Rating: Summary: Wonderful read Review: This book was wonderful. It fit in well with where I am in my life right now and I would strongly recomend it to anyone. Quick read but intense content.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fantastic! Review: "God on a Harley" was a fantastic book. I totally loved it. I do wish it was longer. I wish it was very long to really savor! It was a good self help book, but the way it was written with the lead man coming to Christine, was great! I wish it could happen to all of us that way. Please buy it and read it! You'll be so happy that you did.
Rating: Summary: Creative, Thought provoking, Makes you look inside Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the book from the fiction standpoint. The main character was very practical and very down to earth, especially relatable. Her frustration and frankness made the book worthwhile as an easy read. The book tackles a lot of the issues we face everyday, especially when it comes to self-doubt and personal insecurities. The only thing I didn't like about the book was its new age twists, especially the comment about "god is always changing" and how the ten commandments are old and don't need to be followed which I personally defintely do not believe, however I must remember this is just fiction and not intended as a book about religion (I hope). I would recommend the book as a good humorous easy-read.
Rating: Summary: God on a Harley Review: This book was exactly what I needed to pull me out of the slump I had found myself in. I found it amazing that such a short, easy to read book could give me a whole new outlook on life. It has a religious slant, without being preachy. After I finished the book, I wondered how the author could know exactly what I was thinking and feeling, but of course I just smiled...because the book explains that very question so well!
Rating: Summary: Simplicity at its finest Review: I had to write and respond to Chrystal Ben-Ezra from Erie, PA. If you think that God, your God or my God, isn't human, then maybe you should see more footage of the World Trade Center attacks, California earthquakes or the Monsaratt Volcano explosion. Do you NOT think that God (yours or mine) had anything to do with those???? God on a Harley is simply a lighthearted story of how one person found peace through a fantasy. I was always taught that God is all things to all people. So, why can't he be a handsome "Joe" on a motorcycle dispersing advise to people. Not all the answers are going to be the same for everyone. For Christine, "Joe" made her see her life differently and touch upon what is really important to her...which might not be the same for Chrystal Ben-Ezra of Erie, PA. I have always believed that people are entitled to their opinion. I do, however, don't think that Chrystal can preach about God to the rest of us if she believes the "all or nothing" concept. The world is made up of fine lines and God on a Harley just shows each of us individually how to sort out our own feelings. I found the book to be very helpful in dealing with some difficult times and deciding what happiness meant to me. Why would God not be a part of that? Please read God on a Harley and decide for yourself!
Rating: Summary: A Complete Mockery of God!!!! Review: This book is full of heresy and makes God out to look like a bumbling idiot! Just read some of these quotes: "GOD" says: "You're right about the Ten Commandments. I was still new at this Universal Force business when I came up with that idea. I didn't realize I was being a little inflexible. Honestly, I just didn't understand then that one set of commandments can't possibly serve as a guide to everyone. We're all at different levels of our own development and evolution. What works for one person, certainly doesn't have to work for everyone else. I didn't know that then." WHAT? God didn't know something? God makes mistakes? Are WE, mere humans, smarter than God? Who would ever want to serve a bumbling, mistaking God? It's not even realistic in the book. Let's even just say for a minute that this is the way God was. Then why in the world would this woman want to obey and follow this God's rules? Would you commit your life to someone you couldn't trust to know what is best for you? I sure wouldn't. Thats why this book is unrealistic. Then "GOD" says, in response to a question of how long He has been running around giving people their own set of rules, "Apparently not long enough. The work has really piled up. But I'm always learning, always improving --- trying to get more efficient at what I do." I suppose I can understand why someone might like this book. If you believe that God is merely a person who comes to your aid and gives you presents whenever you like but doesn't punish the wicked and doesn't judge and isn't all powerful and all knowing, then you would like this book. This book is for anyone who would like to serve a jellyfish, puddy in my hands God. God is portrayed in this book like someone who is trying to understand humanity (who didn't understand it before) and makes mistakes, isn't in control of everything, and basically is just any other man who happens to have a few magical powers. This book makes a mockery out of the REAL Christian God and is a complete waste of money for anyone who is REALLY seeking the Lord. Unless of course you are buying it for the purposes of burning it!
Rating: Summary: a life changer Review: When I first held this book in my hands, I was a bit apprehensive. It seemed like just another mills and boon book, and I was not convinced it would be great. But, reluctant, I started to read it. From the first page on I was hooked. I fell in love with God as she did, and I learned like she did. This book changed my life, literally. Joan Brady is a gifted weaver of words. The story is captivating and very worth the read :)
Rating: Summary: Faith-lift Review: This book takes a refreshing look at discovering faith, growing in faith, and leaning on the arms of faith. This book does not preach, but puts faith in the fun-loving spirit it was meant to be received in.
Rating: Summary: Play it again, Joan!!! Review: As a Harley rider, I was grabbed by the title. But when I started reading this small (but very huge) book, I couldn't stop. I learned so much about myself with every page. I was exactly like the girl in the book, too many clothes, too much mental "stuff". Well, I still have a lot of "stuff", but I now share it with a wonderful man. I found my way through a lot of issues by reading this book and passing it along to MANY of my friends who needed spiritual help and assurance. Joan Brady hit it on the head with this one, can't wait to read the next one.
Rating: Summary: Great title...great book... Review: It was the title that first caught my eye. It looked like short read as I'm not into long books. I couldn't put it down. Looks into your soul and brings about self-awareness about what may be lacking in one's own life. A page-turner!
