Summary: Over-rated
Review: What is all the fuss about this book. Machiavelli's overrated book is nothing more than mindless ramble about principalities and how to get them and how to keep them and generally uninteresting stuff. I thought when I bought it I would be shocked as it's reputation would suggest, but I found myself very disappointed at this boring rubbish. Why everyone finds this book shocking I will never know. Its too short to make interesting reading and most of this book is nothing more than a history lesson. Overrated..........

Summary: a pragmatic approach to politics
Review: This is a great work because it stands the test of time. With followers such as Clinton, Kissinger and Nixon, "the Prince" has proven that ideology from the 16th century still holds true today. This book provides a no-nonsense displaced approach to politics where many decisions based on personal feelings lead to errors. Machiavelli was seen as the devil because he spoke out against the church as just another form of government. he was punished for his views primarily because he spoke the truth. Similarly, other great thinkers by the names of Socrates and Guevara were also persecuted for their long journey along the path of enlightenment that ends in the nirvana of truth.

Summary: Just a protest about calling Machiavelli MacHiavelli...
Review: The question is: the man was Italian, not Scottish! And a great majority of your references use the wrong name.

Summary: Its a great book everyone should read.
Review: I picked up the book and thought that it was great. A really excellent book. It shows you the inside mind of a political genius who is still regarded to this day. I think that everyone should check out this book.

Summary: underappreciated classic
Review: this is one of my all time favorite books. upon reading you may see the world in a new way, for better or worse. contrary to popular belief, machiavelli is not the monster history has made him out to be. in actuality, he favored a republic for florence. this book merely shows his mastery of totalitarian politics, as well as a clear understnading of how the world works.

Summary: For historical politics read modern commerce
Review: Yes this is a marvelous treatise on the politics of Machiavelli's time, but hopefull we have moved on from there. However, if you read this book with the world of commerce and corporate raiding in your mind, it becomes, with a little imagination, a text book on surviving, and dominating the modern world of commerce.

Summary: The ABC of modern politics
Review: Maquiavello lived in a time when the winds of change were blowing hard. Putting salt in the wounds of the absolut monarchy and the church also gives to the politician of today a guideline to perform in public and in private. For common people this masterpiece offers the view of the status quo and lifts there understanding to the high espheres of power
