Summary: A wonderful variation on a theme
Review: Like other readers, I have read previous books by Perdue, including The Linz Testament. I find this book a much improved variation on the themes that he explored in the Linz Testament. While similar, I find Daughter of God has much, much more depth, more to think about and more interesting characters who have better motivations and change in more fascinating ways than the characters in Linz. This is by far a better book.

The way that Perdue manages to weave fact and fiction seamlessly together and the marvelous way he kept me asking myself "could this, DID this really happen" made for a rewarding read. While this works so very well as a thriller, he made me examine my own faith along the way.

Summary: Astounding journey of faith inside a thriller
Review: I've enjoyed Perdue's books over the years and always found them a fast entrancing read. But this one is all that AND an intense journey of faith that has had me examining my own beliefs. The resarch and detail support the action that moves like lightning. And somehow, he manages to get in some pretty substantial points without slowing things down. He gets a little preachy in a couple of places when one of his characters makes a point about religious bigotry, but it doesn't get in the way of the story.

This is one of those rare thrillers with a woman as protagonist where she is neither superwoman nor the damsel in distress.

Summary: A Little Story
Review: I read Daughter of God and it's really good. Logically I want to read more books by this great author so I go looking for his books. Imagine my suprise when I find that the book called the Linz Testament is a older version of Daughter of God. Obviously I was Rather Upset. Now, all this isn't to say you shouldn't read Daughter Of God. It's just a warning so you don't have the same suprise.

Summary: The Daughter of God: The 2nd Coming For The 2nd Time
Review: Lewis Purdue has written an excellent thriller based on the idea that, during the first millinium, a female messiah named Sophia was murdered by powerful elements in the Catholic Church and the secret has been kept until now.Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Mr. Purdue has published this story.

I have been a fan of Mr. Purdue's thrillers for decades. He had an earlier career as a writer of thriller/espionage fiction in the '70s and '80s, after which he began to write non-fiction texts about winemaking, etc. During his initial thriller period, Mr. Purdue wrote several novels, including "The Linz Testament" (TLT), which was about, you guessed it, a female messiah in the first millenium......

"The Daughter of God" (DOG) is essentially a light reworking of TLT. Most of the same characters are present, but they have been renamed. The plot is the same, however the scenes have been revamped somewhat.

I was a bit disappointed. I hate paying twice for the same book with the same plot and the same characters. Come on, Lewis, please get busy and write another of the finely crafted novels for which you are justifiably famous. Only this time, make it a new one.

Summary: This book will shake the very core of your faith.
Review: This book more than any other I have read has nailed the very thoughts I have had my entiire life. Thoughts and questions that had the nuns requesting that my mother no longer bring me to Sunday school, and that she consider enrolling me in a public school because my kind of question were not appreciated by the church. And never would be.Daughter of God addresses the the thoughts and questions so many have asked, and while a work of fiction gave me hope that one day there will be members of the church who will accept woman as and integral part of the faith. The delicate weaving of the past and present held me so riveted that I finished the book in two days.Perdue has created a fantastic thriller that almost had me believing the Sophia Passion. The only disappointment I had was finding out that, while listed on the back, none of Perdues' earlier works are still in print. It's a shame after reading such an amazing story that I can't run to the book store, or jump on line and just get another book by such an artistic storyteller.

Summary: A Really Good Read
Review: Wow! What a page turner. I really couldn't put this book down. It has a really unique and intriguing premise and is well executed in a way that makes it exciting to read while giving the reader some thought provoking ideas to ponder. A female messiah and the potential ramifications are something I haven't seen before in a thriller and it was fun to watch Perdue weave fact and fiction together throughout the book. I haven't read a book in a very long time that I enjoyed this much. I will definitely be recommending it to all me friends as a must read.

Summary: A VERY DIFFERERNT BUT SENSATIONAL THRILLER
Review: Christianity strictly believes that Christ is the Son of God. The Vatican has ruthlessly suppressed that they are convinced another Messiah Sophia lived in Ancient Times. In 310 AD, the men of King Constantine murdered her for fear that her life would destroy the power of the Roman Empire and the Holy Church.

In the present era, a dying Nazi asks art dealer Zoe Ridgeway to return the stolen collection he took during the war to its rightful owners. He also wants her spouse Seth to translate the story of Sophia into English. However, before they can begin, assailants steal the artwork, kill its "owner," and kidnap Zoe. The record of Sophia vanishes. The Russian Mafia holds her prisoner in the hopes of negotiating a deal that will bring needed currency to their country. Certain Vatican officials want Sophia's Passion (the gold box that contains an account of her life). Seth wants Zoe safely returned to him, but realizes that he and his spouse know too much about Sophia for the Vatican to allow them to live.

DAUGHTER OF GOD is an action-packed thriller that ties together an art theft, a conspiracy that has existed for over a millennium, and a religious philosopher. Although the action never slows down, the characters drive the plot to its triumphant conclusion. Readers will care about Zoe and Seth while appreciating and understanding the motives of the antagonists (Russian and Vatican). This makes for a realistic feel to the rich story line. Fans know that Lewis Perdue soars with the best writers of the new millennium and will demand a prequel that stars the female Messiah.

Summary: A nice book
Review: This book is well written and researched, although it is not really a thriller like "Da Vinci Code," I became bored several times. Also almost every character in the book is eventually dead, sometimes after speaking just a few words. Besides you will find a lot of unrealistic escapes. But if you like to read about philosophy and religion in an action-type book, you will oversee these shortcomings. There are not a lot of books of this kind, so I recommend it to everybody.

Summary: Written BEFORE the Da Vinci Code
Review: This book was written three years before The Da Vinci Code. I read Daughter of God several years ago and The Da Vinci Code within the last year, and I must say that if you're looking for a book that reads like a cheap action flick, go to the Da Vinci Code, but if you want something with more depth, a better story line and more accuracy read Daughter of God.

The Da Vinci Code was a knock-off, this is the real deal. It's one of the best books I've ever read and comes down off my bookshelf often.

Summary: facts, what facts?
Review: This is a great premise, and the Sophia plot is convincingly presented, as far as it goes. Sadly, Perdue wants to be Thomas Gifford (The Assissini) without the homework. The number of errors in church history (not cover-up sort of stuff, just plain and simple goofs) is staggering. If you don't care about someone (mis)taking the real info and making a good yarn out of it, this is a fairly zippy read. If you want conspiracy based on good research, read Gifford.
