Rating: Summary: Looking Ahead...The Day You Die. Review: Trainspotting is without a doubt one of the most expressive and truthful accounts of drug addiction. Its gotta be the best book ive ever read and definitely the best movie ive ever seen. And if the book doesnt do much for you, Ewan McGregor in the movie will! Just read it already...you know you have nothing better to do.
Rating: Summary: Fan-bloody-tastic Review: A most incredible book, Trainspotting is something you'll either swear by or hate.... i'm among the former...although there's no real plot - just a mosaic of junkie experiences which develop character and involve the reader - the book is immersive from beginning to end... alright, initially the phonetic spelling is hard to understand... but eventually, once you get into it, you'll realise what a masterpiece this is. One of the top books of the 20th century.
Rating: Summary: This book will have you thinking in a Scotts dialect. Review: One of my all time favorites. I couldn't put it down. I found myself thinking in a Scottish accent for days aferwards. One of those books where the characters feel like real people. Where you find yourself wanting to converse with them. Careful readers will be able to identify each character by his thought and speech patterns. The Movie is good too, but read the book first. You won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: The Desecrated Souls of the Common Youth, at there prime!! Review: This book was written for attension, and sadly because of the obsessive nature of modern man, it was a "hit". Well, for anyone looking to read a good book, this is not a great example. In this cliche of a world there are many who can write to change the "great popular tide", but lets look closer at what our society calls brillience. Trainspotting was an instant classic, but in my opinion, in the "not-so-great" collection, which will resonate in future years as a typical 1990's book (is this how we want to be remembered?).
Rating: Summary: Simply the best book that I have ever read Review: On the cover of my copy of Trainspotting there is a claim that this is the best book ever written: I could not agree more. I don't think that I have ever been more challenged by the language of a novel and, yet, so satisfied. Since I read Trainspotting I have also devoured Acid House and Ecstasy. All I can say is "Wow." These books, and others like Football Factory by John Ford, offer an insight in British life that is unparalelled. Trainspotting pulls out your guts and stomps on them. The violence, the drugs, the sex is simply mindblowing. My only complaint is that after reading Welsh's work my own visions of becoming a writer flew out the window.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: I don't think anyone could truly explain how amazing this book is. It is a fast paced, extremely intense look into the lives of junkies. Once you start reading this book it is impossible to put down. Trainspotting is beautifully written. Irvine Welsh is a genius! I am hooked (notice my email).
Rating: Summary: Likesay, awesome. Review: This book takes you on a wide journey around the mind of a junkie. It is amazing. I think it is hard to describe how intense this book is, but I have to warn you that it is graphic. When you start reading the book, you won't stop, although you may have to take a reality check at times to make sure you aren't depressed out of your mind.
Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! Review: While seeing previews of "Trainspotting" the movie I wondered what it was all about. I went out and purchased the book. Since I had seen the previews I had faces to put with the names in the book. As I started reading I realized that I couldn't put it down. I went through many emotions while reading this novel: sadness, joy, fear, and understanding. I recommend reading the book before seeing the film, but if you've already viewed it I highly recommend reading the book for a better understanding of the film. Altogether I've read the book, saw the movie, and I own the soundtrack. In a word WONDERFUL!
Rating: Summary: I have read a book and it changed all my life Review: This book catches and effectes a person in a way i could not know.It just gets hold of you and when you finish the book you are not decided whether you should laugh or cry. It's so difficult to be a teenager these days and this book seems to be a reflection of your very own and personal life. Well it's just to difficult to keep the faith these days. Addicts:re-read the book with the two trainspotting soundtrack cds in your player and experience it once more!
