Rating: Summary: A book with a lasting impression. Review: I love this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a challenging read and a carefully crafted story. It explores the strangeness of life that few people can explain, and make acceptable, the way that Irving can. The characters become so real that you never want the story to end.
Rating: Summary: Amazing...A must read Review: I read Owen 5 years ago. When I read it I found myself crying out loud, laughing out loud, smiling, holding my breath - you name it. Since then I have purchased more than 6 copies for myself and each time have lent them to various friends and family members. They, in turn, have enjoyed the book as much as I did and have passed them onto other friends. A great book and my most favorite.
Rating: Summary: Good read, but not Irving's best. Review: The story line was engaging, the plot good and I had trouble putting it down, but the ending was very predictable and left me feeling let down.
Rating: Summary: Simply the best novel I've ever read Review: This is quite simply the best novel I have ever read in my life, and I have read more than a few. I found myself at times laughing out loud, and at other times crying. There is nothing else I can say that will convey the brilliance of John Irving's "A Prayer for Owen Meany." You'll just have to read it for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Great book for youths. Review: This book was a great experience. Anyone who likes to read most likely will enjoy "A Prayer For Owen Meany". I suggest that you read the book before watching the move entitled "Simon Birch". Amazing detail and discription. An excelent experience.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing Review: One of those rare books. I hated to put it down, and when I did, found my mind wandering back to John and Owen, wondering just where it was they were taking me. How refreshing to totally and completely lose myself in the story!! This book is sticking with me, even days after finishing it. I admit to an immense sadness when the last page was in sight, a feeling reserved for the few of many pages turned. It's an emotional investment you don't even realize you're making. I laughed, gasped, held my breath...you name it; It also gave me "the shivers!". ;)
Rating: Summary: I adore this book because I adored Owen Meany Review: This is by far the best Irving novel I have read.I felt that the characters were so alive and real that I wished I could meet them. The struggle with faith and absolute faith of the friends was beautifully portrayed and I found the book very moving. I read it some time ago but it seems to have stayed with me. I would recommend anyone to read this book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Fiction works of the 20th Century Review: Absolutely fantastic!! This is possibly the best piece of fiction I have ever read. I can not recommend it highly enough. Powerful, hilarious, poignant. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Beautiful Beautifl Review: Just read it. That's my advice. Get it. Read it. Savor it
Rating: Summary: One of My Favorite Books Review: If you've seen the movie it's reminiscent of the feel of the book. I really liked the book and will probably read it again one day, something I NEVER do normally! This is a book that I won't trade or give to a friend. I loved the two main characters' friendship and I like that the book delved more deeply into their relationship and their lives than the movie did. Great book - I highly recommend it.
