Rating: Summary: Oh Heaven is a Place on Earth Review: The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom is a refreshing novel about life. Albom does an excellent job of making the reader question his or her views on the afterlife as well as the meaning of life itself Also, Albom discusses how the afterlife explains one's life and his or her purpose in it. In addition, the five people Albom chooses for Eddie to meet in heaven provide further insight as to why relationships are important, regardless of whether or not you know that person directly. Overall, The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a quick read, yet its unique message is different and thought-provoking and Albom has the reader hanging onto every last word, holding back the persistent tears of joy and triumph.
Rating: Summary: A moving, heart warming story Review: I am not the type of a guy that would read this type of a book, but its amazing what you will read while stuck for hours on a plane. With each page I was more engrossed with this great story. Its a simple story, yet it cannot help but touch the heart. If you want a quick read (under 200 pages) that will make your day and make you look at the many demensions of your life, this is clearly the book of the year!
Rating: Summary: Who would you meet in heaven? Review: the five people you meet in heaven is the story of Eddie, a bitter war veteran, who after struggling for a meaning in his life spent working at an amusement park, dies unexpectedly at the age of 83 while trying to save the life of a child at the amusement park.
When Eddie dies, he is taken to a place unlike what most people visualize as Heaven. He is greeted by five people one after another who have had the greatest impact on his life, whether he realized it while he was living or not, these people changed the path of his life forever.
Outstandingly written, the five people you meet in heaven is a thoughtful and inspiring journey that takes you beyond the realms of your own imagination. Any fan of Mitch Albom's writing will not be disappointed, as no other tale could capture the beauty of life as this does and be as appealing to audiences of all ages.
Rating: Summary: There's a great companion study guide too! Review: I loved the Five People You Meet in Heaven, but I got so much more out of it after I read "Effective Habits of the Five People You Meet in Heaven." For instance, I never realized that Marguerite's name has a special meaning, nor did I consider the way so much of this book resonates with aspects of Scripture.
Effective Habits showed me why Mr. Albom's book is so powerful, and it did it in a marvelously clear way. When I re-read Five People with Effective Habits at my side, the whole thing became even more powerful. Wow!
Rating: Summary: The Five People You Meet in Heaven Review: This novel alters the way we perceive life after death and shows that life isn't over when we think it is. We are shown by Eddie that in Heaven we realize why what happened in our lives happened in that way. We are taught that things always happen for a reason even if we don't pay attention to it when it happens. Even if a certain situation doesn't affect us we sometimes have an influence on them. For instance in the novel Eddie was a little boy riding a bicycle when a car almost hit him, Eddie didn't think much of it and rode off. From the driver's point of view he was so frightened that he almost hit the child that he died of a sudden heart attack.
Rating: Summary: The five people you meet in heaven worth 4 Review: The five people you meet in heaven was a very moving and touching story to read. At first I was just reading the book because it was the shortest one to choose form our selection for our English Class. But as I started to read the story I started to get into it. The only part of the book that I didnt like was at the end of every chapter there was a part about Eddie's birthday. This was interesting but I felt that it didnt belong in the story. I think Mitch Albom took the right direction with this story. The colorful setting and lively characters show how this man's live was. Through the good times and the bad he stayed true to character. I would reccomend this book to a lot of people. If you like a short very interesting story with a great storyline, then this is the book for you.
