Rating: Summary: Best one-source explanation of today's troubles in Ireland. Review: I read it first when it came out, and again, and again; I often recommend it to those seeking the reasons for Northern Ireland's turmoil. As a Dublin-born Protestant who went to the USA some 40 years ago, I know the spirit of the book is so very true. A few details are screwed up - I knew few even middle-class families with refrigerators before 1945 - but what the hell! It's still a great work!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous...deeply moving epic on the Irish/English conflict. Review: I have never before read a book that was so historical and so magnificent, at the same time. If I can trust Mr. Uris, I have a now got an understanding of the Irish/English conflict that makes enormous sense, and is incredibly depressing. I highly recommend this book for everyone...truly amazing.
Rating: Summary: Utterly Terrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Ihave just finished this book. Recommended to me by my boss, yes my boss. I found a copy for $1.50 in an old bookshop, and it was the best purchase I have ever made. For those of you who are reading it or want to. Don't wait just do it!!!
Rating: Summary: What a sweet but dreadful thing Trinity's history is Review: If the pain and travail of our past can affect us today, surely Trinity is one of the few books of our era that most potently brings history to life and informs today's events. My family, for four generations is Irish American, drawn from among the hopeless rabble of the Famine to life among the shanties, work the rails and--little by little--to gain the American dream. I never really knew in a visceral way their horrible plight until I read this great book. If Ireland's history has any personal significance to you, or if you seek a powerful demonstration of historical fiction, you will find this is a wonderous book. It is surely strange thing that it has taken an American Jew to sing the dead song of Ireland and its terrible sad past. I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: A must read for any one claiming irish decent. Review: I am a first generation american, born to two Irish parent's from Derry, Northern Ireland. I always took great pride in being irish, but never realized why i should be so proud until i read this fantastic book. My father read this book years ago, and has never stopped talking about the accuracy this book portrays on how life was in ireland. He grew up there and was amazed how even the smallest details were perfect to every detail. A must read book for anyone who is proud of their Irish decent. Don't just wear green on St. Patty's day, read this book and really celebrate your heritage
Rating: Summary: A real page turner Review: I read this book many years ago and agree with the other reviewers on the quality of this book. I was born in England and it really opened my eyes to what actually happened during that point in history. You won't be disappointed!

Rating: Summary: WOW. Review: This book is, in a word, amazing. Again, as in EXODUS, what-really-happened blends easily with what-could-have-happened in 1800s-early 1900s Ireland. A great story in its own right, TRINITY is also packed with historical facts, which add to the novel's bittersweet feel: you know some of it really happened
Rating: Summary: Excellent fictional adaptation of the historical period Review: From chapter one, the compelling and suspensful language and dialogue of Leon Uris' Trinity has the reader catapulted into one of the most tumultous times and places in history: turn-of-the-century Ireland. Following the lives of an Irish Catholic family, the reader walks hand in hand as two boyhood friends grow up and learn what it means to be Irish and Catholic in a country where sectarianism rules. Conor Larkin works his way up from a countryside hut to infiltrate one of the most powerful Protestant ruling families in Northern Ireland all to help the cause of Irish Independence. Adventures and tribulations with his profession as a blacksmith, his season with a Belfast rugby team, a steamy love affair and a cross country gun running mission for the Irish Brotherhood keep the reader intrigued. Combining a thrilling and suspensful plot line with his deep and accurate account of Irish history is what really makes Uris' book stand out. This is an essential must read for anyone interested in Ireland and a great, although lengthy, novel that I highly recommend to all book lovers
Rating: Summary: This is one of the greatest Historic novells ever written! Review: This book is really marvelous! The way Leon Uris writes the History
of Ireland is unique, you'll read the book in one breath! This book's
a real piece of art. After you read it you'll want to read Redemtion
too, the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Excellent novel based on the fascinating history of Ireland. Review: Following in the footsteps of earlier generations of Larkins, Conor Larkin becomes a great leader of the catholic Irish. In the longstanding battle between Irish and English and between Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants, Conor Larkin
inspires and leads the downtrodden. Along the way he charms
Catholic, Protestant, and Royalty while never losing sight
of his ultimate goal, Irish Independence. This book is insightful and has an alarming similiarity to current events
in modern Ireland.
