Summary: Great Golf Literature
Review: This is one of the best golf novels out there. After you finish reading Missing Links by Rick Reilly, pick up a copy of this gem. When you can't get out to the links, read this book and you will be satisfied.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful! One of the best of its type
Review:

This is a masterfully crafted, hysterically funny and profoundly moving golf story that, thankfully, doesn't treat the game as some kind of religion. Down to earth characters, a lot of suspense and thrills, and not a few lessons about life to boot. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Just read one of this author's books under his real name (Lee Gruenfeld). Very, very different but no less wonderful. My plan now is to read them all.

Summary: Not Very Realistic
Review: This book is fiction and fantasy with a capital F. If you did not like Tin Cup because of its unrealistic ending you will not like this book. While Troon McAllister is familiar with the golf lingo he has made his Ryder Cup story so far fetched and unrealistic that it is no where near believable. Save your time and money.

Summary: Pretty good.
Review: A fun book about golf, gambling and human nature. Any book that makes you wish you could meet one of the characters (Eddie) can't be bad.

Summary: I read it during boring conference - big mistake!
Review: I bought this book in a hotel newstand before going into a boring sales meeting, started reading it and got so absorbed I forgot where I was. Not too bad until I started laughing out loud, and had to leave the room. Read it before the day ended, passed it around...biggest hit of the conference. Truly terrific piece of work.

Summary: A Good Book Spoiled
Review: This was a well written book spoiled by the constant cursing, swearing and obscenities. I've played golf for years and with all different types of players. Rarely have I ever met one who constantly uses that type of language. Almost ALL the characters in this book do. Obviously, this detracted from the story for me. Also, the ending was a stretch for me to believe. Eddie C. and Al were such intelligent golfers, how could they miscommunicate on the most important golf match of their lives?

Summary: Laughable yet thought provoking golf yarn
Review: My daughter got this book for me for Fathers Day, and what a great day that was. I laughed out loud so many times in the first few pages, I had to go to another room to read. As a golf fan and occassional player, I enjoyed it immensely, I learned a little about my own swing that I can improve on, and I learned some interesting life lessons. a thoroughly enjoyable book from cover to cover.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: While Mr. McAllister has certainly written an exceptional and worthwhile tale for anyone who has ever lined up 10 footer with money on the line I believe most avid golfers will agree that the final sting left much to be desired. Without giving away the ending I believe there were a myriad of other hustles that the author could have used. It was totally amateurish and did not fit with Eddie's character. However, Eddie is still my hero and the book follows a very close second to Bagger Vance.

Summary: Troon Makes an Eagle
Review: This story started out with birdies, shot par and a bogie or two in the middle chapters and made an eagle at the end to save a great story. I recommended this book to golfing friends after reading the first few chapters. It was clever and funny and once I accepted the premise, that an honest and honorable golf hustler could be asked to play and ultimately lead the U.S. Ryder Cup team, I thought I was reading one of the best sports' novels ever. There seemed to be a slight letdown and the story became a little silly once "Alternate Shots" and "Best Ball" matches started. However, the Individual Matches and of course the explanation for Eddie's behavior salvaged the story and caused a pleasant feeling and smile to cross my face. This is the kind of story that will be recalled with a chuckle and highly recommended to others.

Summary: Even better than The Foursome
Review: I read The Foursome first, which I thought was just terrific, then found out about The Green, which blew me away completely. I wish I could buy one for everyone I know. Can't recommend it highly enough.
