to the brilliant "Aztec"). But "The Seventh Scroll" is fantastic, probably the best sequel I've ever read. Very clever continuation of the "River God" storyline. Enjoyable even if you haven't read "River God", which I strongly recommend that you do.
