Summary: An intriguing tale, but...
Review: An intriguing story but the ending may lead to more than a few raised eyebrows. The author has a talent for writing and storytelling, but the book could have been a better read by eliminating the repititious and rather juvenile fascination with the female anatomy. It detracts from an otherwise well-written story and provides absolutely nothing for the either the plot or the puzzles. Because of that and because the fiction borders too close on the fantasy, I only gave it 2 stars. I'm glad I only borrowed the book instead of buying it and I probably won't bother to read his other publications.

Summary: Sure, it's a page turner....
Review: and I read the whole book from start to finish. However, as I reading it, I was thinking things like "it's a good thing I've read <i>Holy Blood Holy Grail</i> and all those other nonfiction books about Jesus's so-called bloodline, or I wouldn't know what this book was talking about" to "what stilted dialogue!" to "these people narrowly escaped death how many times in how many locations within the span of a few hourse, and didn't keel over??" to "yep, I guessed that one" to "oh yeah, I knew they'd end up there." My biggest gripe though was "how many TIMES is this dude gonna WHITEWASH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?!" When there is so much interesting non-fiction out there on this subject, I think I'll stick to that in the future.

Summary: Don't Believe the Hype!
Review: And I thought it was just me. The book is poorly written and contains woefully inadequate plot and character developments. From what I understand it is also full of historical inacurracies.It's almost as if it's written for people with short attention spans. It's only a matter of time before Hollywood makes it into a movie. I wonder which big name star will play Langdon?

After a sequence of events he learns who the true killer is and the reason he killed the famous curator of the art museum. Author bio:Dan Brown is the author of many bestselling novels. His novels have been translated and published in 40 different languages. Dan is the son of a math professor and a professional sacred musician. Dan's wife, Blythe, is an art historian and painter who helps with his research and goes on reasearch trips with him. Evaluation: This was a good book. The keyword being good. It was an entertaining book and kept me wanting to read more, most of the time. At parts, the book was extremely boring and I wanted nothing more that to put the book down. But then it would get interesting agin. One thing that really irritated me about the book was the way it seemed to preach to me and it had a lot of information that really wasnt needed. I found myself skipping over many pages and picking up again and still I knew and understood what was happening in the book. The last few chapters make of the book were incredibly awesome. they made the book compltely worth sticking with and worth reading. If you're into mysterious thrillers that keep you guessing, or if you are in the mood to read a historical fiction book with good factual information than this is a book for you.

Review: Another reviewer accurately terms the writing "paint by numbers" and I must agree. My family and I listened to the audio tape together and had predicted out the plot by the end of the first side of tape I. The concept is old, and has been better done by others. Very disappointing.

Review: Any book I really like has to have a great start that gets me in to the book, an interesting story, and then I'm hooked. I basically get annoyed to have all that, and then a dud ending. This book is so interesting all the way through and then - DUD! It doesn't just have a weak ending, it has an ending that seems to be for an entirely different book. I was left wondering why I spent the time. Skip it.

Review: Any person who reads this book will have their eyes opened wider than ever before. You do not have to be a lapsed catholic to enjoy the mysteries surrounding the Roman Catholic Church. Dan Brown is a master at using words to create a scene like no other author.

Summary: Fiction, people, fiction!
Review: Any time a book inspires such mixed reviews and causes a stir as mighty as The Da Vinci Code, it's worth a read. There is no easier way to say it: This is fiction. Don't take it seriously. Don't expect miracles or divine enlightenment. Get involved in the riddles and the symbols and be interested in the way the author ties together so many themes, but for goodness sake, remember it's a work of fiction. Personally, I had trouble getting into the book at first, but once the characters came together, I was much more interested. I agree with the reviewer that the characters were very one dimensional, but this is a story focused upon a single goal (sort of), bringing together complete strangers, and taking place inside 24 hours. I think the interesting thing about this book is that everyone gets something different from it, and it could be worth buying it used for the fun of finding out what you'll get. Just remember: IT'S FICTION!
