Summary: Hands-down, this is the best novel that I have ever read!
Review: As an American Jew, I grew up feeling like a secular American and not so Jewish. However, after reading this historical novel, my "Jewishness" was so stirred inside me, that I have a strong desire to continue to learn more about my people and about the State of Israel. Almost every Jew today, including myself, has relatives/ancestors similar to the well developed characters in this novel. Every Jew can therefore relate to the characters and ultimately the theme of this book. Furthermore, every human can appreciate the mastery of Uris as he chronicles the re-birth of a nation born from the ashes of hate's fires. I just wish Uris would write a sequel!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Touching Story That Will Inspire Sympathy for the Jews
Review: Despite the fact that this story is very tilted toward the Arab point of view, I find that it helps to develop any one's emotional side. Not only does this story help one to understand how the Jews have experienced hardships troughout the ages, but the inspiring personal sagas touch your heart.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: You Too Will Crave "Eretz Isreal"
Review: Sure, Leon Uris obviouslly does not present a fair view of the Arab's case in this novel, but it is just a great book to read. Despite its distorted nature, the book does tell us of the awful plight that the Jews have endured throughout the ages. Read this book and too experience the Exodus!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Well-esteemed by closed and less-informed minds
Review: this is a widely praised novel and even became a movie. It is basically propaganda but as propaganda it is quite good, hence the popularity for a book involving an incident whose real-life Jewish survivors have said the novel was false (the Exodus ship). Still, it tells people what they want to hear and so it gets rave reviews. Actually, few notice the anti-Arab racism, the distorted history, and the button-pushing manipulation behind the well-crafted characters and events. The despoiling of the Palestinians is skirted and justified. This should be read to uinderstand how pro-Israeli opinion is manufactured and nurtured in popular opinion rather than as an accurate novelization of history. One day Uris will go down with Steicher, Goebbels, D.W. Griffith, and otehrs as a succesful purveyor of racist political art.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THIS IS A GREAT BOOK
Review: Exodus is a great book that illustrates the atrocities that the Jews went through and the hard work they put into reclaiming their land. Only God could have kept the Arabs from destroying their country. Uris's view is somewhat biased.

Summary: The Best Book I've ever read
Review: Exodus is absolutly the best book I have ever read. I read a lot of books and many good ones but this is the first book I have ever read that I can honestly say was good from cover to cover. I loved all the characters and I have never cried so hard in my life as I did from this book. You should have seen me I was pathetic, I think I cried a total of about two hours from this book. Anyhow I would definatly recommend it, especially if you are Jewish and even if you are not it is still a good read. I'll tell you one thing, now I can't wait to go to Israel!

Summary: My favorite book, since I 1st read it, 11 years ago.
Review: I read this book for the 1st time 11 years ago, & it is still my fav book. It's true that it's not completely accurent, but the changes in details are so small, that it's just a stupidity to say that because of that, this great book, giving a great summary of the birth of the state of Israel through the eyes of Ari Ben-Canaan & Kitty F. & all the people around them - is anywhere close to, even, not being good...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Do not read this if you are looking for a historical fiction
Review: One of this book's main flaws is its slight distortion of history. However, I do not feel it was Uris's point to portray history. Uris writes this book from a Jewish stand point. He expresses his feelings on the Middle East controversy. This book though, while not accurate, was highly enjoyable. Like in his other novels, Uris is able to make you follow a story, not a character. I enjoyed this book more than some of his others, which were also good.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply the best fiction I've read!
Review: Over the past 10 years, I've read "Exodus" 4 times. If the Lord lets me live, I'll read it at least once more. I don't know how accurate the historical side of the story is, but as a believer in the Bible I suspect it is closer to the truth than a lot of people want to admit. As a purely enjoyable story, it is excellent.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Succeeds as Fiction, Fails as Historical Fiction
Review: I had a hard time rating this book because it succeeds as a work of fiction but fails as a work of historical fiction (a requirement of historical fiction being that it accurately portray the history behind the fiction). If you are just looking for a great novel to read, go read this one. If you are looking for an accurate historical account of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and the creation of the modern state of Israel, go elsewhere. As a work of fiction I rate this book a 9. As historical fiction I rate this book a 3.
