Summary: This kept my attention
Review: A friend of mine told me about this book and how amazing it was. I do not read. I made my way through college skimming books, reading a few chapters and reading their summaries online. This is the only book I have ever read every word of. It's amazing.

The story leaves you wanting more. I found myself staying up late just to see what happened next. It also was very thought provoking for me. I am a devout Catholic and it really opened my mind to new possibilities. There is so much out there that I have never been exposed to and this book helped me to realize that. I am going to read as much as I can now about the topic.

You seriously need to buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Great read
Review: A friend recommended this book to me, it was fun to read with all the twists.

I really liked the bit about the two dead parents... what a common theme in books and movies...seems like we can't get away from this basic need. Noticed it from Harry Potter too.

I also liked a new book called The Fifth Internationale by Jack King... Thilling too! Lots of twists and page turner.

I would recommend both DaVinci and Fifth Internationale to anyone.

Thanks everyone for reading.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: A friend refered this book to me and I'm so glad that I decided to read it! It's very captivating and will keep you reading for hours at a time. The story has a great plot and a suspense fills these pages from beginning to end. Myself being a history lover, I have no doubt that the abundance of historical references kept me on my toes throughout this book. Even though I'm a Roman Catholic I found this book a very good read despite the fact that a chunck of it went against my religion. I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to accept other religious points of view.

Summary: Dan Brown goes on my must read authors list!
Review: A friend sent me the RandomHouse internet quest for the Da Vinci Code ...I was hooked! I spent half a day in the office solving the clues, getting other colleagues involved. The pre-marketing was great. On my last visit back to the states, I picked up the book in the airport. I nearly finished it durning my 8,5 hour flight (instead of sleeping). I couldn't put it down. When I arrived, I immediately bought a book about Da Vinci, to check out painting details that I missed when visiting the originals. The combination of art, history, twists on religion and even just revisiting the Louvre, were so well described .... it was just like being there. I have recommended the book to EVERYONE I talk to! Long live the the Priory of Sion.

Summary: A great vacation read!
Review: A friend told me to read this. I noted that Nelson DeMille gave it a great review and I enjoy his books when I am reading my "fun books". It was an excellent vacation read which I devoured in 2 very late nights. I loved the cryptic clues and entanglement with the Catholic church and the "true" life of Christ. The characters were engaging and plot twists were fun. This is not a candidate for any literature prize but it is the best fiction I have read this year, beating Crichton, Lehane and DeMille. I didn't read his other books so I can't say if this is predictable if you have read him before. But if you haven't, pack this one along for a great summer read.

Summary: Nice Vacation Reading
Review: A fun book to read and you must be careful not to get caught up in the fiction and believe what Brown is writing. This book is titled "Fiction" for a reason. I highly recommend reading this book just because there is some history you can take from it. I learned a little about art, paris, and the pagan religion. Some Christians may find the book offensive but you just have to realize you are reading this for the adventure. I just noticed that Amazon has lowered the price too, this is a great deal for the price they are offering. Go ahead and pick up Brown's Angels and Demons while you are at it. This one in just as interesting if not more. Angels and Demons will keep a Catholic turning pages!!! Enjoy!

Summary: Posthumous character development
Review: A fun book with lots of twists and turns. I felt like I knew the "dead guy" better than all of those still alive.

Summary: A Few Additional Sources
Review: A fun grab bag! There is much to enjoy in this collection of historical parlor games that Mr. Brown playfully cobbles together using the thriller format. As near as I can tell, however, the lion's share of the grail storyline is lifted from HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL (a source Mr. Brown acknowledges in the text). HBHG is itself best read as speculative historical fiction. Readers interested in more of the straight historical record might want to check out Malcolm Barber's THE NEW KNIGHTHOOD (an objective and detailed history of the Templars), Susan Haskin's MARY MAGDALENE: MYTH AND METAPHOR, and, of course, the first (and possibly still the best) grail story, by French writer Chretien de Troyes. His PERCEVAL, OR THE STORY OF THE GRAIL (1186) is the one that started all the centuries of "rewrites" and speculation. It was a blockbuster in its day, and still reads beautifully -- full of wit, romance, adventure and authentic poetic mystery.

Summary: Venus Pentacle in Double Time
Review: A fun read, and a tremendous stylistic improvement over his earlier, mind-numbing "Digital Fortress", which was too reminiscent of the (very) early Michener. But, inexcusable factual errors show up a bit too early; on page 36, read:

"As a young astronomy student, Langdon had been stunned to learn the planet Venus traced a perfect pentacle across the ecliptic sky every four years."

Not so! The Venus synodic cycle of five (5) equidistant occultations occuring each 584 days, or 1.6 years, takes eight (8) years to complete -- 8/5 = 1.6, approximating the mathematical ratio 1.618, labelled Phi, also known as the "Golden Mean"...

But it is a fun read.

Summary: Fun Read
Review: A fun, fast read. Brown's book is exciting and great. Great for some free-time reading.
