Rating: Summary: Michael's book is destined to be a collector's item! Review: I just had to write another review on this poetry book as I excitedly await a few copies of the 2nd edition, with it's new front cover design! Besides, my 1st edition copy is getting worn out from rereading the poems so much during the past 18 months. Although I am partial to each of Michael's vers libre, for those of you who are browsers who prefer highlights, my favorite poem in this book is called "Influences" which is a noteworthy, inspirational composition of advice for how to survive in life. My second favorite stands as a tie between "Elmer Fudd" and "George Best", followed by "Hope" and "Poem 37", with the latter two verses appearing to reveal Michael's deepest pain, over his closest loved ones who moved to Heaven at young ages. Touching; spiritual; artistic; humorous; reality!
Rating: Summary: You have to read "Mad Dog Of The Neighborhood"! Review: I love Michael Easton even though I have not met him, yet. This book of poetry gave me some insight into his experiences and his heart. "Mad Dog..." is my favorite, but I also loved "Picture". I don`t know much about poetry and how it is created, but I know he`s doing it right. Buy Eighteen Straight Whiskeys, read it and see a little bit of yourself and Michael in it.

Rating: Summary: The Talented Mr. Easton Review: I was unprepared for the depth of emotion and power expressed in this slim volume of poetry. People might try to say he has a minimalist style, but I don't think that's entirely accurate. It's raw, gritty, highly charged, straight-to-the-heart poetry. The last time I was so moved by an author's work was when I read Toni Morrison's "Love" when it first came out. I haven't really read a lot of poetry since I graduated from college way too many years ago, but this was definitely a wonderful treat. Mr. Easton has written that he doesn't think he's as good as Charles Bukowski or Raymond Carver, but I disagree. He is an accomplished poet in his own right. I saw a talk that Robert Bly gave years ago, and he said that what poetry should do is hit the reader right in the heart. That's what good poetry does, and Micheal Easton is definitely on target. He's a rare talent who happens to excel in writing and acting. I'm looking forward to reading more from him!

Rating: Summary: He's as good a writer as he is an actor! Review: I watched Port Charles and fell in love, I read this book and was amazed. The openness, compassion, sorrow, power, and beauty of his words scar you. I'll never look at him the same again, but it's in a good way. As you watch him play Michael Morley, you realize the struggle he went through to be where he is today, as you watch him play Caleb Morley you realize the ultimate disappointment he must feel that he's made it for acting, not his real passion, writing. Enjoy it while it lasts, this is a short but amazing book. I re-read every poem several times, and you'll find yourself doing the same, especially if you've ever seen him act!
Rating: Summary: Looking for things one might never find. Review: It took me a week to read "Eighteen Straight Whiskeys." A book like this shouldn't ... can't ... be rushed through. One needs time to appreciate and absorb the feelings evoked. Michael Easton's poems put into words things one thinks but dares not say, and awaken uncomfortable yet vital memories that, once exposed, help with psychological healing. A collection to be slowly contemplated.
Rating: Summary: The most well-thumbed book on my shelf Review: Michael Easton is both a great actor, writer, producer and now poet. The best has to be 'Exits' or 'Crowds.' He's like the BB King of jazz poetry, emotionally charged, at times surreal, but always captivating. I advise everyone to buy this book.
Rating: Summary: "Eighteen Straight Whiskeys" by actor/writer Michael Easton Review: On the evening of the day I received this poetry book in the mail, I was up ALL NIGHT once I began to read it, unable to put the book down! The poems have a very magnetic quality, which has drawn me to reread various verses since that first, long night when I initially viewed them. Michael Easton is definitely a cultured and smart poet of our era, and I hopefully look forward to a second book of poetry from him.-
Rating: Summary: Mr. Easton speaks from his heart, minces no words Review: Poetry is an aquired taste, and is diffrent for everyone. Just as each person prefers a certain wine, and chooses that for certain reasons. Some people feel poetry must rhyme, and others feel it must flow from the poets heart. Michael Easton's style of writting speaks volumes of where he must have been, emotionally, when he wrote such poems. His style is not the flowing, flowery, rhymeing many perfer. But it speaks of true life, true feelings, and I believe where he felt he was coming from. I truly relate to the poems included in this book, and feel that it also helped me with my writting as well. I highly recommend this book, but caution it is to be read with an open mind. One thing is for sure,I waited quiet awhile to get the book, and will continue to enjoy it...for the emotions it awakens in me, for its dry-whit, and for most importantly, it's poetry.
