Rating: Summary: Love wolves but not the book Review: As someone who enjoyed The Horse Whisperer (except for the ending which I disliked in both the book and the movie) I couldn't wait to read The Loop. Especially since it was about wolves -- a subject I have intensely studied for more than 15 years. I ended up very disappointed in all areas. The book failed to make me "care" about any of the characters like I did about the girl and her horse in The Horse Whisperer. And although I appreciate the author's research of the wolf reintroduction program, he may have set public perception of wolves back by decades. Wolves do occasionally kill livestock but this story portrays the killing of domestic animals(and sometimes not even eating them) as a regular event. Wolf lovers purchasing this book be warned!
Rating: Summary: Love, nature, hate, and suspense all in one book! Review: The loop had everything a wonderful book needs. Love: The loop tells a tale of an unlikely romance that will capture heart everywhere. Nature: Like his previous book, Nicolas Evans shows the relationship between humans and nature. Hate: A town is torn apart beacause of the love and the hate of wolves. Suspense: An amazing ending filled with suspense.
Rating: Summary: The Loop was every bit a wonderful as The Horse Whisperer! Review: Evan's certainly knows how to write a captivating novel. His knowledge of wolves and detailed desciption of the studies was incredible. To be able to mix love and real life issues into the same book without going overboard or turning it into a completely sappy story is the mark of this great writer. All I can say is: "When's the next book due out?"
Rating: Summary: IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN WOLVES, YOU'LL LOVE THIS BOOK!!! Review: while it doesn't match the impact of his previous book, this one still can stand on its own as a page-turner albeit at a slower pace...i just found that this book had a calming effect on me, angered me at times and also made me laugh out loud...loved the characters and felt that their development was such that you understood the reasoning behind the december-may romance...get it, read it, enjoy it before the movie comes out! you'll be glad you did!
Rating: Summary: The Loop would make a so-so TV movie of the week. Review: It's too bad that Nicolas Evans can't carry off an entire novel. The first couple of chapters always get your interest and you want to keep reading, but fairly soon the characters seem dull and the story doesn't develop. After the first few chapters I was able to scan through the rest of the book just so I could get it over with, and return it to the person that loaned it to me. We wern't able to have a discussion about the book because there was nothing to discuss. A waste of time.
Rating: Summary: compelling Review: I read this book in one day, it was compelling, but it haunted me. The descriptions of the war against the wolves was more than I could take. I did like the book however.
Rating: Summary: "The Loop" shouts rather than "Whispers" Evans' talent! Review: I read this book on a trip to Hong Kong from Austin, Texas, and it kept me awake and totally interested in this story the whole 20 hours of the trip. This story of re-introduced Wolves causing problems with Montana ranchers held my interest through the characters that Nicholas Evans develops. The only thing I would have changed would be to age the subject of the wolf biologist love interest by at least seven years. This story should appeal to any one who enjoys reading about this beautiful part of the country, enjoys reading about wild animals, and/or just enjoys a good story. This should include a good number of readers. I will look forward to the next book from Nicholas Evans!
Rating: Summary: Another fantastic book by Evans! Review: I knew Evans couldn't rival his first book The Horse Whisperer. But I was not disapointed by this book, either! This is a different type of story. Its about a boy and the hardships that surround him and how he comes to deal with them to mature into an adult. It was quite obvious that Evans did his research into wolves as I was held spellbound by his accounts of the pack. I also found Evans writing style to be more mature than his first book and enjoyed the way he weaved his story telling into each chapter. I laughed and I cried. My emotions ran the gamut and I thoroughly loved the book!
Rating: Summary: Just started the book! But I love it any ways! Review: It's not often that I read a book! Only because I can't get into it! But after reading "The Horse Whispere" I had to get my hands on Mr. Evans second book (to knowledge), "The Loop." I will be back to tell you what I think when I finnish the book! Happy reading! ttfn Adam
Rating: Summary: Wait for the paperback Review: The Horse Whisperer blew me away. (The book, not the movie) The Loop was a nice story but I really expected more. As a devoted lover of wolves, I was entertained but not impressed or surprised. I never had the urge to flip ahead and read the ending. You know what is going to happen before it happens.
