Summary: A total kick in the pants
Review: A terrific story, incredible characters, masterful writing. What else could I ask for? I adored this book, and also found a perfect Father's Day gift.

I can hardly wait for the movie.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It really is a "minor miracle of fiction," just as...
Review: ...the book jacket says. With so little time to read (I'm an orthopedic surgeon), I have to pick books carefully, and chose this one because of the review I read in Kirkus. Just finished it this morning and it's still haunting me. I am a golfer, and thought I knew it all, but after reading this beautifully written story, I think I might just fall in love with the game all over again. It's sure to become a classic, not just of golf fiction or sports fiction, but on its own as a novel.

Summary: Terrific - even if you don't like or understand golf
Review: My husband read this book in one day and begged me to read it. I don't even like golf but I agreed to at least start it. I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it, the writing was so good and the story was amazing. I could picture all these characters so clearly and I hate to say it but I think I may even start to understand something about golf. I'm going to get some more copies to give as gifts.

Summary: Maybe THE best sports novels I've ever read
Review: Never mind that the subject is golf - it could just as easily have been tiddlywinks. The insights into human nature are profound, but it also works as pure entertainment. Offhand I can't think of any other book that made me laugh so hard and yet still brought a lump to my throat. Eddie Caminetti will surely go down as one of the most memorable fictional characters ever created.

Summary: A story as memorable as your best round ever.
Review: If Harvey Penick and Dan Jenkins collaborated on a book, THE GREEN would be the result. Mixes the golfing wisdom of Penick with the irreverence of Jenkins, all woven into a tale that surprises on every hole. The Ryder Cup will survive THE GREEN, but it will never be the same. Don't miss.

Summary: Not just a novel
Review: This book is so much more than a novel - for the average weekend golfer, there's also a lot of little lessons in here, for use both on and off the golf course. I read this, The Foursome and Scratch in less than 3 weeks with the latter 2 offering yet more thoughtful insight into the game of and what motivates us to play it. Eddie Caminetti is my new hero!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great book. Well worth the money.
Review: Whether you play golf or not, this is a great read. Story line moves fast and characters are engaging.

If you do play golf, well... let's just say you are in for a real treat. This book is so well written that you can almost smell the fresh cut grass of putting greens.

Scratch and Foursome from the same author are also great read.

Summary: Troon Hits an Ace
Review: Outstanding book, whether you love golf or not. If you're not into the sport, the book is still a great piece of writing, but if you are a golf lover, you'll fly through this one. You'll recognize characters from familiar names on the PGA tour, and will understand fully each twist and turn. Won't give up anything regarding the plot - it is summed up nicely on the back cover. Read and enjoy, and I guarantee you will move on to the author's follow-up, The Foursome.

Summary: THe greatest golf book ever written.
Review: The Green is easily the finest golf novel ever written (or at least that I have read). I have read this book at least a dozen times. While it may not be the most realistic of books it is very entertaining and the characters are so likable or for that matter dislikable. Troon McAllister is a great writer who is able to progress with his enrapturing story in most unique and least expected of ways.
