Rating: Summary: Bomb A$$ Book Review: When i first saw this book sitting on the shelf at Barnes and Noble i knew i had to buy it. From remembering the last Shannon Holmes book i read. B more Careful. I knew i was in for a treat. Bad Girlz, is defenately worth the lil bti of money. I often ncuaght myself reading the book thinking. OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!! And goin to my friends saying 'Guess what this heifer did now.' It felt real to me and like i could actuall see all of this stuff going down. I give this book 5 stars and i cant wait till Shannon writes another book. This review might not have helped much but i had to just say soemthing to prove how it good it was. PS: I like B More Careful alot more than this one but this one is just as equally good.
Rating: Summary: An interesting book Review: I thought this book was excellent. It is centered around three females whose own life struggles and misfourtnes somehow brought them together. It gives the reader an exciting look inside the life of a stripper, for those who wonder what its like in the fast lane. It also gives examples of how one mistake change your life in seconds.
Rating: Summary: Lessons in family and friendship Review: Bad Girlz takes you into the world of three strippers; Tender, Goldie, and Kat. Tonya 'Tender' Morris is raised by her single mother in a strict household. Tonya's mother thought she was doing the best she could so that Tonya would not end up like her, a pregnant teen. Due to circumstances beyond Tonya's control, she was left abandoned. She can't believe her mother would do something like this to her. Tonya moved from family member to family member, but no one wanted to take her in permanently. Tonya eventually winds up on the street sneaking into boys' bedrooms for a place to sleep and food in exchange for sex . When Tonya hooks up with Todd he introduces her to his cousin Katrina 'Kat.' Kat takes Tonya home to live with her and Gloria 'Goldie' Cruz. Kat starts Tonya stripping at the clubs around Philly and New Jersey. Tonya needs a stage name and Kat and Goldie come up with 'Tender.' Kat, Goldie and Tender are three of the hottest dancers in the area and all the pimps want a piece of the action. Events lead to a pimp being killed and one on the strippers is on the run for her life. Shannon Holmes has done a good job on his sophomore book delving into the life of an abandoned teenager turned stripper. It's an interesting and fast paced read. This is a very good follow-up to B-More Careful. Tracey R.E.A.L Reviewers
Rating: Summary: This is the BOMB... Review: If you ever wonder how can those girls do that? Read this book and it will open your eyes. The first chapter got me, and it only did because it was so true.
Rating: Summary: Good Review: It took me one day to finish this book just like "B-more careful". I think Shannon Holmes is a talented writer. I look forward to reading his future work.
Rating: Summary: WHATEVER-- Review: Shannon Holmes is indeed a talented writer, but come on...isn't this "caught in the game" scenario getting a little redundant. I predicted almost every situation in this novel, it was ridculous, its the same ol' story: young girl leaves home because of abuse, abandonment and lack of love, gets "caught in the game"-meaning becomes a stripper, encounters various problems, and then learns her lesson. I guess I can say I had many problems with the book, one being it's consistency. Holmes wasn't consistent when it came to Goldie's character--its seemed like her substance abuse problem wasn't really put into effect until after she hit New York, all the while Holmes made it seem like she was doing this all the time. Then he was depicting her as a woman trying to change her life around, but had her using drugs and reading the Bible. I didn't like that combination--PERSONALLY! It just seemed like, even as the book was about Tender, it concentrated more on Kat, I felt like I didn't KNOW Goldie enough--Holmes should have introduced, depicted and involved his characters equally so that his readers could understand them better. Then, the ending of the story left me hanging. It seemed like at the end Holmes was trying to hurry up and end the novel, instead of keep the reader grasped. I felt like Quentin and Tender should have been together at the end, and I felt like Quentin should have been more part of her life. I think it takes a lot to write a novel, and Holmes did an okay job, there were just some things missing.
Rating: Summary: Real Good Book Review: I enjoyed this book very much. I thought that Shannon Holmes did a good job with it. I will admit that it is not good like "B-More Careful. I liked the character Tender. I thought she was a strong-willed person despite everything she's gone through. Good job Shannon Holmes.
Rating: Summary: Short but full of excitement! Review: Great follow up to "B-more careful". Once again Shannon shows his knowledge of the streets and this time he reveals all the dangers that lurk for women who choose the dangerous life of being an exotic dancer. There was not one part of the book that didn't bring excitement. Truly a page turner.
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT! Review: I absolutely LOVED Bad Girlz. I read it in the car while traveling south and couldn't put it down. It's a GREAT BOOK. Can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: Good Read! Review: Overall, this was a good book. Good story with storylines that are so true to the game...3 women seems to learn about life in their different ways and 1 woman lived to talk about her experiences. Shannon is a good writer, he seems to keep your nose pressed to the book which is a good thing...It even help more when the author is talking from experience...
