Rating: Summary: A fun read, but a total riff of 'The Firm'. Review: John Grisham probably didn't overexert himself on this one, since it's pretty much just a riff of his earlier court-room thriller 'The Firm'. It is fun to read, though and has a few truly exciting scenes. Unfortunately, like 'The Firm', the ending falls a bit short of expectations. Still, for $6.39 why not?
Rating: Summary: GOOD STORY LINE BUT, THE ENDING? Review: I loved this book it was a real page-turner but...the ending was what struck me. The ending was written nicely but...(another but)I was really disapointed in it. I don't mean to discourage anyone for the story was great.
Rating: Summary: It was a fun book to read. Review: I really liked this book. The story unfolded perfectly. The only part I was dissapointed with was the very end. Overall it was a good book.
Rating: Summary: What a great novel! His best yet. Review: JG's THE PARTNER reads like a high velocity industrial espionage thriller. Personally, I found all his previous works rather blase and tabloidal in nature; e.g., the making of a canyon out of a ditch effect. But his one reads like something Clancy wishes to have written. I'm also especially pleased to note JG's sensitivity to us nonlegal readers, as he (thankfully) leaves out all the boring legal mumbo-jumbo of his past profession. Which indicates that he is finally maturing into a more commercial writer. John G! I'm surprised and pleasantly amazed at this novel! It actually is truly exciting to read! Compares favorably with Steiger's new masterpiece, 'Alien Rapture.' Indeed, both are the juiciest thrilling reads that I've had in a long, long, too long time. EXCELLENT!
Rating: Summary: Very interesting, however, very unrealistic... Review: I enjoyed the book, it kept me on edge. It was unpredictable and exciting. However, there's no way it all could come together so perfectly...just how he planned it. Not even Superman could've pulled that off.
Rating: Summary: Page-turning writing that races you to an irritating ending. Review: Grisham creates a cunning, yet likeable Patrick Lanigan, pilots him through unforgetable twists and turns and throws it all in with an ending so irritatingly unfulfilling I wanted to rewrite it for him. His works are great and THE FIRM proves that his talent surpasses anything of his level, but THE PARTNER is an overall disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Non-Stop Entertainment!!!! Review: In my humble opinion, this book was just shy of being a Five-Star rating!!Immediately following my completion of reading "The Street Lawyer", I had to have more Grisham and read "The Partner", which has been sitting on my bookshelf since it was a new release. No doubt one of the most entertaining books I have ever read, I just could not put it down, having to know what would happen next! Just when you thought you had the whole story in the bag, Grisham throws in twists and turns with a brilliant lead character. A great story of betrayal and twisting justice, like riding a roller coaster. Hopefully, there will be a sequal, I couldn't get enough! I sincerely wish I had read this book sooner. I will, however, recommend this book to family and friends. Grisham is definitely a master storyteller!
Rating: Summary: brilliant Review: This is by far the best Grisham book ever. It is extremely suspenseful and you never know what happens next. It is in my opinion totally unpredictable and very andrenalizing.
Rating: Summary: Not so much a legal thriller in the Grisham sense Review: John Grisham legal thrillers are usually set in the courtroom (obviously) however The Partner is set just about everywhere else. The characters are rather forgettable but the plot is a survival tale so rich that it stays with you for awhile. I was truly impressed with this book since it's a departure from the usual Grisham fare and I truly hope he decides to write a sequel to explain the maddening ending.
Rating: Summary: Absolute masterpiece! Top read! Excellent ending! Review: Grisham's best novel to date
