Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: disappoited! Review: After reading all of the reviews for this book, I became excited and could not wait to read it. The excitement quickly faded into disappoitment after the first chapter. I compare all books in this genre to a few of my favorites- The Story of O, Justine, and Venus in Fur. The slave lacked eroticism and simply stated excitement. There was nothing that made me want to continue turning the pages besides the great reviews that it received.

Both my Dominate and I read the books together - and both found shared and non-shared perspectives in relation to each of the stories. I found the books in the trilogy to be quite well written, and was quite pleased that each followed the story quite well. As a trained submissive - i can relate to Robin and what she felt and her struggle in her submission. I would suggest reading these to anyone who is interested in D/s - although, I personally don't believe they are indicative of the real life aspects of D/s - in that there is so much more than this little window into O/our life.

Review: Chris Parker, the harshly self disciplined trainer, returns in the second book of the series to guide Robin, a woman whom rejoices in her need for servitude, into the mysterious underground world of Masters and slaves. Robin is trained and then ushered into a world where willing submissives are bought, sold and used at their owners discretion. For those readers that fell in love with the BDSM classic, the Story of O, there has finally come a series that treats BDSM as more than just a cheap trick to sell poorly written porn. This book is well written, has identifiable characters and an interesting premise. Lara Antinou is a frequent guest at many BDSM conferences. I believe that her premise taps into the desire of many of BDSM scene (whether they go the events or just dream at home) that there is a group of people out there that take the leather scene a little more seriously than your average S&M aficionado. It is just a little exciting to think that if you can shine as a truly powerful Master or well behaved slave, that you may be allowed into a special clique of true devotees. In addition to her well conceived premise, the characters in the book are well developed and interesting to read about. For those of you that enjoy BDSM but not bisexuality, this book has fewer homosexual encounters that the first book in the series. I think that you find it is a welcome break from aggressive, badly written fare that passes for BDSM novels.

A real page turner, well written and attention keeping. Just enough detail for the imagination without over-doing it. Looking forward to the next sequel.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best book of the best series on BDSM Review: For anyone who is into BDSM or who is curious about what motivates people who are, this book is the best exploration of the mindset of a submissive. Antoniou very cleverly uses her central conceit - a Marketplace of willing slaves who sell themselves into multi-year contracts to wealthy Owners (under which contracts the slaves are eventually compensated) - to explore the psychological aspects of service and being property. Antoniou is herself most interested in - okay, let's be blunt, aroused by - slaves whose behavior needs to be corrected, so all of her books are filled with slaves who are flawed or are otherwise struggling to live up to someone's (usually, Sgt. Parker's) exceedingly high expectations. The Slave is her best-selling book, in part because the curious find the title titillating, but mainly because she lays out Robin's whole journey, complete with the backstory from her youth, and proceeding through her training by Parker and her experiences being owned. Although this is the best book in the series, I would strongly urge anyone who is interested in it to read the series from the beginning. It is much more satisfying that way.

Review: Having recently started wondering through the world of erotica, I started a search for a good book to introduce me to BDSM. Before reading, I niavely thought it was all about tying someone up and giving the pleasure through this. Now I see how wrong I was. Not only did it give me an honest glimpse into the real S&M, but the story line also caught my interest. I started with The Marketplace and after reading that, went out and bought the rest of the series, including hte Academy. I have lent the series out to family members, friends and even men along the way. I highly recomend this book and the others in The Series.

Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Not believable and unrealistic with whimpy characters Review: I finished reading the book, just to see if it would ever get better...it didn't. BDSM experiences in this book seemed so mechanical and predictable with no psychological impact on the participants, who themselves seemed so superficial and lacked depth and strength. Poorly written and very disappointing and now in the landfill. Next...
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not Her Best Review: I liked the other two books in the trilogy better. I found Robin's character bo-ring and was unable to get excited about any of her sex scenes. I felt she was a lackluster character. The Marketplace had much more interesting characters.
