Rating: Summary: Saw This Advertised On Live With... Review: Saw this one advertised on the "Live With Regis And Kelly Show," had to try it. Turns out it is a very entertaining book. Nice job picking this one, Kelly Rippa!
Rating: Summary: Unrealistically Entertaining Review: The book was a very quick, easy read and was quite entertaining, however, completely out-of-this-world unrealistic!! I know most types of these books are, however, this more so than most! I did have fun reading it, though in the end I was left dumbfounded by the unrealism. I did really enjoy the parts with Donald though; they made the book worthwhile!!
Rating: Summary: Unrealistically entertaining Review: The book was well written and very entertaining, but it was definitely extremely unrealistic. I know these types of books usually are, but this one more so than usual. The end made me go "huh?" and "yeah, right!" I did enjoy the duck very much though!!!
Rating: Summary: Very Cute Review: Every once in a while its nice to escape from the sex & violence a read something lite and comical. This book was very cute and funny. It was a classic romantic comedy with the classic happy ending. The characters and storyline were humerous yet believable.
Rating: Summary: Good, not great Review: For Better, For Worse is a romantic comedy about Josie, a Londoner who flies to New York City to attend her American cousin's wedding. Having separated from her cheating husband, she senses that her cousin isn't certain that she is marrying the right man. It is Josie's job to stop her cousin from making the worst mistake of her life. But is she judging her cousin's situation based on her own failed marriage? And is she ready for romance -- especially when an adorable rock journalist tries to sweep her off her feet? There are some witty moments in this novel, but not enough to make it interesting. And the novel is longer than necessary. Carole Matthews's writing style reminds of Clare Naylor's, but it lacks Naylor's signature comic timing and wit. This is a good book to read on the beach, however, it is far from memorable. If you decide to give this book a whirl, enjoy it for what it's worth, but do not expect a blockbuster read in this one.
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised Review: I picked up this book from the New Releases stand at B&N and, as I usually do, I read the first few pages to see if there was a spark. I was immediately hooked! Carole Matthews writes with a wit and charm that is rare in love stories. Just read the first few pages and you'll see what I mean...
Rating: Summary: Funny & easy to read! Review: Great book! I got through it in 2 days..I couldn't put it down! It was funny and slap-sticky in parts, but I loved it!! Great read!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: I thought it was a wonderful modern day novel full of exciting things and instances. I loved how josie and matt always almost crossed paths, and it held me yelling go get the cab and stop thats him. The only bad thing is the ending i didn't like it much not detailed enough.
Rating: Summary: Cute and quick read Review: This was a great and quick summer read and one of Kelly Ripa's better choices of books. I had been eyeing this book for the last few months, but put aside the fact of getting it due to the fact I hadn't heard much about it. Well I am glad I picked this book up because it was a cute story and I really liked how the story moved. Josie Flynn is getting read to go to New York for her cousin Martha's wedding and at the moment she is trying to finalize the divorce with Damien and getting on with her life. From the start of this book I was laughing I loved her cat The Cat Formally Know as Prince. I also loved how she dealt with her mom and getting her off the phone. When Josie is going to New York she is seated next to Matt Jarvis also a fellow divorced man. At first she thinks he is annoying, but as the flight continues she finds that she really likes Matt and wants to get to know him. When the flight lands they agree to meet and see how things go. Well when things in there lives get to busy they don't manage to meet up and this is where I felt the book start the great adventure. Matt and Josie are both looking for each other in the big city of New York. Not know anything about each other, where they are staying, what they are doing they figure it is a lost cause and both of them go on doing the things they are in New York to do. Josie is here to be at Martha's wedding and Matt is here to do an interview with a stubbern band. When things in each of there lives start to go downhill they realize that nothing they can do will make things better and they both just go with what they feel is right. This book had me laughing from the cat, to the band, the weddings, the people and of course Damien and the duck.. I haven't laughed so hard as I did at the end. Overall this was a very cute and quick read and I hope to read more by Carole Matthews.
Rating: Summary: Good, But Searching for Gems! Review: I read For Better, For Worse because Kelly Ripa recommended it. Okay, so maybe that's not the best reason to pick up a book, but I thought it might be a fun, late summer read before the kids go back to school. And it was. I enjoyed this book and it made me laugh, made me remember strange and funny things in my past relationships. And then I took a previous reviewer's advice and checked out Shade of the Maple by Kirk Martin. I read the Prologue online, sensed there was something deep inside and was hooked. It connected with me and OMG was the ending incredible. Amazing how a 'good' book like For Better, For Worse gets so much publicity but you end missing gems like Shade of the Maple or Tending Roses by Lisa Wingate. Hope Kelly's next pick has a little more punch.
