Summary: Building an empire
Review: Bernard 'Dutch' James is on trial for, well, everything; murder, thievery, victimization, and cruelty. Dutch was deemed a cold blooded murderer at the age of 14 when he killed a thief that tried to rob the pizza shop where he worked. By disposing of the body, the Italian Mafia took notice of him. This put him in a good light with the Italian Mafia at a very early age.

Dutch and his best friend, Christopher "Craze" Shaw started working for the Mafia stealing high end cars and taking them to a chop shop. Dutch got together a select few that he could trust and had the same interest. There was One Eyed Roc, Qwan, Puerto Rican Angel, Zoom, Shock, and of course Craze. This crew was a wild and crazy bunch. They stick together through thick and then. In a car heist gone bad, Dutch & Qwan get caught and go to prison. They did 18 months and were released and back on the streets to get right back into the life. When Dutch came out he immediately got into the drug business; getting his crew back together and setting his plan in motion. This begins the rise of Dutch the Drug Kingpin.

Dutch is the first part of a trilogy by Teri Woods. Some parts in the book, such as the courtroom scenes are a little slow, but the flashbacks do make up for these parts. Also be aware that some parts can get quite graphic in description. The author does a good job of leaving you wanting more as she should since this is part of a series.

Summary: fantastic
Review: Dutch was a true page turner and it held my interest from the first page.I anxiously await the sequels and I'd be very interested in what happens with he and his parents. Being from the southide of Chicago, I could feel where this story was coming from, I actually visualized the story as I read it. Dutch is a true gangster by all accounts and to have this story told from a female perspective was awsome.

Summary: True Crimes
Review: DUTCH: THE FIRST OF A TRILOGY is a bone-chilling tale of murder, power and retribution, which vividly highlights the crime riddled existence of notorious Newark gangster, Bernard James, AKA Dutch.

Dutch's life of crime begins at about the age of 14, when he cunningly capitalizes on a botched robbery attempt against a business owner with close ties to the mob. Dutch cold-heartedly tricks and kills the would be perpetrator, to the shocked relief of the mobster and then calmly disposes of the body. Appreciative, he soon introduces Dutch to "Fat Tony", a reputed mob boss, who is so impressed by Dutch's heinous act that he takes him under his protection and rewards him with a coveted connection to a "chop shop," which only dealt in luxury cars. Thus began Dutch's criminal legacy, which grows to gigantic proportions and culminates in his being put on trial for a murderous rampage labeled "the month of murder." The District Attorney appears to have an airtight case, which does not bode well for Dutch. But an ever resourceful Dutch has no plans to live his life in prison and quickly orchestrates a plan to avenge those who would dare to attempt to usurp his meteoric rise to the top.

DUTCH: THE FIRST OF A TRILOGY is a fast moving story with ruthless dialogue and a plot that goes into detail after gory detail of Dutch's bizarre life of crime. This thoroughly absorbing and harrowing tale reads like a work of fiction and is one that will keep any lover of this genre captivated. The story ends with an unexpected spine-tingling twist that is almost unparalleled in its shock-value.

Summary: I Should Of Ditched Dutch
Review: I don't know if I want to finish the trilogy of Dutch. The book was so boring; I only finished it to find out what was going to happen in the end. It was not good at all.

Dutch was suppose to be this hardcore thug that killed and cut heads of and all this theatrical stuff, but it just didn't make for a book, it made for more of a low budget movie. Dutch and all of his so called crew were so corny.
