Rating: Summary: Cure for Insomnia Review: What a dissapointment. It was slow to start but I thought it would pick up. I painfully finished but felt that there were several lose ends - relationship with her husband after all her turmoil. I gave it one star because it cured me of insomnia!
Rating: Summary: Shared feelings Review: After trying to read this book, I thought the plot and characters were improbable and boring. I've only read about one-third of it and will probably not read the rest. I'm happy that other reviewers found it the same. I thought, perhaps, I was the only one who felt this way, and that something, anything might make it more readable.
Rating: Summary: What did I just read? Review: I thought this was a map. I opened it to find just a bunch of words. That will not help me find Shakazaramesh! If you want a map, do not buy this strange book!
Rating: Summary: I felt like they were real Review: This book was written with such realism and such emotion, that I felt like the characters were real. It is amazing how a person can feel alone when they are surrounded by people. Jane Hamilton weaves her characters into a realistic, heart-wrenching, and encompassing story that you can't put down.
Rating: Summary: My Home Away From Home Review: Hurriedly I raced around the library trying to pick out a book for the reading project that was due in a week. I randomly pulled books from the shelves to see if they deemed worthy of my time. Finally, I pulled out Isle of View by Piers Anthony. I read the summary on the back of the book only to find out that it was about the billionth book of the Xanth series. Personally, I find series hard to follow and not really my cup of tea, but it was getting late and so it would have to do. In the days that followed, I found that I was beginning to enjoy myself reading Isle of View. Being in high school, I am bogged down with the obligation to read classic books. I hardly ever get to read what I want, until the assignment was to read a fun book. I almost forgot what that was. I welcome you to dive into an enchanted world where a baby centaur is kidnapped by goblins, Night Mares deliver bad dreams, and there are evil clouds with a serious attitude problems. Xanth is world where anything is possible and nothing is ever what it seems. Anthony took you to the other side and back. You never wanted to return to your human, or as the author puts it, Mudanian life. This book left you wondering what would happen in the next book. While reading the book I have only two suggestions for you. I strongly suggest that you laugh at the childish play on words and never ever, under any circumstance, skip a page.
Rating: Summary: Strange....but good Review: I found that A Map of the World kept me coming back for more. The emotions in this book are so well described, at times they are even raw. A book about the power of womens friendship and all it can and will endure.
Rating: Summary: Very Insightful story! Review: I absolutely loved this book by Jane Hamilton. She wrote it with plenty of laughter, tears and insightfulness on a very touchy subject...child abuse. I adored her characters, namely Alice, Theresa Howard, even Nellie! I have recommended this book as well as her first one, to my sisters bookclub and several reader friends. I give Jane Hamilton a thumbs up! GO GIRL!
Rating: Summary: Good Review: I read this book when it first was released. Now I am a mother of a two yr old(who has time for "mom" books now! ) This book is Excellent! I was moved so much, that I still remember alot of the story! I can see why this was made into a movie. READ the book first, it will give the story so much more depth, than a movie could achieve solo. This aurthor is one to look out for.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I am pretty confident the only reason this one made Oprah's picks is because she is mentioned in the book.
Rating: Summary: depressing Review: This is the slowest, most depressing book I've read in a long time. I kept waiting for it to get good and it never did.
