Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Read for a term paper Review: A theme for this book could be about the life-long dehumanizing effects that war has on soldiers. Tim O'Brien insists that he is not the narrator of the book, but he does play along with a non-fiction and fiction approach. The book has several war stories that tell the reader how life as a soldier was in Vietnam. Another theme throughout the book, is about trying to figure out the "trueness" of war stories. The book also learns the reader about life after war, and that a war soldier cannot always pick up right where he left his life. Tim O'Brien also writes about the memories of war a soldier has, and how they can also be disturbing after the war. He writes about how he remembers seeing a guys face right before getting blown up, and seeing a guy sink into the mud and die. So if you are trying to write a term paper, I would recommend this book, or any other books that Tim O'Brien has written because he is an outstanding writer, and anyone would like his books, even if your not into war stories that much.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: MY commentary Review: The idea of how O'Brien writes it fasianates me because of the facts of realistic nature that he denmostrates the feelings and the emotinos that a solider has during a combat situation. Not only that but also how the fact that how many things they carried was something almost not immaginated by the individuals that read this book. The truth is I simply liked it because it is a reality that absorbs you inside telling you how the cruelties of life. Some live it in pain and some live it in home, societies over a nice cup of coffe and harmony. To tell you the truth I would personaly buy this book for something to spend the time with or to expand more my knowledge in a more richer vocabulary. Thinking about how beeing a sloider feels in those kind of occasions is something over limits which does lead certain individuals in a deppresion. Stresed is what we call boring because you got to wait and be ready for the unexpected, got to be alert of every single movement. Searching on the other hand is even more dangerous. Facts are that I have experienced and watched over from my life what beeing at war means. But I guess I can say that it just the way life goes on. My point is that this world is becoming a lot harder and getting to a even more tighter, complicated and incoregible now a days.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Things They Carried Review: Tim O'Brien is an amazing writer, this book keeps you reading forever you could barly put it down. I was not big on reading but once I picked up this book I was reading for hours! The book was very interesting and tells the true life of the soldiers. Not many people understand what war really is, what the soldiers go through and how they survive. It explains the feelings of the men and how they have lost loved friends, leaving the family, how it feels to kill another man, and how they don't have the cleanest life and the best nutrition. I hope my review will better intrest you to read this exilerating book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: What I Think Review: Out of all the war novels I have read over the years, The Things They Carried has been my favorite. Tim O'brien gives you endless descriptive detail that lets you understand the Vietnam War. From the soldiers guns, to their language, to their adaption to death, to the girls. Let me tell you, everything is covered in this book. If you find yourself uninterested in most books about war and you don't plan on reading this you should reconsider because this book keeps you interested. You won't be able to stop reading.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Things They Carried Review: I have read the book The Things They Carried by Tim o Brian, and I thought the book was a wonderfully written book and I would highly recomend it. The book was written with great descriptions, which helped make it easier to "get into" the book. Some of Tim's chapters were amazingly realistic, and really made you feel what his characters felt at times. The chapters were captivating with thier detail of the Veitnam war, and he seemed to describe every Veitnam vet in this book. He described the pain and suffering of the men/boys of that day and age, and brings out to the people what really happened in Veitnam. I hope that my review will persuade you to read The Things They Carried, and maybe even read some of the other books Tim o Brian has written.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Book I Carried Review: The Things They Carried is probably one of the top five books I have read. It depicts the Vietnam War from the aspect of a soldier. It is my first real interaction with the Vietnam War. Although i have relatives who were in the war the didn't like to disclose the much about the War. Tim O'Brien has quite a unique writing style that really makes you want to keep reading. At first people may be confused or angry at the writing but after the first chapter or so you begin to like it. O'Brien really makes you feel like you were with this platoon in Vietnam. I suggest that everyone who has any interest in war stories or even just stories read this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Things They Carried Review: The Things They Carried was a great book. This was one of the many books that I could get into because its on an actuall war. It explains what the soldiers actually had to go through during and out of combate. It goes into great detail of the little things they did. Once you start reading this, it's actually like your right there beside the main character, or that you pretty much are the main character. I recommand this book to anyone, even if you don't like to read you will like this book and get into this.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The Things They Carried- A review by Millie Shannon Review: I always thought that I would hate reading a book about war. Even though The Things They Carried, is based on a war, it has so many other things in it. Their is love, comedy, sarrow and lost innocence. It also makes you understand what it would be like to have to go through a war, what it did to people. It alos makes you see what soldiers had to go through when they returned home.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Speaking As A Vietnam Vet Review: I thought the book was well written and interesting and all that. But speaking as a Vietnam vet, 1st Cav., Medivac, the only thing I can say is that the book just wasn't like what I really saw. Maybe its just the difference between being on the ground and being in the air. But it just didn't ring true me, not at all.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great War Novel Review: The "The Things They Carried", while being my first war novel was a great book. It is filled with such realistic details of gore that it almost feels that you are living through the hell that is war. The fact that its chapters are divided into separate stories and that it is a very easy book to read makes the book more enjoyable. At first the book may come off as boring because it just mentions a lot of names and what everyone carried during this time, but don't let this fool you because as you read on it gets better. This book expresses alot of feelings the soldiers had during the Vietnam War and it written in such a great style that it leaves you thinking at points and puts your creative mind to work. It is a great book and I would reccommend it to anyone who like reading about war.
