Summary: Preachy ?
Review: First of all, life is preachy. From lessons in school, to lessons in life, to lifes often painful lessons, it is all preachy.

Didn't like the book? Who cares if you did?

I did. I took a lesson away from it and that made me a better person. If you go through life and do learn something on a daily basis then you are either dead or brain dead.

Mr. Albom writes a simple book filled with insight that most would understand and appreciate except those that are too cynical to understand those insights.

This book should replace most of the self help books on your shelves.

Really, read it and become more human. It couldn't hurt.

Summary: Great Read
Review: This was a great read about an ordinary man named Harry with an ordinary life. He dies and is given the opportunity in the afterlife to review key relationships during his life and discover the connectiveness between people's lives. Harry finds that his ordinary life is not so ordinary and that we all leave a profound imprint as our legacy.

Albom has written a fascinating story that really hits a nerve. His "five people" approach is quite imaginative (no matter what your religious beliefs are).

I recommend this book highly. It's one of those books that stays with you when you're done.

Summary: Not good
Review: I thought this book was very preachy. I don't think it had any fresh ideas. I am glad I took it out of the library rather than
buy it. This way I only wasted my time rather than my money.

Summary: If meeting 5 people made a great book, imagine meeting 10
Review: Despite some claims about the book being "preachy", the fact remains that it is a well written book with the right elements of a great tale. I could not get my eyes off the book and kept on reading as each chapter prompted the will to find out what is next. Albom should have made Eddie meet 10 people instead of 5 so the book would last longer!

Summary: A true and compelling study of the meaning of life
Review: Without going into the set-up of the story (which you can find in other reviews), I'll simply say this amazing little book is on my Christmas shopping list for those that are the dearest to my heart. This is a book I want to share with everyone! Not to scare anyone away from it -- by the end of this story, I was a sobbing mess! The first four of Eddie's people give little pieces of the puzzle, profound little tidbits to help him understand more about the events in his life. But his "fifth person" reveals Eddie's true purpose in life, a life that Eddie felt was a "nothing existence" on Earth. He learns from his fifth person that his life was an incredibly important piece of the tapestry of life's experience here -- one that meant more to people than he could ever have dreamed. A truly inspiring piece of American literature that EVERYONE should read!!

Summary: It makes you think...
Review: Like the Japanese film "After Life," "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" immediately invokes questions: Who have I affected in the course of my life? Who has been pivotal in mine? Who would I meet if, indeed, there is such a thing as "heaven?" And how would heaven look to me? I must admit the book was a little overwrought, maybe a tad manipulative. But darn it, the tears flowed and flowed, nonetheless! And I'm not so sure that's anything to be embarrassed about. Eddie wasn't really such a sympathetic character, but he is certainly "everyman." We've all known him. And everyman and woman has a story to tell, even if (s)he can't quite find the words. It's a spare, quiet little book that will undoubtedly gain Albom more fans and reinforce those he gained with "Tuesdays."

Summary: Enlightening
Review: I feel this book is a must read for people of all ages. I am 22, and after reading this book I found myself becoming more aware of the people around me, family, friends and strangers alike. This book has a great message that you can greatly affect the people you meet throughout your life without even knowing it. I feel this book is also a comfort for those who lost someone and are trying to go through the grieving process. This book shows that even when you die you are not alone, and no matter what life you led here on earth, you are forced to face the life you lived the good and the bad in order to rest in peace with the rest of your loved ones that followed before you. I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. I hope others receive the positive and comforting message that I received after reading this book.

Summary: A small slice of heaven
Review: I enjoyed this book. It made me pause and reflect on my daily interactions with family, friends and co-workers. We don't realize the impact a small gesture or comment can make in another person's life. Eddie, the main character, didn't feel he accomplished much during his life, but realized his purpose after meeting each friend in heaven. I would recommend this book...a short heartwarming read.

Summary: A little hokey, but pretty good!
Review: I was a little dubious about Albom doing a novel after Morrie. Tuesdays w/M was a real favorite of mine and while this doesn't live up to the expectations one might have it still is a touching story. It'll make a good gift for any sentimental members of your family this Christmas.

Summary: Comfortable and fun, Eddie is,,,read SB 1
Review: This is very enjoyable reading and is a wonderful book from any perspective. A very typical life, "Eddie," had lived, but with more wonder than (on his part) most, finds out just about everything in the afterlife. I was very amused and didnt feel like I had to finish the book quickly. I don't think I found any new answers here to the why's of existence, but had definitely pondered the given reason much more than I ever had before. Has ways of truly making a person stop and contemplate. I strongly suggest reading about an Eddie in the book SB 1 or God by Maddox, some new and exciting afterlife thoughts.
