Summary: And incredible epic classic
Review: I was totally clueless when it came to the subject of "The Godfather" up until about one week ago. I had never seen the movies, though, truth be known, I always wanted to. I had never read the book, but it was one of my mother's favorites. Now, a week later, I have veiwed our copies of "The Godfather", parts I and II, at least 5 times each, and rented (and saw) part III. A day ago I took a walk down to the local used book store and bought the last copy they had of the book, a crappy second hand copy of "The Godfather", printed somewhere around 1971 (A book almost exactly twice as old as me) theat was all but falling apart in my hands. Today, I finished the book and am going at it for a second time. I found it informative, but don't take that the wrong way. Some people say "it was informative" as a way of saying "it was as boring as anything" less bluntly. But I don't mean it that way at all. What I mean is that it told more about the MAFIA than any other book I have ever read. And it was very, VERY interesting. I was captivated by it. If it weren't interesting, why would I read it twice? I am Italian and, at one time, some of my family had been involved with the Cosa Nostra. Not the whole family, but a few people. And so, for my thirteen years, I have been very interested in organized crime and the likes. I read history books to learn about it, but I did not expect to get so much information from a novel as I did from The Godfather. I got this book to read for pleasure, not for more info. I read it for the plotand I got much more than I expected. Well written, exciting, informative (did I mention that) and overall the most enjoyable book I ever read.

Summary: Unquestionably the best book ever writen in any genre.
Review: THE GODFATHER is literally the "encyclopedia of the mafia." Puzo gives detailed description unmatched by any author at any point in time. A never before seen/never matched again look at how a successful mafia family operates, reacts, and executes (in more ways than one) in real life. THE GOFATHER IS UNQUESTIONABLY THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!

Summary: The epic story of all time
Review: After seeing the moives many times and reading the book after, you cant help but agree how great this book is. When reading the book, you can picture Al Pacino or Marlon Brando saying the lines as you read them. This visualization adds a dimension to the book that cant be matched. This is probably the greatest novel ever written.

Summary: I couldn't put it down
Review: I bought it in the airport and I was curious, I had seen all the Godfather movies atleast 4 times. So when I read the book I was amazed how well written it was.In a 10 hour flight I read it all, I read it while I was eating, I hated putting it down. And some people may disagree, but I am happy I saw the movie first, because it gave me a better picture of what was going on and when Don Corleone made that speech in the peace meeting between all the Dons, just picture Marlon Brando saying it and the impact is a lot stronger. Also I was surprised on how the script for the movie is taken exactly from the book, which shows how Mario Puzo wrote so lifelike and clever.

Summary: THE GODFATHER IN MEXICO!!!
Review: I was recently in Canucn, Mexico on vacation. While in the pool with my son one afternoon, a very handsome, older Italian gentleman began to strike up a conversation with me. The subject of the mafia came up, which led to a conversation about "The Godfather" novel. I was astonished to learn that this man was a direct decendant of a mafia crime family, had changed his name and relocated, and said that everything in "The Godfather" was exactly how the Italian mafia conducted business. He also said that Mr. Puzzo would have HAD to have gotten permission to write the book from a mafia boss if he valued his life in any way. The stories this man told me absolutely chilled me to the bone. As soon as I returned home from Mexico, I read the book again and found correlations between some "stories" in the book, and some true - life incidents that Angelo told me about. What he told me, will never leave me!!! For any one who doubts the long arm of! ! the mafia and it's influence in the world today, think again!!!

Summary: A story the world will never forget
Review: This might sound like a cliche but the Godfather is, and will remain, one of the best books I have ever read.I am probably the only person on the face of the earth who has read the book before watching the movie but I must say that if you have only watched the movie than you should read the book because, although the movie for once is as good as the book, the movie leaves out many things you wouldn't want to miss. What made me want to read the book was watching The Last Don on TV and the next day I went to check out The Godfather from the library, and I couldn't put it down from the moment I came home. Now I'm reading The Last Don and loving it, because Marion Puzo is a born-authentic-storyteller and in Mafia stories NO ONE CAN COMPARE I don't think this book will get a bad review now or 20 years from now but if such a person exists then he is a FOOL!!!

Summary: The Godfather has to be one the best books i have read
Review: This book was just amazing, once I opened it I could not put it down. If you have seen the movie you must read the book because the movie is not even close to being as good as the book. I felt like I knew the characters, and was involved in the story myself. The story is about power and honor, things in life everyone can relate to, all though not in such a big way. You must read it.
