Rating: Summary: A Terrible Read Review: I was so disappointed in this book. I understand where Kwan was trying to go with the book, but the book should've been edited better before release. Sometimes it read like a book other times it read like a bad play.
Rating: Summary: Gangsta is a definite page turner Review: I picked this book up on a whim (Just because of the title). This book is a page turner from beginning to end and keeps the drama and excitement going all through the book. Lou-Loc is definitely a hard/tender-hearted player who is not to be toyed with in any kind of way. I think this book good have been proofread a little more (This didn't cause a problem while reading if you know how to adjust yourself & understand the street lango). The book was so good that it made you overlook any mis-placed/spelled words. If the rest of Kwans' books are as good as this one, then we should enjoy them just as much. Keep up the good work Kwan.
Rating: Summary: MUST READ Review: This book was very good. If you like street books you must read this. This book is very grity it tells the story of Lou-loc a crip from the west coast that moves to the east and brings the crip banging to Harlem. Basically there is a color war with the bloods and crips through out the whole book. This book was very well written and he paints a perfect picture of what turf wars are all about. It also has a love story in this book which makes it all the better. I would definatly recommend this book. Great job K'wan I look forward to reading more of your books.
Rating: Summary: Keepin it gansta with your bad self! Review: K'wan book was like I was there and I kept visualizing what the people looked like. This booked really had my interest. I couldn't put it down cause I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Thanks to Vickie Stringer's e-mail I wouldn't have know. This story was like that! Can't wait for the next.
Rating: Summary: Taking us back Review: Snuck a peek at it and was impressed. Gangsta was a solid read. The way Kwan takes you through the pages and kick steet slang, is like a rebirth of the novels we loved from the 70's, with a modern twist. This kid has got something for the new generation. He might be the second coming? If you wanna enjoy a banging street tale, buy GANGSTA!!!
Rating: Summary: THIS ISNT HIS BEST WORK! Review: I mean sure vickie gave him his start, but he could have done better. Vicki can teach him alot. Her novels have depth, and entice the reader, keeping them hungary page after page!
Rating: Summary: Fire Review: All I can say is, this book is fire. If you don't own it, you dont know good literature.
Rating: Summary: YEAH!!! Review: "Gangsta," is a story that's written straight from the soul. The characters come at you in such a way, you feel like you're watching a movie instead of reading a book. This book is one that people will be talking about for many years to come. The kid has finally made his presence felt. Now that's Gangsta!
Rating: Summary: GOOD Review: I read this book to long ago to get into detail but I remember that it was a good book that kept me interested. I recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Just okay, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed Review: Well first of all, there are some real gang references in here. over the top stuff that i thought ceased to exist after colors the movie and NWA's straight outta compton. its hard for me to believe that gangs are still this strong on the streets. you have to read it to judge for yourself but clearly this book is written from a crips perspective. it kind of dogged bloods so i wondered if the writer had other ulterior motives. i didnt feel compassion at all for these sketchy characters. i am embarrassed i made such a big deal for my local Borders to stock this book only to find it to be an okay read and as noted before in DESPERATE need of a spell check program. it boasts of such fashions as "pradda" and "dolce grabbana". i'm serious yall the editors' pay should be docked!! the story was unbelievable enough a la carte but throw in some seedy hardcore gangbangers, some scandalous dominican chics and 'El Diablo' plus a mock black panther islamic nation and what you are left with is the feeling you just read a story that you or I could have easily written better ourselves :)
