Summary: Pretty good read
Review: I thought the book was a pretty good read but could have been better. The ending was ok and it did remind me of "The Player's Club" with Kat being Ronnie and Tender being Diamond. There were some missing parts and last but not least, it showed how not only desperate men go to strip clubs, pay women for sex, and how we really have sick people in this world and how strippers aren't only stripping and or at the clubs, but also prostituting. I liked how the author told some back ground information on these women.
But overall, the book was pretty good, gives a good message, is worth buying, and adding to your collection of books. I would recommend this book to anyone who is into drama, drug books, and stripping/sex books. I just wished she could have gotten her mother's boyfriend back "Pete" for doing that to her and I also wished that she would have gotten Kat back herself.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: First of all, I hate reviews that give up the book. I enjoyed the book. It was not as original as B-More Careful. And yes it did remind me of Player's Club, but it had its own differences. If you haven't read B-More Careful, please do. It is off the chain!! I was torn between giving the book 3 stars or 4 stars. The book is fast paced with alot of twists and turns. I never got bored with the book and that is the reason I gave it 4 stars. The book is basically about girls that try to make lemonade with the lemons of life. And they do it by stripping. Two girls in particular get up under this girl named Kat, who is [really bad]. I wanted to kick [Kat] myself! Tender and Goldie are basically settling for stripping because they feel like they don't have a choice. The only thing that got me is that some of the things were to stupid and Shannon made Tender and Goldie to gullible. How are they able to buy Gucci glasses, burberry fits, stilettos, for just one outfit and be worried about where to lay thier head? They could afford their own crib. Nobody is that gullible. Then Goldie was to gullible for me at the end of the book. I can't give it away. Read it for yourself.

Summary: Nothing Like Be-More Careful
Review: This book was ok I didn't really care for the street slang. be More Careful was much better. This book was Ok. And whoever said it was like watching the movie Players Club they were correct.

Summary: Oh My God ---Please!!!
Review: I'm sorry, i am so sick of these hood books. Every plot is the same:

1. Girl leaves home/has abusive home life/raped by uncle, father, father figure/cousin/dad/someone

2. Winds up a stripper/ho/numbers runner/drug addict

3. Has unprotected sex/gets murdered/becomes a player or playette/baller (take you pick)

4. Man is either in jail/numbers runner/drug dealer/pimp

5. Either ends up: dead/own business/getting away from her past life

What bothered me about this book is that it was written in ebonics, so to follow it I felt like I was reading 21st century Paul Laurence Dunbar (If you have to ask, then you just don't know). While the plot was surprisingly on track, I just felt like enough already, there has to be something else to read.

I'm sure Mr. Holmes is writing about what he knows. And I'm sure that these individuals have had hard times. But to continue to read books like this only depresses me to the point of not wanting to support these authors for lack of originality. There has to be a balance y'all.

Summary: Pretty Good!
Review: Although there is no comparison to his famous 'B-More Careful', Shannon Holmes did a good job keeping my attention with 'Bad Girlz'. Extensive background information on Tender and Goldie gave me a better insight on what led them to become strippers. Both women are under the control of fellow stripper Kat. Kat's sinister ways and influence push Tender and Goldie to the ultimate limits of survival. Tender showed she had what it took to successfully get through her destructive situation while Goldie was less fortunate. Those who said this book bears similarities to the movie 'Players Club' were on point! But as always it is a different experience when you read the written word. So whats next from Shannon Holmes? I don't know but I am ready and waiting!

Summary: "B-More Careful" with the choices you Make
Review: Drugged and raped by her mothers' boyfriend, abandoned by her mother at seventeen; Tonya aka Tender Morris is forced onto the streets. Gloria aka Goldie Cruz believes she committed a vicious and unforgivable act which leaves her motherless and homeless.

Both down on their luck at separate times, they run into Katrina aka Kat Carter who they believe is their savior and friend. Together Tender and Goldie both good girls in horrible situations become "Bad Girlz."

I have read several urban novels in the past five years, some authors place more emphasis on the language others "the game"
Shannon Holmes blends all aspects together producing a novel that any literary critic will give two thumbs up. Bestselling urban author Shannon Holmes did a good job telling a story about pimpin, hookin, strippin, and chasin paper. Once you get pass the characters dialect the rest is smooth sailing.

This novel is for fans of street life and inner city communities, if this is not your genre do not pick up the book and trash it. Every author has their own audience.
Good Job!

Summary: The Life of a Bad Girl
Review: How do good girls become bad girls? The story of Kat, a seasoned exotic dancer,
her conflicted crony Goldie and the young, impressionable Tender whom they have
taken under their wings tell you how good girls become bad girls.

After Tender was raped in her home, her mother goes into denial, refusing to
believe Tender's accusations and abandons her, leaving her to fend for herself.
Recognizing Tender's time of need, Kat comes to her rescue in the
same way she had previously rescued Goldie when she was alone in the world, by
introducing her to the life of a bad girl.

Shannon Holmes' sophomore novel BAD GIRLZ, is a gritty street tale of what
happens to desperate young girls looking for love, acceptance and of course
money. Despite its predictability and a slight character mix-up, this novel is
a much better attempt than his previous work.

Summary: Player's Club in a book form
Review: This book reminded me a lot of " Player's Club" With only a few different twist. I think "B-More Careful" was better but this book was good. I finished it in a day and a half. The sad part of the story is that there are girls that are really like the characters in this book.

Summary: What goes around comes around!
Review: Intresting characters. This fascinating plot takes you into the world of strip clubs and the people who work in them and frequent them. Extensive back ground information on each of the three young heroine strippers Tender, Goldie and Kat. Set in Philadelphia this modern day drama moved along quickly enough to keep me hooked.
Mr Holmes keeps it real especially when sad, broken, drugged up Goldie moves to Third Street in Mount Vernon. Knowing the area I knew her fate even before I read it! I was glad that b***h Kat got what she deserved! what goes around comes around. I enjoyed this book and was happy with the out come. Yes it is a book worth reading.

Summary: I liked this book.
Review: This book was good. Although it moved so quickly throughout the book, and was kind of hard to follow what was going on most of the time, it was a good book. i wouldn't buy it, i would borrow it from someone else.
