Summary: The soldier's point of view about Vietnam.
Review: Tim O'Brien was able to capture the beauty of combat in the napalm covered war that was known as Vietnam. Through actual experiences, he told his stories. This book is always contradicting. At times it is sad, serious and numb, where as other times it is fun filled and light. I would recommend this book for people that love O'Brien's work and wish to know the soldier's point of view about Vietnam

Summary: I'm not one to read books, and I couldn't put this one down.
Review: This book is amazing. I read it for my 10th grade English class. I'm not one for reading books, and I couldn't put this one down. Tim O'Brian has a way with verasimilitude. I would recommened this book to anyone, of all ages.

Summary: One chapter captured so accurately my own emotions...
Review: I first encountered Tim O'Brien's fine writing in a short story anthology which included a chapter (On the Rainy River) from The Things They Carried. This chapter seemed to capture so accurately my own emotions of 30 years ago about military service. This led me to read the whole book which I found quite moving.

Summary: His best book yet
Review: The first book I read for school that I actually liked. You will never be able to put it down. It seriously changed the way that I think, and my life all together.

Summary: Another outstanding book by O'Brien!
Review: A riveting, first hand account into the lives of grunts in the Viet Nam conflict.

Summary: The Best Book I've Ever Read !!!!!!!!!
Review: Tim O'Brien's novel is so interesting that I never wanted to put it down. I don't usually enjoy reading books on the war but I felt that this novel was remarkably written.

Summary: I can't think of what to say
Review: How did this book fail to win the Pulitzer or the National Book Award? TTTC is...adjectives fail me...great. At the risk of sounding like a zealot, I would read TTTC everyday if I could. I will never grow tired of it. Rick Bass of the Dallas Morning News said it best--"I have to make you read this book."

Summary: Incredible
Review: The book is shocking, horrifying, and intense. If I had the time, I would have been able to read it in one sitting. One of the few books I have been forced by the school system to read, and have actually enjoyed.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: "The writing is so powerful that it steals your breath..."
Review: The language in The Things They Carried flows and moves. It is the most beautifully written book that I have ever read. I honestly hope that, if you have not already, you read this awesome book immediately.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A most moving book!
Review: Tim O'Brien is a wonderful author who brings war to life. I have never been in combat but O'Brien makes me feel as if I have. He's powerful, genuine, and makes you feel. This book is a very quick read. I saw Tim O'Brien at a book reading in Washington, DC recently, and he brought the book even further to life.
