Rating: Summary: Powerful book Review: It warms my heart to see Christian reviewers like Karina Suarez saying nice things about the Jews after reading this book. I listen to progressive radio, ... in New York, and whenever they mention the Middle East they slam the Jews and Israel, and they sympathize with the Arabs. I feel like telling them to read Exodus by Leon Uris. Get the other side. The author beautifully presents history from the Jewish point of view, from the Holocaust to the prison camps on Cyprus to Jewish immigration to Palestine to the Jewish conquest of the desert and conversion of it into farmland, to the U.N. vote to allow the Jews their own homeland (since no country on Earth was willing to accept Hitler's Jews, thus sealing their fate in the death camps), to the Arab attempt to exterminate the Jews and finish what Germany started, to Israel's victory in the first war against a union of Arab invaders. This book also explains that the Palestinian refugee problem was manufactured by the Arabs, not by the Jews, and is hypocritically exploited by Arabs for propaganda value when in fact no Arab nation would allow the Palestinians to live among them. One criticism I have of this book is that it leaves the reader despising Arabs and British, and even a Jewish reader has to be left thinking they couldn't have been so completely evil, they must have had something to say for themselves. You walk away from this book thinking that Arabs are insane. Well, let's say they are overly propagandized to hate the Jews and leave it at that. The Mideast crisis will never be solved until the hateful propaganda is stopped. When every Arab country drums up vicious hatred against the Jews, similar to Goebbels and Hitler, it spells eternal trouble.
Rating: Summary: URIS Review: This was the first book by Leon Uris I ever read. I was seventeen or eighteen years old, in the Soviet Union and the book was elligal. Some Americans were bringing some books to the Soviet Union trying to show us the truth. I read it and all my insides were torn out. It was a revelation. Leon Uris was able to open my eyes and to show the way.
Rating: Summary: WILL THE JEWISH RACE EVER BE WIPED OUT? Review: The answer is positively NEVER. Why? Because Israel is the land of the One And Only True God. The Jews are God's special and chosen people through whom all nations are blessed. It was the the Will and Promise of God that Israel would become a nation and it did, and the mere fact that Israel fought 3 countries in war and yet won the war shows us that God is a living God, that Israel will live forever and that the Jewish race will NEVER be wiped out and who ever hurts the Jews will face the wrath of God for God said "Touch Not My Annointed".I am a Christian but my Dad taught me to always love Israel and the Jewish people for God said to Abraham "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you". Exodus is a great book to read it was recommended to me by my friend and I loved every chapter of it. Try reading it you'll love it too and learn a lot from it. I also recommend reading the Book "Israel The Blessing Or The Curse" by John McTernan & Bill Koenig. God Bless You.
Rating: Summary: Fun AND educational? Review: I feel like I learned so much from reading this book, and yet I couldn't put it down! This is a good starting point for anyone wondering what all that middle-eastern conflict is all about. And all that perfectly written history has plenty of intriguing relationships intertwined. If you need a historical fiction fix, pick this up!
Rating: Summary: Boooring! Review: Exodus was the most boring book I have ever read! Most likely that is because I am not a history buff and that is exactly what this book had. Page after page of history. I really didn't need to know that much about the birth of Isreal. Anyway, if history is what you like read Exodus! If an interesting story is what you like, find something else to read!
Rating: Summary: A Fine Novel Review: When its good it soars, however I found much of it bogged down by stereotypes of British and Arabs. Compelling as ever, Leon Uris delivers a fantastic read.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: This is the most incredible book I have ever read! I love it! I think I will read this about a hundred more times this life.
Rating: Summary: The Exodus Review: The exodus was one of the most well written books I have ever read. It has a great plot, tremendous storyline, and a great ending. I would recommend this book to any over the age of 13. While reading, the history of Israel and a complex historical fiction is combined. Anyone looking for a good book should give Exodus a try.
Rating: Summary: Great for learning Mideast history Review: This book was great reading in light of the Mideast turmoil in the year 2002. I knew very little about the Isreal/Palestine conflict. This book explains the history of this troubled land and its people. Should be a must read for high school/college students. I realize it's fiction and not everything in the book is fact based, but it really gives great insight of the mindset of the modern Isreali and Arab and why they are still fighting in the 21st century.
Rating: Summary: My favourite book of all time Review: I don't know what to say, this book is fabulous. Probably one of the saddest stories I have ever read, because Uris does an excellent job of creating sympathetic characters on all sides of the situation. Wonderful the way they all eventually weave together. I have read it 10 times, and still enjoy it each time I read it.
