Summary: Japanese translation version
Review: I've read a Japanese translation of "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues". When I watch the movieCI felt interested in each of characters;especially Chink&Sissy. Although I've read a translation versionC‚h could enjoy his humorous style. So I decided to make a challenge to ENGLISH version. AnywayCI was greatly shocked from his book. How broad the inside of his brain is! And his way of thinking about the meaning of loveClife etc is amazing. And I strongly impressed on my mind from those. So I will be able to recommend this book anyone. This is the best book I've ever read.So I would like to express my thanks to TOM ROBBINS from faraway city;TOKYO. Next I will read "JITTERBUG PERFUMEh.

Summary: Genius cleverly concealed beneath a pure joy of language
Review: This book has tied with The Catcher in the Rye as my all-time favorite. If you want to have your brain gently taken out, cleaned, twisted, waxed, refurbished, and put back in again, to work in completely unexpected and utterly joyful ways, read this book.

Summary: BANG BANG BANG if you love TR
Review: Whooping cranes, cowgirls, and a pair of over-sized thumbs. Jump on your stallion, lasso your brain, and get ready to storm through another TR classic. The universe took a look at Tom Robbins, and it smiled. You shall too!

Summary: Blah!
Review: I can't believe I actually read the whole book, but by the time I realized it wasn't going to get any better, I'd already invested too much time in it to quit. Robbins' writing style is so cutesy it's sickening. I couldn't suspend my belief for two seconds, no matter how hard I tried. Robbins' silly plot and patronizing style is more suitable to teenage than adult tastes.

Summary: Talentless drudgery
Review: Eagerly lent to me by a friend, this is easily one of the two worst books I've read in my life. The possibilities are there, the storyline holds promise, but ultimately...

Tom Robbins can't write. At least not in this book. This is a tiresome, plodding nightmare of the author filling chapters with things that he must think make him look clever. If you think he _is_ clever, go read something by Richard Brautigan and see what Mr. Robbins appears to have been trying to do.

Summary: Stimulates the desire for adventure and thought!
Review: Started reading this book and had to finish it whilst hitchhiking! Finished it upon arrival in Berlin, with nothing but thoughts of how much faster Sissy Hankshaw would have accomplished it! A book full of quirks, with a style that keeps you intreiged.

Summary: Beautifully Thought-Provoking
Review: this book is simply amazing. i wanted to share parts of it with my far-away friend, and so i would email "the good stuff". i soon found myself retyping up to ten pages at a time. this book is vital to those of us who constantly strive to have exciting adventures. sissy (and amanda too, should you happen to read roadside) is a stimulating and enlightened woman who took me on a journey that took time to make sense of, but by the time the last page was turned, i felt as beautiful and strong as any cowgirl. by the way, beware of the movie version, it will disappoint any TR fan.

Summary: One of my favorite books. Now I can create my own reality.
Review: I read this book twenty years ago and it's still one of my favorites. I was disfigured after surgery when I was 18 and somehow after meeting the fabulous Sissy Hankshaw, I decided to create my own reality and perceive myself as something special. It's never too late to have a happy childhood and we do indeed learn more from our failures than triumphs. So here's to the Chink, and Bonanza Jellybean and all those whooping cranes.

Summary: Here's a decent review of 'Even Cowgirls Get The Blues'
Review: Tom Robbins, outrageous and unconventionally didactic, is easily discarded by the casual reader without remorse. His techniques are irritating, sardonic and frustrating... but terribly rewarding. 'Even Cowgirls Get The Blues' is littered (literally) with many magnificent ideas that keep the thinking reader thinking, and the liberal reader laughing. Robbins does well at making the sane look obscene, and may lose you for a few chapters, but ultimately delivers his end of the bargain: a richly entertaining novel which leaves you with a little bit more lust for life than you had known before. In this author's opinion, that's pretty hard to do.
