Summary: I admit I was CAUGHT UP in this story and couldn't stop
Review: I read this book straight through in 2 days. It was very easy to read and very interesting and somewhat enjoyable.

SYNOPSIS: Raven is biracial and grew up in the foster care system. At the age of 15, a white woman by the name of Sue became Raven's permanent foster mother. Raven felt very uncomfortable living in Iowa with a white mother. She felt that Iowa lacked racial diversity and this had a negative impact on her. At the age of 19, Raven arbitrarily chooses to move to Atlanta. She feels that, in Atlanta, she will find others for whom she could better relate.

While sitting in a Kansas City bus station, Raven begins a conversation with Nia. To Raven, Nia looks like a model. To Nia, Raven looks like a model. The two women/girls forge a friendship. Nia invites Raven to move into her loft apartment with her on Peachtree street. Initially, Raven refused the offer but when she heard of all the money she would need to live in Atlanta, she reluctantly agreed to move in with Nia.

Eventually, Nia's "agent" came to the bus station to pick up the girls. The agent's name is Rico and he is a former NFL player. He retired due to a knee injury but not before he was paid several millions of dollars. Nia and Raven proceeded to return to Atlanta in Rico's Escalade. The group stopped in another city before Atlanta and subsequently Nia and Raven flew to Atlanta. Upon arriving to Atlanta, Raven discovered that Nia and Rico were likely in a personal relationship as well as a business relationship.

Shortly after arriving in Atlanta, Rico set up a video shoot for Nia. Rico basically staked his reputation on Nia's performance in the video. Nia, however, refused to go topless in the video. This caused discord for Rico and Clive (the grammy winning producer of the video). As a result, Rico cut Nia out of his life. Rico gave Raven the Mustang he bought Nia and basically told Raven the loft was hers.

Over the course of 18 months or so, Raven strips at Rico's clubs and in about 4 months becomes manager of the clubs. On the side, Raven sets up stripper parties and made about $500.00 a pop doing these ventures. After while, Raven discovered that Rico was involved in shady business dealings. Rico paid kickbacks to Sgt Fillmore to keep police from investigating the clubs. Rico also hired some men to hurt Clive after Clive refused to return a PORN tape of Nia.

While all of this is going on, Nia becomes a grammy winning singer and becomes engaged to Miles. Tyanna, a friend of Nia and Raven, ends up marrying one of the PORN guys that appears early on in the story.

After Raven is almost blown up in her apartment and loses a boyfriend, she returns to Iowa to marry. She married the man who would not have pre-marital sex with her. The man she had all but ruled out in terms of a relationship.

In my opinion, you could definitely tell that the book was written by a male. I really disliked the sex scenes in the book. I viewed the sex scenes as more about the act than the romance. The one scene that should have been about love sounded absolutely disgusting to me. As stated earlier though, I was really CAUGHT UP in this book and would recommend it to others.

Summary: This book had me and my whole office "Caught Up"!!!
Review: I received this book as a gift from a co-worker. After reading the first chapter, I had my whole office wanting to read it! We were so hooked on this book that we met Winston at Perimeter Mall and bought several copies to start our book club. I've told everyone about this book because after reading it, you'll know someone that are just like the characters. With the setting in Atlanta, made the story all that better. When I'm in bookstores where it's being sold, I recommend it to customers to buy. Keep up the good work, Winston...you have been blessed with a beautiful talent. I'm looking forward to your next book.

Summary: Very Solid Read!!
Review: I think that "Caught Up" is one of the best urban tales out there. Winston Chapman has definitely held his own with this book. The reading is fast-paced, has solid editing, and a great main character. It was a little unrealistic for Raven to accomplish what she did in such a short amount of time but this is a fiction novel and the girl brought her "A" game. Bottom line, buy this book, you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Great book but wish it couldve been more.......
Review: I thought the book was awesome and couldnt put it down! That's messed up about what happened to Devin in the end! I wish the book wouldve been a little bit longer. For example, I wanna know wassup with Raven and Darren at the end.....what actually happened to the bouncers?????? Overall it was a great book and I would definately be reading another Winston Chapman book!

Summary: Very Good Read!!
Review: I thought the book was excellent, however it was very hard to believe a sister coming from IOWA could become as street smart as Raven did in such a short period of time. She did make mistakes, but always overcame them. The last page and a half took me completely by surprise, I did not see it coming. I'm looking forward to reading another book from Winston Chapman.

Summary: Not feeling it
Review: I was so excited when I ordered this book becaue of all the good reviews it received, but Caught Up was not what I expected at all. First of all, the sentences and paragraphs were too choppy. The author seemed to just focus on breasts and behind throughtout the story. It was aight, but I wouldn't recommend it. I shouldn't even give it a 3.

Summary: One Night Stand
Review: If I was writing a book I'd want the reader to feel as if they'd just had a One Night Stand.

This is the way that I was left feeling after reading the high energy book "Caught Up" by Winston Chapman.
It was quick & easy, leaving me certain though perplexed; a tease yet satisfying.

Let me just break it down for you. This book was a quick read and easy to digest because of the reality of the content. For certain I could relate, but man o'man, watching as the plot thickened and the characters evolved, kept a sense of mystery burning inside of me. This heat fueled my desire to get to the end.

As graphic details, placed so intricately by the author, crawled through my mind and body, the illusion that I was actually in the game was created. What a tease!

Upon the closing of this story I was left with a rewarding sense of satisfaction though relieved that it was finally over.
You see, just within this read I'd managed to get "Caught Up".

Indeed, an author that can literally take you and put you exactly where he wants you to be has got to be given his props.
Looking for a One Night Stand? Dare to get "Caught Up"
