Summary: In search of a new twist to an old theme
Review: A Knight's Vow consists of four stories with the same theme - knight's vowing to "honor and protect helpless women" ends up marrying the "respsonsibility" they had taken care of.

Only the first and the last stories are worth a read. I have been a fan of all Lynn Kurland's time travel series and this story continues to interest me. A must read to add your collection of her time series.

The last one, "the seige" is also a must read for a new author. It is entertaining and caught my attention throughout the story. I wished it were longer. The idea of "knowing a person's soul first before the body" is an interesting part. And thus I am taking my time to collect all three of Gylnnis Campbell's de ware trilogy.

However the two stories in the middle -- "the minstrel" & "bachelor knight" were a bore. The minstrel was soo predictable that I could not finish the whole book. I felt like I would make up a better plot than Ms Potter. The concept of the "bachelor knight" was a good one. However, Ms. Simmons seems to fail at the task of developing a full entertaining and cohesive storyline along the concept. It is like watching the Movie "Scorpion King" after the two Mummy series that you have to laugh. Although all the ingredients are there, there is just something missing.

a good book for bedtime or hospital run read.

Summary: Slow starter, but a fabulous read!
Review: I bought A Knight's Vow because I am fascinated with Historican Romances. However, I was VERY disappointed with the first story. I could not believe the time travel, nor the romance between the two characters. I found very little depth to the characters and very little effort put into the plot line. I was tempted to set the book down at that moment.

However, prompted by my inability to leave a book unfinished, I continued. To my surprise, I found the following three stories to completely make up for the slow started. I especially became fascinated with the second story, The Minstrel. Patricia Potter is still one of my greatest recommendations for Historical Romance novelists. I recommend this novel to anyone who wishes to enjoy short, interesting, intriguing and ROMANTIC trips to Medieval times. But, I do recommend skipping the first one, it's only a disappointment.

Summary: It was a good read
Review: I just finished reading this book and I thought it was good. I LOVE Lynn Kurland, so that's why I even got the book. The Bachelor Knight was sort of boring, it took me a while to read through that. My favorite one of course was The Traveller. All in all I would recommend this book to a friend.

Summary: 1 great story, 3 mediocre ones...
Review: I'd give the first 3 tales in this collection 2 stars each - they just didn't hold my interest despite being well-written - and the last one, Glynnis Campbell's "The Siege," 5 stars. I got this book from the library first and then bought it so I could re-read Ms. Campbell's piece whenever I want. The plot is very original, the dialogue both witty and tender and the romance quite believable. Beg or borrow this book from someone if you can, to see if you think the others are worth the $.

Summary: Three decent, one so-so
Review: It's been a week since I've read this, and the best in the book was the first story. Light-hearted and fun, it's about a woman who is at a point in her life - no job, no money, no boyfriend, and starting a diet - and she gets a letter from her romance novelist friend. In the letter, her friend invites her to visit and includes a map, warning her that there are places that you can accidently step back into to time. Thinking the warnings a joke, the heroine ignores this advice and ends up going back in time. Usually, I don't like time-travel romance, because they are not always written well, but this one was written with a great sense of humor.

The rest of the book was also diverting, and after the sample chapter at the back for Ms. Campbell's new book, I am excited to put "My Warrior" on my going to read list.

Summary: OK...
Review: The book is fine actually. It's made up of four stories.

The first one by Lynn Kurland, which is "The Traveller" wasn't really as great as her other novellas and novels. Everything seemed to be happening fast, but I chalk it up to the limited pages. It's still a good read.

"The Minstrel" was great. It was touching, and humorous. I mean, two people pretending they're someone they're not, when what they were would have solved everything. But of course, all's well that ends well.

"The Bachelor Knight" was okay. I got a bit tired though of the heroine pushing the knight away, hurting him, and all that, because she didn't want to get her heart broken, when in fact, she was already in love with him. And I sure pitied the poor guy who thought he couldn't live up to her medieval heroes, and felt less than deserving of her.

The last one, "The Siege" was really good. It's like the hero and the heroine were put there on purpose through divine intervention so that they could straighten out the catches in their betrothal. And when they did, they were suddenly saved, and they see the world through new eyes.

All in all, the book is, as I said, OK. I think it was worth buying, but not really a favorite.
