Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: The best lullaby ever written. Review: This book bored me. I would never have finished it, if I didn't have to for class. Anytime I had trouble sleeping read a page and my problem was solved. The first half was dull no attention grabbing anything it was all boring detail. The book finally got a little better at the end. The ending I think was written the best was it could have been.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Taste it for yourself Review: I relished every sumptuous flavor of Cold Mountain. It's to be indefinately imbedded on my mind, the travels of inman and his thoughts on the journey. The book made more clear to me the fragility of life and it's lack of appreciation for it that is so common. To think humans come to deal with death as any other daily happening wrenches my stomach into parts. You see, the war aspect is what touched me in a repulsive way. Yet, it is a realistic way of viewing things I suppose. I did really enjoy the movie perfect description of all the goings on throughout the book. I think that reading Cold Mountain can be comparable to a jouney through one's inner self. I know other books that are that way but this one is beyond. However, nothing I say is of any relivance because everyone should read books for themselves. We all make different relations to events, thoughts, and feelings expressed by the characters. So, what is my recommendation? Reach for the nearest copy of Cold Mountain and write your own review after tasting the delicacies of Robert Frazier's mind.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: If library book, would not have finished it Review: I really enjoyed this book...for a school book. Being the first Junior class (Coventry High School) was different. Knowing that noone else my age had read this was odd. Adults could not believe that we were reading Cold Mountain and I don't know why. There was nothing wrong with the book. My favorite part of the book were all the Ada chapters. Knowing what the womanwent through during the Civil War was what interests me. The only thing you learn in school is what the battles were and what the soldiers were doing so I loved how Frazier detailed the womans role in the war. Again if it was a library book i would not have finished for the fact that it was a Civil War novel. I hate books about the Civil War but this one was different. The characters were not battling but trying to get home to the one they loved. Which was great!!! Charles Frazier had great detail. When I was reading it I felt like I was part of the book. You could see exactly what was happening. Charles Frazier wrote and excellent novel...about the Civil War.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A book that needs only one chacter, Inman Review: Cold Mountain had so much potential to be an all-time great book. But the dull attempt at romance seems to hinder every chapter. Charles Frazier could be a great action author, but he needs to stay away from passion. It seemed that every other chapter was good, and those chapters seemed to be without romance. It is that the romance of the story kills the action and heart of the book.To make the book enjoyable, read chapters 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, ect... They happen to be all Inman chapters!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: "A grueling adventure through words" Review: This being the first book I finished since 3rd grade, I would have to say I will read more now. This is the kind of book students need to read in class it is a real wakeup call for real life. Throughout the book the characters endeavor many hardships and overcome the terrible situations the Mt. throws at them. After many hair raising experiences and death filled endings, the book still had its touchy-feely sad moments which gave the book a diverse conclusion. To finish my review I'll say just read it and write your own review.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: One of the best books I've read in a long time. Review: Charles Frazier keeps you waiting in intense suspense. Waiting for Inman and Ada to reunite (and wandering if they ever will),will keep you on the edge of your seat. The entire novel gets you so involved that the end is the hardest to accept. It was entirely realistic and awful...that's why I loved it!!! Ada's conflicts with the trials of everyday life were the most interesting chapters.Ruby and Ada are a dynamic duo; and longlasting friends. I'm anxious to see how they make the movie. It has the makes to be a great one, but if they cut the wrong scenes, they could butcher the entire story. By itself, it creates a most vivid movie in my mind. I think I would have enjoyed the book more had I not read it as part of an English class. I still enjoyed it, and plan to read it again.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A literature masterpiece Review: I felt that the book Cold Mountain was well written and was very visual. I enjoyed this book so well that I suggested it to all of my friends and family members. this is not the type of book I would normally pick up and start reading. I think the author did a very impressive job in writting it and look forward to reading his next book. When I talked to my grandmother about it shew told me that her friend in her book club did not like it at all. I felt that this woman should be stripped of all reading privalages because she has terrible taste in literature. I think that all high school students should be given a chance to read it. I also fell that all future literature majors should read this book. I am very proud to say that I conqured Cold Mountain and enjoyed the trip. I hope the rest of my eleventh grade classmates enjoyed it.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Detail, detail, detail!!! Review: Well, I'll start you off by telling you that we HAD to read this book for class. This book is not too hard to understand, but it does drag a lot. If you don't like a lot of detail, then I don't recommend this book. In most of Inman's chapters, he goes into a lot of strong detail about his surroundings, and what he is thinking. There are a few funny things in this book, but not a whole lot. My favorite characters in this book are Junior and all the characters who revolve around him, but especially Junior. Compared to most other books that I have been forced to read in class, this book was great. It did have WAY too much detail, but at least you know what is going on all the time without having to read into the words and sentences too much. It is a great book to read in class because of the vivid details you can't forget things (especially on a test, unless you have Mr.J for a teacher and he makes up weird tests).
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: This book has everything in it from adventure to love. Review: I enjoyed the book tremendously. It kept me holding on wondering when Ada and Inman would finally meet. I loved the dash of humor that Charles added here and there to keep you reading and awake. It started out slow, but I found that the longer I kept with it, the better it got. I loved the ending! It was a little bit of the ending you wanted, yet a little bit of the ending you needed. This book has everything in it from adventure to humor to love.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: "The book that's Illustrated without pictures" Review: Being of the first generation of students to read this book, I think that if it were a fraction harder, it would be too hard. This book was of ideal quality for the average junior. Every story I ever wrote in my life, I was constantly warned, not "too much" detail! That's horrible! Too much detail is worse than not enough. Then we go read this book and get told how wonderful it is. Teachers will be hypocrites like that. But hey, as long as you're a famous author, you're allowed to break the rules, right?
