Rating: Summary: Not the Same Zane Review: I am not sure what to say about Heat Seekers. After having read it I can agree with some of the reader. This is not one of Zane's best work. While I did enjoy this story I too was disappointed. Having read her work I would not have know this was Zane the author I know. The characters did not flow well for me and I am not quite sure what was missing other than knowing this was not the fast pace moving story I am use to with Zane. Zane's style of reading can me a little to explicit for some but the stories are usually great. I guess all of her work can not be 5* reads. I have one other story to read and I will have read all of her work. Even though this was not her best it was not bad. Could it the the publishers not letting her write what she does best? An okay read but not one of her best. Hey having said all of this I will be waiting for her next book.
Rating: Summary: Too Hot to Handle and Too Cold to Hold Review: Fans of Zane and fans of literature alike will be able to appreciate her newest venture. The Heat Seekers, the saga of best friends Tempest and Janessa, has all of the humor and drama that has made Zane's previous works smash hits. However, this book also deals with some serious issues, such as unplanned pregnancy. Tempest has been looking for love in all the wrong places. Harboring her doubts about the male species, she stumbles upon Geren, a man from the fairy tales. But she's been keeping secrets, and the heat from this one could cause her to lose it all. Tempest's best friend Janessa wants the same thing any woman wants. To be loved, to be appreciated. However, when you run with dogs, you're bound to get fleas, and Janessa finds out the difference between a boy and a man. The Heat Seekers is an entertaining, thought provoking read with many plot twists and turns. The characters are likeable if not deserving of compassion and empathy. The Heat Seekers is complete with cameo appearances by characters from Shame On it All, including Raul, the exiguous entrepreneur, and passing mentions of the Whitfield sisters themselves. In this piece, Zane pays more attention to the serious issues confronting her characters, and less to their shenanigans. The book will have you doubled over in laughter one moment and pondering the decisions you may have made in your own life the next. The Heat Seekers is Zane's most robust work to date, while she proves to the literary world that she's got it like that. Reviewed by CandaceK
Rating: Summary: Where's da heat?!!!!!! Review: This book was corny as all get out. There was no steamy sex scenes like I thought it would be. It was a dry tale. The main characters Tempest and Geren has some deep secrets that was already obvious and Tempest's best friend Janessa had a baby by Geren's best friend Dvonte. Dvonte treated Janessa like, you know and by the end of the book she found it in her heart to forgive him. This book was a total waste to me. It's one of those "get it from da library" joints. Later....
Rating: Summary: A nice change of pace Review: When I first brought the book back in May I could not get into it I got to the part about the wedding and became bored, marked my place and put the book back on my bookshelf. Well I was in between books so I decided to give Heat Seekers another shot,I must say I was wrong I found myself up in the middle of the night trying to find out what happens next. Yes it is a little different from her regular stuff but this is a cleansing break a nice story without all the extra's there is life beyond the bedroom. Zane you can't please everybody all the time but I say to you keep doing what you are doing I know this book received some bad reviews but keep in mind you will attract all types of readers don't limit yourself. The book was a pleasant read Thanks for showing you have another side to you.
Rating: Summary: A REFRESHING BREAK! Review: This is definitely a book you want to read. If you've read Zane's other books, you'll know what I mean. Tempest and Geren seemed to be fed up with all of the hurt and pain of past relationships, etc. But they seem to find in each other all that they've been needing. Janessa (Tempest's best friend) hooks up with Dvonte (Geren's best friend) and they explore a strictly sexual relationship that leads them down a path they'd rather not take. Yes, the story seemed to be a little fairy tail-ish and yes, it was predictable, but it was well written and was a good read. It was funny too! Reading this book gave me a refreshing break from some of the usual explicit sexual content of Zane's previous books. I say that because in "The Heat Seekers" Zane really shows us that she is a true writer and that it's not always about "the sex". Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Save your money!! Review: This book was painfully awful. I have read several of Zane's books in the past, none are what I would call literary masterpieces, but they are entertaining nonetheless. This book was not even up to Zane's standards! It was slow from beginning to end, with idiotic plots and subplots. I won't spoil it, but the surprises at the end are not even surprises. The only real situations were that of Janessa and D'vonte. I could relate to their drama. But Temptest and Geran...get a life and give me a break. I would not recommend this book to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Finding Mr. Right Review: In Heat Seekers, Zane travels away from her usually erotic tales of lust. Although there is a hint of some of her typical writing, Zane focuses more on relationships & love in this novel. Geren and Tempest are two "good" people in search of real love. Both of them have giving up on love until they meet one another: it's almost love at first sight. However, both Tempest and Geren have skeletons in their closets that could potentially ruin their chance at real love. Geren and Tempest's best friends are two peas in a pod. Dvonte is a self-proclaimed player that's not interested in hanging up his player status. Janessa is a sister that is afraid to allow men to touch her heart. Both Dvonte and Janessa have "issues" that may make it darn near impossible for them to find love. This was my first reading of a Zane book. I had heard many people comment on the eroticism that runs through her books, so I was a little disappointed that she decided to abandon the erotic in this book. Secondly, everything is just a little to "perfect" in the story. I pretty much was able to guess the plot through the book: no surprises. Although I know that Zane was trying to portray a positive black male character, Geren is just a little too "perfect". The characters in general are a little "flat". Nevertheless, I did finish the book and it was still a good way to pass the time. Leanna Bailey R.E.A.L. Reviewers
Rating: Summary: Remarks Review: The book was interesting. However, I felt that the plot could have been a bit more sexual like the others. Overall, the story was catching.
Rating: Summary: Read in 1 Day! Review: This book was good. I have only read one other book by Zane, Skyscraper and thought that this was a good read. I love the way the author portrays both sides of the story. I also like the fact that it's about young, black love. Not having to wait until you are in your 40's to get it right in the love department.
Rating: Summary: OK Review: The main reason that I didn't like this book was because, I'm so used to Zane's exotic tales, and I was definetely expecting a erotic tale, that isn't the case here in this book. It's a good love story but nothing else. Even the love story was just O.K.
