Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Not Green's Best Review: This novel is not what Jane Green normally produces. There was so much going on with the main character, Cath, and her friends that you never get to know her. There's way too much to the plot and not enough depth to cover it sufficiently. I was annoyed by the end of the book and flipping just to get to the all-too-predictable end.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Definitely a fun summer read... Review: ...but don't expect too much from this book. Don't get me wrong...I really enjoyed reading about the characters and their lives in London, but I felt that the ending of the novel turned it into a whole other novel altogether (and I don't want to spoil the end for anyone who hasn't read it). And I wasn't completely satisfied with the characterization of Cath, and how they develop Portia's role. My favorite parts were Cath's rapport with Si and with James...everyone else seemed a little too perfect or underdeveloped. I read the book in two afternoons, so it was something I couldn't put down, so it's something you can certainly bring with you to the beach.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Captivating! Review: This novel was hard to put down and was a fast read. Green does an excellent job pulling the reader into the story of a close-knit group of friends struggling through life's changes. There were a few instances when things I noticed in the writing style drew my attention away from the story line, but those instances definitely did not detract from Green's adept usage of character development and plot. Overall, it's a lighthearted, enjoyable read!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Funny, thoughtful, well written Review: Jane Green writes light fiction for women who think. Seems like an oxymoron, I know! You can gather the basic plot twists from the other reviews, but please know this - the quality of writing turns a basic soap opera plot into a wonderful literary experience. You almost believe the marital affair is truly happening, and know that if it didn't then, it was going to sometime. The illness element isn't overplayed, and you come to love some difficult to love elements of all the characters. Love this book, recommend it highly.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Bookends - By Jane Green Review: My first impression of this book was the usual "oh lord, another one of these icky romances" but as I got more involved.. of course, after the fact that I had no idea what was happening at the beginning, everyone being thrown into the first two pages of the book. As the story went along I developed relationships with everyone. (yes, even Max). This book was magnificent! Made me laugh, cry, frown all good and bad things :) but all meant for this book! I just wish that some of Ms. Green's books were also US printed... I loved this book! I think it's her best yet! (out of "Jemima J" and "Mr Maybe") I recommend this to anyone who loves a quick and easy romance read.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Very Nice Indeed Review: This tells a story of love, friendship, and business. Aa story of a group of friends who have lived together when they were in college, and still had their friendship going strong when they are done with college. All except for one. Interesting story. You gotta read it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Addicted to Green's Wit & Charm Review: "Bookends" gives you the best of it all! You've got the sappiness we're all fond of with these 'chick novels', the strong, fabulous friendships we envy, the quick Brittish wit Jane Green is so good at delivering with her characters & even a touching (not preachy) side plot. I think overall this book was just as fun to read as Jemima J, but I could personally relate to the plot and the characters more. Once I was 30 pages into it, I could barely stand to put it down. I think the storyline flowed well and if I wasn't tearing up from the sad bits, I was in tears from laughing! It was easy to get attached to the characters in this book--so much so that I was irritated by Cath's lack of ambition and motivation in the romance department. On the other hand, I was happy that this book wasn't centered around a cheesy romance with a predictable ending. There's much more to this novel than just a single girl's troubles with finding a man. I really liked that! I think this is another fantastic Jane Green book!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Most definately enjoyable! Review: This is my 3rd Jane Green book and already plan to start my 4th tonight. I really enjoy her as an author. This book kept me interested 100% of the time while there were no major plot turns, there were still twists that kept the pages turning. I gave it a 4 because it didn't leave me with that, "I LOVE THIS BOOK!" feeling like babyville did but it was still highly enjoyable.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Jane Green: Thank you! Review: I've liked all the Jane Green books I've read so far, and this one was no exception. I read it very quickly and loved it. I read "To Have and to Hold" the following day, (it was a long weekend) and if you are trying to decide between the two - which one to buy - go with Bookends. I enjoyed both, but I thought Bookends was better. To Have and to Hold wasn't bad but it didn't keep me quite as captivated as Bookends and i think it was a little bit too predictable.
If you don't like Chick Lit, though - this is not the book for you. There's no deep meaning, you can't write a term paper or get into a deep analytical discussion about this type of book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: a dream, a fantasy, a longing, a memory... reality realized Review: without writing a droning review like i usually do, i'll just say that of jane green books, i've liked this and babyville the best thus far. for the first time in a long long time, i cried... the protagonist isn't strong - but she's not weak either. she's just a normal woman... sorta average. uncontrollable hair, close knit friends... wistfully thinking and talking about the past and especially of the friend they lost contact with, Portia. but through cath's eyes and heart, we can see a woman trying to figure out her life and try to make sense of shedding the cocoon of her past and emerge as the independent woman surrounded by love.
this is one of green's most endearing books and i've fallen in love with the characters of this book as if they're my own friends... definately a keeper.
