Rating: Summary: Played out Review: Dumb As Me is an easy-to-read novel that entertains readers with the "say it ain't so" kind of storyline about the game-playing shenanigans of Justin Drake, a married man and father of two children. For a minute, the Drakes appear to have every material thing, yet the foundation of their relationship is built on lies and deceit-the makings of a metaphorical Molotov cocktail. Drake's crude mixture of a vain fixation with physical appearances; childish, manipulative games of emotional torment and make-up maneuvers with his wife; and idle time with no purpose but fulfilling his "nasty self" with a variety of women is the whole story. Little do readers know as the story unfolds that they are reading a mystery. Dumb As Me offers a snapshot view into the mind of a player-a male whose game is to sex as many women as he can while maintaining his status as "the sweetest man" his wife had ever known. Certainly, as most clear-thinking women know, a husband can't be doing the sorts of things that Drake, a.k.a. Quincy, Fred, Tony, Chris, and Mr. Williamson, is doing and have his wife totally unsuspecting. Yet, Drake continually makes the "I know you don't believe that" kind of statements as he plays his game. And he does haves moments in the novel where he expresses twinges of guilt about his lifestyle but routinely justifies his behavior before any real guilt sets in. The story moves quickly through three months of Drake's life that leads to a surprising, cliffhanger ending with Drake, himself, asking the questions that readers want to know. The perfect set up for a sequel. But first, writer Michael Gainer has written the prequel to this novel. We'll have to wait to get "the rest of the story" and the answers to the questions that Drake asks himself at the of Dumb As Me in a future novel.
Rating: Summary: Dumb As Me Review: When I started reading this book, I thought it was another book with dirty words thrown in. As I began getting into the story itself, I find myself unable to put it down and responding verbally to certain parts. A long time ago, I worked with someone who was "Justin" or she was a "Justine". I couldn't do that to someone that I love. Justin was trying to find love in "all" the wrong places and so did she. "Justine's" last encounter landed her in the hospital, then rehabilitation. ...as for unpredictiable; the ending just blew me away. When you think the story is going in one direction, it heads into another. The ending was truly a surprise. Do you think that was Justin's wake up call? I think so. I enjoyed the book and looking forward to reading future books. I'm the lady you meet at the Zora Neale Hurston Festival with the gentleman whom you thought you knew. Watch Out Michael Baisden....here comes MICHAEL GAINER!!

Rating: Summary: You think you know¿..but you have no idea Review: In Michael Gainer's Dumb as Me, we are introduced to Justin Drake, a man who clearly personifies the word "player". For Justin, the life of a player comes across naturally. Pimping, misleading women, and "living the life" is his specialty. Even his wife Alexis is aware of this, fully taking in all of his infidelities. If she would just be more openly accepting of Justin's lifestyle, in his eyes it would be "perfect". He would then be fully free to run as he pleased. From the very beginning, we take a peek into Justin's life. We are introduced to the many women who make up his inner circle along with his loved ones who play a role in his "conquests". As Justin goes forth in his pursuits, he encounters the beautiful and mysterious Eden. Although her intoxicating beauty draws Justin, little does he know that he is about learn some powerful life-changing lessons. What lessons are in store for Justin? What impact will it have on his life? You will be very surprised in the direction that this story heads. Although I don't condone Justin's actions or lifestyle, Mr. Gainer does an excellent job of presenting this tale. He presents the plot and characters in a realistic, honest fashion, which is clearly refreshing. For anyone who thinks that they truly know the player's life, read Dumb As Me because if you think you know, you have absolutely no idea.. Reviewed by: Kanika (Nika) Wade

Rating: Summary: Michael Gainer's Dumb As Me Review: Dumb As Me is the story of an uncompromising, pimping player named Justin Drake, a user of the Player's Instructional Manual. With his friend, Hammer, Justin meets and uses women for the sole purpose of unadulterated sexual romps. The protagonist, Justin, lives by the Players' Code of Ethics and devilishly deceives and discards women at will. If only his beautiful wife, Alexis would understand. Justin follows the creed of the pimp and gets his "freak-on" at every opportune moment. He proclaims,"How could she resist this venom I was about to spit?"... He's a players'player until he meets the gorgeous Eden. Eden is the only female who rivals his player 'persona' and leaves him awe-stricken. The narration begins with our player hiding naked in a closet peeking through a crack in the door. The tale flashes backwards with Justin's various sexual liaison, lies, and misplaced love as he begins to examine his life and his continued infidelities. Dumb As Me has a finale not easily forgotten... as Alexis is not the wife she seems to be, and Eden is not quite the woman Justin wanted.
Rating: Summary: Easy Read Review: Good book if you want something predictable to read. I am a fast reader and I finish this book in about 3 hours. I gave it 4 stars because it show cased alot of what men(cheating men that is..) be thinking about, but it didn't cover why they actually do cheat. I also think the tips at the end was good!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Truly Dumb Review: Quick read. Doesn't take much intelligence to get through it. I gave it the minimum 1 star only because it's required. The story lacked depth. The characters had little to no character and the storyline was just dumb. I know this is a work of fiction. However, the irresponsibility of Justin and having unsafe sex with any/everybody was just as ridiculous as the ending. If at all possible beg, borrow or steal it from a relative, friend, etc. (with permission) just don't buy it! I'm all for supporting new Black, African American, colored, negro or whatever we're calling ourselves these days, but the author needs to redeem himself with better writing and get someone to actually edit the book.
