Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE Review: Sorry this book is horrible. I didn't make it past 30ish pages. I like British chick lit as much as the next gal but this was really awful. Not an interesting writing style and not very interesting characters.
Rating: Summary: Need a good laugh? Review: It's the literary equivalent of a good romantic comedy. You can't help having a loud reaction at times and I got a lot of laughs out of this one. The writing style's not the best and you can pretty much guess who is going to end up together, but being able to laugh out loud at the antics of the lunatic soon-to-be-ex-husband makes up for that.
Rating: Summary: For Better, For Worse Review: This was the best book I ever read. IT ROCKS!!!!!! I think the way the author started the book out was FABULOUS!!!!! I recomend this book to anyone, it's worth the money. :) :):):):)
Rating: Summary: awful awful awful Review: This book is so despicably awful. What the heck was Ms. Kelly Ripa thinking? Yikes! It does not even deserve 1 star!
Rating: Summary: A Reader Review: This book is light-hearted and entertaining. I found myself laughing out loud and waking my sleeping husband. It is nice to read something different. The story had a few unexpected twists which made it even more pleasant. This is not soul-searching, marriage saving material. It is just entertaining! I loved it.
Rating: Summary: For Better, for Worse Review: I thought it was a very good book!
Rating: Summary: Tiring, After a While Review: I started off really enjoying For Better, For Worse. It was a light, humorous romantic comedy told from an omniscient perspective instead of the typical first-person narrative. I found that refreshingly different. Josie Flynn leaves her native London and her pining, cheating exhusband for a brief trip to New York to be the maid of honor in her cousin's wedding. While on the plane, she meets Matt, a charming English man, and they hit it off immediately. Sometime after Jo arrives in NYC, the novel starting losing most of its appeal. All the characters began behaving rather idiotically and the whole thing became annoying. I realize you must suspend your disbelief with a romantic comedy, but most of the occurences were a little too much, for various reasons, for this to be an enjoyable novel.
Rating: Summary: Cute, vacation reading. Fairly engaging but uneven. Review: This book started out promisingly. The writer is capable in this milieu and there were actually a few times I laughed out loud. There were also lots of times I was bored. The book puts itself forward as having lots of twists and turns and weird coincidences, but that component of the storytelling was overstated on the flap, and contrived to high heaven. It was a cute story, though, with some nice moments and pleasant characters. It's not anything special but you won't hate yourself either.
Rating: Summary: entertaining but the ending sucked Review: I enjoyed reading this book for the most part. It was entertaining. However, the ending was just silly. As you're reading you're hoping for a similar ending but it was pulled off in a very cheesy manner. After what Matt did, I hoped for a completely different ending.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I read this entire book in one day as I sat by the pool on vacation. So it is not rocket science but thoroughly enjoyable. I laughed my way through it and loved the bit with the duck. I have read dozens of these "Bridget Jones" type books and this is one of the best. I could see this book playing out as a movie as I read it (look for it in a theatre near you soon). Pick up this book if you want a fun girly read.
