Summary: My favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite book!
Review: First of all, I cannot believe that some people gave this book a bad review. They had to have been reading it upside-down or something. I must confess that I didn't get the full meaning of this book right away, I'm only an eleven-year-old. But if I live to be a 111 year-old I know I'll still remember reading this book. The translation used poor English occasionally but it was easy to understand. The explict simplicity of Remarque's writing made the story very dramatic. The book made me understand the tragedy of war, not only does it take lives but it causes degeneration of the human sprirt. I could offer an endless soliloquy about this book, I could speak for lifetimes and never get the full meaning across. What I mean is: READ THE BOOK!

Summary: This is a wonderful book to read about war.
Review: I have just finished reading All Quiet on the Western Front. When I first received the book I figured it was going to be boring, but I wrong with that assumption. This is a great book to read the story is filled with tons of detail. When you first start reading the book it gets off to a slow start, but once you get going you don't want to put the book down. This book is a real attention getter. It makes you wonder what if that was me who had to be fighting in that war. All of the men that had to fight in this war had to leave there friends and family. I is heart braking to read about some of the men and there wives they had to leave behind. Paul and all of his friends were injuried at one point and time. I don't think that any one could have gone through that war without being injured. The train that the people were in while they were waiting to get better or get help was horrible. You never knew whether or not you were going to wake up the next morning with your friend lying dead next to you or not. All of the soldiers showed a lot of courage by fighting in the war. The one thing that is even worse than fighting in this war, is when Paul was sent home for a leave befor going to the abonded village and he didn't feel as though he belonged there. He was gone for a short period of time then and he felt like a stranger in his own home and home town. I think that Erich Maria Remarque is a remarkable writer. He keeps the reader involved at all times throughout the book. He keeps the soldiers moving around so that the reader doesn't get bored with the story. This is a great book to read and is very interesting.

Summary: My opinion on All Quiet...
Review: This book is by far my favorite of the novels I have read on 20th century warfare. A timeless classic that is read by ALL of my students.

Summary: I would recommend this book to anybody.
Review: I had to read this book for my senior English class. When my teacher first told my class that we had to read it I thought the book was going to be extremely boring. I don't like war movies or any of those things. So I figured I was going to hate the book. Plus some of my friends that read the book earlier in the year said it was REALLY boring. They were sure wrong about that! I thought the book was excellent. There was awesome imagery in it. Sometimes when I was reading it I felt like I was in the war. I know that sounds silly but its true! There are some parts in the book where it really pulls your emotions. It makes you want to laugh but cry all at the same time. I think it was good for me because it gave me more respect for the United States military. Before reading this book I really didn't know what our military has to go through. The pain of losing a friend, losing body parts, or even the pain of losing a war. Now I can definately say I have the most respect for the men and women in the military. Thousands upon thousands of lives were lost in the many wars just so that the United States could have freedom. The book has made me realize this. I am not an avid reader but I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to anybody.

Summary: Give it another shot
Review: I had to read this book for a college history class when I was 18. Of course I didn't read it then. Mandatory reading leeches all joy from books, and besides, there was beer to drink. I read about 20 pages, then put it down and asked everyone else what happened so I wouldn't fail the essay questions on the book. I still had the book lying around, and one day I read it (I think I was 20 then, I am 26 now). I was amazed. I read it twice that year, and twice more in the years since. If you didn't like this book when you had to read it in school, I recommend that you give it another chance. As of now, 4/99, this is my second favorite book. Catch-22 is 1st.

Summary: All Quiet on the Western Front
Review: All quiet on the Western Front depicted war very well. It portrayed the images of war in great detail. The book grabs you and makes you want to read more. At times it can be very depressing, but it was and still is the reality of war.

Summary: It was Great!!!
Review: I recently read this book and found it detailed, funny, and very entertaining. Though a book of this sort tends to be huge and boring, Remarques' "All Quiet on the Western Front" was fact-filled and yet entertaing. It made lite of the horrors of war, but was detailed in its descriptions. I would recomend it to any reader looking for a good book.

Summary: Superb psychological evaluation
Review: I am sixteen and i read this book, I really do love and understand historical accounts, especially books that delve into the psychological aspects of events in history. If you want a book to read just for entertainment and action do not buy this book. I sometimes get aggravated at class mates who when approached about wars in history just shrug it off and dont care like it meant nothing. This book delves into the personal thoughts and feelings of the characters, and there are many symbolic figures of life and death.

Summary: It takes you there...
Review: I just finished this book and all that I can say is that it completely sucked me into the story even though I knew it would break my heart in the end. The story begins on a good note, but you can feel the loss and deprivation that will come from the second chapter when the protagonist sees his old schoolmaster dieing from the operation that amputated his leg. This book really takes you there (that may be why some people phrase it as boring) Mr Remarque served in the German Army in WWI and he knew what he was talking about. A wonder tribute to Mr Remarque is that this book is still regularly banned in countries mobilising for war
