Rating: Summary: I THOUGHT I WAS WATCHING PLAYERS CLUB Review: Good book but it resembled Players Club. Shannon Holmes should have distributed before the movie came out. B-More Careful was a lot more original.
Rating: Summary: A NICE READ Review: I LIKE THESE TYPE OF GHETTO-FIED STORIES SO IT WAS A REALLY NICE READ
Rating: Summary: Bad Girlz Review: This was a very enjoyable book. Like another reader said.... I thought I was reading the script to players club, some of the parts where very similar. But it quickly strayed away from the players club story line and made its on. My first book I read by Shannon Holmes was B-more Careful which you should mos def go check out. I checked this book because I thought it was going to be just as good but I was a little disappointed. Even though it was a nice effort it could have ended different. And been longer but I'm glad I took the time out to read it and suggest you check it out for yourself. The best part of the book was when Tender finally pulled Kat hoe card. Making the book longer could have been filled with what happen to Tender after she got her life back right and what happened with Kat's son. And this book need some dates winter, summer, fall spring, Years days...something. I give this book 3 1/2 out of 5. And I give B-more Careful 7 out of 5....it went above and beyond.
Rating: Summary: Very Good.... Review: this was my first Shannon Holmes book and i was very impressed. the book is a good example of how "everything that glitters aint gold".....for those that arent into the strippin game, its shows you that its a use or be used world and that someone will pay a heavy price somewhere along the way....i guess its time for a brother to read B-More Careful.....onelove
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This story was so breathtaking! Reading this story made me think of the movie Player's Club, but in my opinion, it was WAY better. In fact, over this past summer, I felt a little pressed for cash and considered dancing. However, I did not go through with it and I'm glad I didn't. Once I picked up this book and started reading it, I could not put it down. I was brokenhearted when the book came to an end almost as soon as I started. It should have been a little longer. I think it would be a great idea for this book to become a movie! In fact, it should become an HBO movie, something like "the Wire," or "The Corner." Anyone who has no idea what the adult industry is like should definitely read this book.
Rating: Summary: A definite page turner! Review: I liked this book although it seemed like I was reading the script to the movie 'Players Club'. Certain parts confused me but overall I enjoyed it. I also thought it could have been longer. I look forward to Shannon's next novel.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad Review: This book isn't bad...it just isn't good either. Although Mr. Holmes writes flashbacks providing background information about each of main the characters, thus letting the reader know what lead them to their current circumstances, a lot was left to be desired. I never understood that if Goldie wanted to leave so badly, why didn't she just go? I found it hard to believe that Kat was taking ALL of her money making it impossible for Goldie to stash in order to get from under her wing. Goldie was a shamefully powerless character. Weak in the mind with a tough-girl demeanor. Yuck. I also didn't understand the Jules' shooting scene at all. Goldie hated Kat. Why in the world did she kill for her? Jules could have been written out of the story completely and it wouldn't have made much difference in the outcome of the book. Right before Kat kicked Goldie out, Goldie had been upstairs packing her suitcases with every intent to leave anyway, trying to find the courage to break the news to Kat. Why in the world did Goldie show resistance when Kat kicked her out? Why did she ask where she should go? Where was she planning to go with her bags already packed? I also didn't understand why Goldie didn't try to reach Tender on her cell phone since it was obvious that she couldn't get to Tender through Kat. Did anyone else notice that the ending narration in one of the chapters stated that it would be the last time that Goldie spoke to Kat, yet, she spoke to her again in one of the following chapters? Shame on Mr. Holmes for his lack of synchronization in this story. I thought a lot of other pieces of the book were also missing and there was no real climax in the story. The characters were niave and unbelievable and the ending was dull and ill. Even though the fight between Kat and Tender seemed to be pulled right from Players Club (the dressing room fight between Ronnie and Diamond - where's Cube's credits?), don't compare this to the movie. Players Club was better, hands down!
Rating: Summary: Bad Girlz! you gotta be more careful! Review: I can only say one thing about this book, and Author...you're Great! You are from ,the real streets. "With no holds bar". Mr.Holmes, you are a remarkable writer. I can respect an author such as yourself. Who talks about the streets. On the Real tip, not some make believe mess, and I love you for that. I'm always searching for your books so keep it comin. Your #1 Fannnnnnnnn Peace!
Rating: Summary: Alright Book Review: This book was oookaaay. It was kinda slow and it reminded me of the movie Player's Club. Kat reminded me of Ronnie, and Tender reminded me of Diamond and Goldie was the cousin. I expected something way better after reading B-more careful. Oh well maybe next time.
