Summary: Intense!!
Review: When Brenda L. Thomas read the prologue to Threesome at an afternoon Montsho Booksigning, I knew I had to buy the book to finish the story...and I did that very night! This is an exciting, easy-to-read, page-turner that anyone can enjoy.

The story is largely narrated by Sasha Bourianni, an attractive 38 year-old executive secretary whose affair with a married man triggers a series of events that sends her life into a whirlwind that includes a career change (a personal assistant to an NBA star), relationship issues with her employer, her ex-lover, and the new love of her life. This is a short novel (about 130 pages) but the author gives us enough background on each character to help us understand their motivation and get into their psyche. For example, Sasha's views of self worth stems from a life-long longing for her mother (who died while giving birth to Sasha) and a childhood of being raised by a hustling, swinging father. Quite naturally, these experiences and unresolved issues shapes her adult ideologies on men, love, and sex and eventually explains her constant self-destructive behavior.
The supporting cast of characters was interesting as well and some had a few secrets and drama of their own to keep your nose in the book. I will admit, that based on the title and subtitle, I didn't think it would be the type of book I would want to read. But after the first few pages, it was clear that my preconceived notions about the book were wrong. I was hooked from the very beginning through the very end. This is a perfect book for a lazy summer afternoon...

Summary: Involved in a Threesome of My own.
Review: I was involved in a threesome of my own: this book, the Sandman and myself. The Sandman had to wait on me because I was up until 4:00 AM finishing this fast-paced, sexually charged novel titled Threesome: Where Seduction, Power and Basketball Collide.

Meet Sasha, a thirty-something modern woman, who finds herself in one of the most unthinkable situations and then proceeds to let her life spin completely out of control. Men, money, and self-destructive behavior aids in her hurricane funnel and one could never predict where it would touch down. Walking through Sasha's life as an observer, I found myself talking to her the whole time, but she never listened.

Brenda L Thomas tells a fascinating tale of a woman who struggles through life making poor choices that have heartbreaking consequences in this 138 pg. novel. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and didn't let go until she was through with me. I appreciated the narrative of different points of views and the tact that was used in racy sex scenes. This was a quick and easy read. My only disappointment came at the end, whereas a reader, I recognized it couldn't have possibly ended any other way but I still wanted something more. This book may not be for everyone because of the sexual content. If you don't mind that then you will enjoy this.

Summary: The Dangerous Three: Power, Money and Sex
Review: Threesome, the debut novel by Brenda L. Thomas is captivating right from the start. Sasha Borianni is a smart and sexy thirty-eight-year-old woman who is involved with Cole, a married man. After a night of passion, she thinks she hears something and turns toward her bedroom's doorway. Standing there with a loaded gun is Cole's wife Paulette. Cole, who is lying next to Sasha, wakes up and before he can ask any questions, the gun goes off.

This scene sets the pace not only for the novel, but also for the rollercoaster ride known as Sasha's life. After the traumatizing shooting, Sasha tries to get her life back on track, but it's difficult. The media will not let the story die plus her bedroom is a constant memory, forcing her to sleep downstairs.

When she is offered a dream job opportunity as a personal assistant to Phoenix Carter, one of the NBA's hottest players, Sasha jumps at the chance for a new career and a new beginning.

Although Phoenix is engaged to be married, he lives the fast life that many million-dollar making athletes lead. When he's not on the court, it's all about extravagant parties, fancy cars, expensive jewelry, and of course sex, and lots of it. At twenty-three years old, he is barely older than Sasha's son Owen, but she finds Phoenix irresistibly sexy and before long, the two are involved in a torrid affair. Not only is Sasha on-call as his assistant, but also she is at his beck and call in terms of sex. Although she feels guilty about her relationship with Phoenix it definitely has its perks, such as the Lexus SUV she now drives and other fine gifts including a diamond tennis bracelet. However, what she really wants is true love with a man that only she can claim. But does she deserve such a love?

Trent seems to think so. Trent, who Sasha meets at her best friend's house, is a handsome electrician who is the same age as Sasha and a romantic at heart. Inevitably, they quickly fall into a whirlwind romance. With political aspirations, Trent appears to be her dream man, but he has issues of his own. Unbeknownst to Trent, Sasha is sexually involved with Phoenix and can't say no. When she finally tries to end the affair, it turns out to be a dangerous decision.

Threesome is a page-turner that gives a glimpse of the fast life of professional athletes. At the same time it presents the interesting perspective of "the other woman." The biggest plus is the author's characterization of Sasha. Readers will love her or hate her and will certainly question "what is going on with this lady? Is this a midlife crisis at its worst?" The negatives about the book include the excessive name dropping of designer brands. Also, some parts of the novel, such as the lesbian encounter, seemed to be thrown in purely for shock value. All in all, Threesome is a good, fast read with intense sex and an unforgettable protagonist.

Summary: WOW!!!!!!!!
Review: I have seen this book online for years with excellent reviews but it has never really caught my eye. I happened to read an excerpt off the computer and I was open after one page. There are so many mediocre Afican American fiction books at this time that sometimes you pay good money for an enjoyable read and it ends up being a waste but not with this book. In this book Brenda weaves a wonderful tale of infidelity, suicide and seduction. This book answers the question why??? do people CHEAT. This is the first book that I have ever read where it really makes you feel sorry for the mistress and the adulterer. My only gripe with this book was that it was to short and didn't really have an ending. I am anticipating the sequel Fourplay. If you don't read anything else this year pick this book up up.

Review: Brenda L. Thomas was on the morning show of a Philadelphia radio station talking with Miss Jones about her book. Miss Jones hyped the book to be the best she had read and she read it in a matter of hours. That same day I was compelled to purchase the book. When I got my hands on this work and opened the first page it was impossible to put the book down. I bought, read and finished the book in the same day. I recommend this book to everyone and I have never heard anyone speak words of dissapointment. This is an excellent book! Everyone should own a copy to read as often as they like!

Summary: Sasha's Way
Review: In Threesome we are introduced to bad girl Sasha.
But is she really bad or is it just the situations she's found herself in that are bad?
I enjoyed the flow of this book and was amazed at how much was covered (without being bogged down) in so few pages.
Brenda kept it hot, no doubt, but also kept it real with a variety of characters who made up Sasha's world.
Thanks also for giving us some insight into what "could" go on
in the NBA life.
Definitely looking forward to a 4-some from Ms. Thomas!
