Summary: Good Erotic Romance
Review: This book is not for someone looking for a nice romance. It is erotic, with some dark themes. At times it was hard to follow the writing style, but those are few and far between. I enjoyed it, and would recommend it to someone looking for this type of book.

Summary: Disappointed first timer
Review: This was my very first EROTIC romance read and I was somewhat disappointed . I thought the writer was hard to follow and I felt she tried to keep you so titillated so often that I got tired of the characters remembering everything that happened to them when something else was happening to them(YIKES). The characters didn't seem to have much depth or passion while having sex. I did like Michael and could almost hear him speaking to Anne; especially in the beginning of the story and Anne seemed so sexually open for a spinster, but yet was very dreary.

I was glad that other people had reviewed this story and warned me of the worms and stuff. I glanced over the yucky stuff fairly fast. I was glad it had a fairly happy ending. I'm not even sure if I will read any other of Schone's books. I like to be enticed and drawn in which I was in the beginning, but by the middle of the book I was glad to get it over with and try a different writer. Hopefully a sexy and sensual story with a good plot and seductive charaters...WOW! isn't that what we all want.

Summary: Fascinating Erotic Read
Review: This book has hot sex scenes and shows the darker side of people and life. Very interesting, I also recommend Gabriel's Woman & The Lady's Tutor. Looking forward to Mrs. Schone's next book.

Summary: No Fluff Here
Review: If you don't like mystery and eroticism, then don't buy this book. The villian is evil, and what he does is evil. It's not for the faint-of-heart readers, and it's not for readers who want cardboard characters with their sex watered down--Robin Schone calls it for what it is, no love lances or ramrods here, and she doesn't cheapen her sex by throwing in vulgar profanities every other word.

Anne Aimes buys a man so she can experience passion. What she doesn't count on is that Michel des Anges, a man named for his ability to give women pleasure, is being systematically destroyed by the villian. We know that the villian hurt Michel as a child, and we know that the villian is responsible for a fire that disfigured Michel, and we know that he will try to kill Anne, but we have to wait to find out everything about Michel's past with the villain and why he's out to destroy Michel. Robin Schone doles out clues and information with each chapter instead of giving it to you all at once.

If you want fluff, look elsewhere. If you want to read about sex and danger and men and women who cry and laugh and grow stronger through love and sex, give The Lover and its sequel, Gabriel's Woman, a try. I think you'll be glad you did.

Summary: Unexpectedly Awful
Review: I love Thea Divine, Susan Johnson and other writers so I took a chance and bought 2 books by this author-big mistake. The couple meets has sex, sex, I never thought I would say it but the sex is awful and the story is awful. It doesn't sound exciting for them or the reader. Stick with Thea Devine and Susan Johnson and avoid this writer.

Summary: Not really very impressed...
Review: Robin Schone writes some pretty steamy romantic erotica, but this particular book was not nearly as good as Gabriel's Woman.

Summary: Do Yourself a favor and skip this one.
Review: Ms. Schone no doubt has her fans, but I am not one of them. She seems to be fascinated with the dark, seamy, ugly side of life. I found the book extremely depressing. Her sex scenes could not even warm me to the story and I love erotica written by women with strong characters. I read romances for the feel good escape, neither of which I got with this book. I also had ordered another of her books and I didn't even bother reading it. Read a Susan Johnson book or Nicole Jordan and save your money. They are steamy and sexy and know what true romance is all about.

Summary: Not for the weak
Review: This book was not a romance in my opinion. Yes, there were plenty of detailed sex scenes but NO ROMANCE. The cover describes it as "erotic romance" but that's misleading. It's definitely erotic but it is not romantic at all. It's more like a horror book, especially at the end. People in coffins with worms, food with worms, maggots. Ugh.

Summary: Should Not Be Categorized as a Romance Novel
Review: Having read "The Lady's Tutor," I was unpleasantly surprised to see the different direction this book took. Although a romance novel can gain a certain spice if the hero and heroine have to struggle against external obstacles in their path to living happily ever after, and although I don't object to a few murderous villains serving as those obstacles, when I pick up a romance I don't expect -- or want -- to encounter descriptions of a young boy being forced to eat maggot-infested food, or a young woman locked up in a worm-filled coffin. A second objection involves the character development -- I can, with some imagination, see how two virtual strangers can enter into a satisfying sexual relationship, although the book failed to lay out the emotions and thoughts that would allow this sort of intimacy -- but the author completely fails in making me believe that the young woman who was locked up in the coffin would shortly thereafter go back to bed with the man who used her as bait to trap his uncle (who did the locking-into-coffins and feeding-of-maggots and other unpleasant activities), knowing how the uncle would treat her. Whether it would ever be possible to forgive this sort of offense is unlikely -- whether it would be possible to forget it so immediately as to go to bed with the person who facilitated it is unbelievable.

Summary: A good Read
Review: I must admit I was not sure I would like this book based on the different reviews that I had read but, in the end I was glad that I made the buy!

The story between Michae/Michel and Anne was very good. I feel that although the story had a dark theme, it was nice to find that something could come from it. Both Michael and Anne had their own problems before either had met. The love (yes I do believe that they loved) was special in that both were scared in different ways but each was able to see in the other something that was special. I feel that that was what was important.

As far as the love scenes go I feel that they were very moving in the fact that both wanted to feel something, and in the fact that they both were able to give to each other. I don't feel that they were clinical or gross. But they are not for the faint of heart either.

Ms. Schone writes about something that is very hard to talk about and her stories are always very moving. Yes, it was at times hard to understand what or who "the man" was in the story, but eventually it was all explained including why Michael was the way he was.

This book is worth taking the time to read. Don't be put off by the fact that it is an Erotic romance. The book is more then sex scenes. Ms. Schone is a talented writer and I look forward to reading more from her.
