Rating: Summary: Sexy and Hot Review: Anne Aimes is a spinster. She has never known the touch of a man. Michel des Anges is male prostitute, paid to give women pleasure. Five years ago, he was disfigured in a fire. Now he has to pay women to have sex with him. Then Anne appears. She fears dying without having known pleasure. She pays Michel 10,000 pounds to show her such pleasure for 30 days. Michel is amazed by Anne's passion. He thinks of her as his spinster. She blossoms under his touch. But Michel is embroiled in a web of tragedy. A figure from his past vows to take from him all that he cares about. And he is beginning to care for Anne.Anne and Michel are marvelous characters. Anne is 36, past the age of blossoming youth. She is shy, but courageous. With Michel she grows bold and passionate. Michel is a tragic character. Handsome, yet vulnerable. Charming, yet dangerous. He is amazed that Anne would want him, scarred as he is. He is soothed by the passion she gives him. She becomes his lifeline. Two lonely people needing to feel alive, wanted, and needed. An intriguing story with lusty love scenes. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Would you buy this book if there are no sex scenes? Review: I only have one question to ask. If there is no hot sex in this book would you still buy it? Will you still rate it 5 stars? I for one think that all the star ratings is for the sex scenes. Please be honest.
Rating: Summary: Phew!!!!! Red hot, sexualy explicit, absolutely wonderful. Review: Robin Schone has writen by far the best book I have ever read. It is not for the faint-hearted. I have never read a book with so much graphic detail as this has. It is a story of two deeply scared people, not just physically, but mentally. Anne and Michael, through their passion heal each other and learn to love each other. There are some extreamly horrifying parts to the story near the end of the book, which does not detract from the story. In fact it makes everything clear to the reader as to why Michael is like he is. He has a lot of dark secrets from his childhood. They become clearer as the book progreses. I can't wait for Gabrielle's story to come out so I can keep reading about Michael, his friend and Anne. Well done Robin on a brilliant book.
Rating: Summary: World's Greatest Lover? Review: I was captivated by the exotic sexual encounters in this novel. Some were truly great. However, this book does have its dark side, and a truly surprise ending. The subject of male prostitutes is one little explored in the literature. The hero is scarred, but still handsome in the eyes of the heroine. This book is quite unique, but not for the squimish.
Rating: Summary: Pure Pleasure Review: There is passion burning for release within all of us. Robin Schone's "The Lover" illustrates this wonderfully. No perfect super-beautiful characters in this tale. Still, passions run long, deep, and hot! The author has done an impressive job balancing tragedy and romance. The story is interesting, but the erotic sceens alone are worth the read. This author in bringing a new edge to romance.
Rating: Summary: I want a lover like "The Lover" Review: When I first read the description for this book in a newsletter, I knew I had to read it, but of course, as things go, I did not purchase it for a couple of months. When I finally got around to reading "The Lover" I was AMAZED at how wonderful it really was. Since then, I have passed this book around to at least ten friends who have had the same reaction. Although the characters are flawed, literally, one easily forgets that they are so. The story of Anne and Michael is one that I will read and re-read for the rest of my life. Simply put, if erotic romance is your thing, this book is a must have and a must read...over and over again. And to Robin, I hope Gabriel's story is even better.
Rating: Summary: I love it!!!!!! Review: It's been almost 10 months since I read THE LOVER and I still can't get it out of my mind. Michael and Anne are perfect examples of what cruel people in a critically cruel society can do to a person. Michael has more than scars he carries around. There are wounds you'd have to put color to emotions to see; deep, emotional wounds that bind ones soul and stifles ones dreams. Anne has her own baggage she's carried around since childhood. Yet together they still manage to find beauty in a world which has shown them only ugliness. I actually cried through parts of this story, yet found a strong hope for them both in the end. And Gabriel. What can you say about a man so tortured, both in body and soul, that he's completely cut off all emotions--except for his one friend, Michael. There is much darkness in this story. The evil is truly evil. Yet Ms. Schone pulls it all together in the end, leaving the reader basking in the wonder of love found through almost impossible odds. This isn't a story for the faint of heart, but I highly recomment it to the reader who yearns for a story with all the elements a great romance should have. And yes, it's very erotic. No doubt about that. ummmmm. Geez, I feel a reread coming on............. <g>
Rating: Summary: dangerous Review: i have heard many bad remarks about this book and i think they are wrong this book was so different than any other book i have read. i have been reading romance novels for a very long time and yes it was very dark but it was really great. the characters in this book touch you, you feel for them. micheal the leading character in this book is terribly scarred on the outside but even more on the inside. i also like that anne aimes the leading woman of the book is flawed a bit(not ever one is perfect)and that she does not care what he looks like, the same with micheal, anne is not perfect or absolutly gorgous but he wants her also. even the character of micheal's friend gabriel affected me. i can't wait to see a book about him. this is a great book and if you listen to the negative views and don't read it i think you will be missing out!
Rating: Summary: LAST CHANCE AT LOVE Review: THE LOVER first gets one's attention with its vivid red cover, which promises sensual delights and it doesn't fail in that light. The book is the story of a proper "past-her-prime" English spinster, Anne Aimes, who seeks to achieve one month of sexual fulfillment before accepting the finality of her spinsterhood. This fulfillment will be accomplished by the hiring of a legendary "gentleman-of-the-evening", Michel des Agnes or Michael of the Angels. Her request and his acceptance lead them on a journey of the anticipated eroticism, where the author is excellent in her intense descriptions. However, this story is complicated by Michel's very secret and very dark past, which centers around a phantom figure called the man. That past also includes murder and sexual deviation. This is a good read, but not for the faint at heart.
Rating: Summary: Romance Doesn't Have To Be Prissy or Precious Review: I've read two of Robin Schone's novels--both bigtime bestsellers--and two novellas, in best selling collections of erotic romance. They've undone all my stereotypes about "Romance" as a genre. No one writes romance the way Schone does--[brave], complexly plotted, and over-the-top erotic. No one. Among the half-dozen established authors of erotic romance, she's an absolute original. In a world where books weren't sold like sausage, her books might not have to feature the word "Romance" on their covers at all. They appeal to at least three different kinds of readers: the traditional Romance reader .... ;addicts of thrillers .... ; and fans of erotica (the best of Schone is some of the best sex-writing anywhere; it's explicit and incandescent). Don't look for stereotypes in The Lover. Its people are one of a kind. Michel des Anges had been Europe's foremost male prostitute. Now, as the result of a horribe disfigurement, he is reduced to himself paying women .... . Anne Aimes is a virgin, a woman who has nursed both parents through their last years, and now, alone, rebels at the thought of marrying and having her husband, under Victorian law, control her life, wealth and property. The story has villains, political intrigue, and at least the shadow of terror, but all of it serves to intensify the dance between the two central characters. ....
