Rating: Summary: Daisy Fay is my heroine Review: Daisy Fay Harper is one of the great heroines of our time. Her faith, courage, unstoppable spirit and humour make her someone to remember. I don't usually read books more than twice but whenever I feel a little down I pick up this book and read it again and my spirit is lifted. No matter how many times I read it I still laugh out loud. When I finish it I miss her, and my greatest regret is that there has never been a follow up written as I want to know what happens to her.
Rating: Summary: Amusing Story Review: Although I couldn't find much of a plot to this story, I still found it entertaining for the most part. Daisy Fay was interesting and fun to read about. She got herself into some pretty hilarious situations! While a lot of the book was seemingly pointless ramblings, I was amused enough that I found it enjoyable. It was a nice break from the more serious things in life.
Rating: Summary: I love Daisy Fay!! Review: From the moment I started reading this book, I was intrigued by her sense of humor and the way she looks at things. The stories of her and her Daddy are hilarious. I am almost done with it and I can't wait to see if Miss Daisy Fay gets what she has been striving for...acceptance.
Rating: Summary: A great read Review: Whenever I'm in the mood for a completely satisfying read, I pick up one of my Fannie Flagg books. No other writer can touch her perfect blend of humor (some of it out-right hysterical), sense of place, and characterization. Not only does Flagg possess a thorough understanding of human nature, but she effortlessly manages to apply it to an amazing cast of characters that are undeniably real. In fact, as the reader, you hardly even realize Flagg exists: the story unfolds so perfectly and the characters are so true, that you finish the book almost certain that these people lived and these events happened.
Rating: Summary: Pure Hillarity Review: This has to be one of the most comical reads around. A must for any southern (or heck northern)woman.
Rating: Summary: Alleluia Brother! Review: This is an enjoyable look at the world through the innocent eyes of Daisy Fay, an 11 year-old with a drunken con man for a father. Named after a vase of daisies in her mother's hospital room at birth we follow the trials and tribulations that are her life. Flagg has such a sincere way of presenting the main character's view of her father's dastardly deeds, that culminate in putting Daisy in a leaky row boat with a light that shines a crucifix in the sky, followed by the staging of her death and her return to life (via inner tube) from the sunken boat, as a miracle from God. There are plenty of laughs and a down home southern appeal to the book. The author reads the book on tape and makes it even more pleasurable. A light, fun read with an unforgettable cast of characters. Kelsana 4/11/01
Rating: Summary: Any book that shows it's characters attending Jr. Debutante Review: Any book that has it's characters attending Jr. Debutante meeting in the back of a bait store has got my vote for a funny well written piece of work. This book made me laugh many times and I finished it in two days as I couldn't put it down. At times the writer would be writing something and it was almost as if they didn't realize that it was so knee slapping funny. A great read !
Rating: Summary: What a refreshing read! Review: If I ever have a little girl, I would like her name to be Daisy Fay. Well, maybe not. However, Daisy Fay is one of the most unforgettable characters in the history of books ~~ at least in my personal journey through book reading! She is hilarious and she tells you like it is.There are several scenes in the book where you laugh out loud and you just have to share it with someone else. And the ending ... don't you just love a good story? If you find yourself reading a dark and gloomy book, be sure to pick this one up. After reading it, you will find your outlook on life so much brighter and cheerful. Fannie Flagg is a master storyteller and though this is the only second book of hers that I have read, you can bet that I will read the rest of hers. What is so memorable about Daisy Fay? Well, as a child of a broken home, she has managed to find humor in just about every situation of her life. She resists her mother's attempts to make her into a lady ~~ a secret desire just about every girl has ~~ and her father has always told her that he is so glad that he didn't have a son ~~ she was his heart. Daisy Fay captured a lot of hearts in this book and she is guaranteed to capture yours.
Rating: Summary: an enjoyable book but not great Review: At the beginning of the book, the story is a story of a young girl, which is suitable for kids. Then when the book takes a break and you come back 3 years later the book is definitely not for young children. A lot of girls swear and let boys "go all the way" and a girl is even raped by her own father. This book would not shock a lot of teenagers but anybody younger then 13 should not be advised to read this book. The storyline is about a young girl in a broken family and her rise to fame. I really enjoyed this book but I have yet to find out who the "miracle man" is. It is a nice light read as well which makes it more fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud hilarious! Review: This book actually made me laugh out loud during several parts. The Minister selling autographed pictures of The Last Supper!! Too funny! I've read this book several times. It is not only funny, but touching and nostalgic, too. It reminded me of my childhood during the late '60's. I have bought many copies of this book to give as gifts since I first discovered it, and everyone has enjoyed it.
