Summary: hail the queen of romantic comedy
Review: This is a smart, funny story that works like a multilayered puzzle. The theme has to do with a lot more than faking just orgasms (though that topic is broached with Crusie's characteristic depth and humor); this book is about the way people cheat themselves in of life by taking the road of least resistance. It's a clever, carefully constructed story but it's also full of very real and interesting characters.

This is not mindless romance; this is romance at its best.

Summary: Funny and romantic story about people finding themselves
Review: This book is wonderful. It is about the love and burden of families. It is about Tilda and Davy (who are amazing multidimensional characters), having to recognize who they really are in order to be free. The secondary characters became very important to me. I cared deeply about the Goodnights and their friends. Ms. Crusie always has a sexy, strong, funny voice and this book doesn't disappoint.

Summary: No Faking--This is a great read!
Review: Clear your calendar before you pick up this book, as you won't want to stop for anything else once you start reading. FAKING IT is reminiscent of the best of the old madcap romantic comedies of the Cary Grant era, updated for the 21st century. Witty repartee, charming con men, confused identities, and misunderstandings abound, all wrapped up in a fast-paced,laugh-out-loud package.
One of the things I love best about Jennifer Crusie's books is that her characters are human. Sometimes the heroine is too distracted by life to have mind-blowing sex, even with a hunk of a hero, and only the villianness has a perfect figure. I particularly loved the three generations of women in this book. Quirky and yet down-to-earth, they are women I can imagine having as neighbors and friends. Just watching Gwen, Tilda, Nadine and Eve learn to balance their obligations to the family they love with their growing awareness of their own needs as individuals would have made this a worthwhile read.
Jennifer Crusie doesn't stop with memorable characters, however. She makes you believe in Happily Ever After, and she adds non-stop capers, a delightful sense of humor, and sparkling writing to create a tour de force of modern romantic comedy. Don't miss this book!

Summary: More fun with the Dempseys
Review: Faking It is the book equivalent of an umbrella drink-sweet, intoxicating, brightly colored and plenty of fun. Davey Dempsey, a secondary character in Welcome to Temptation, returns as the semi-reformed con man/hero. Our leading lady is Matilda Goodnight, a talented artist reduced to painting mural reproductions of famous paintings due to one of several deep dark family secrets. Also returning from WTT is Clea; still gorgeous, scheming and murderous. There are plenty(and I do mean plenty!) of other characters, almost all of whom have hidden agendas and they whip in and out of the Goodnight Gallery, moving the plot along at a pace almost as wicked as the dialogue. There is a mystery, and it is a pretty interesting one, but what makes this book sing are the people inhabiting it. Oh, and in case you wondered, the relationship between Tilda and Davey has plenty of sizzle-and you'll never listen to the golden oldies station again without thinking of them! A perfect romp of a summer read, Faking It is the way to go. At least in the literary sense. ;)

Summary: Another hilarious success
Review: As deep as Fast Women, as lighthearted as Welcome to Temptation, Faking It is another delight from Jennifer Crusie. When last seen at the close of Welcome to Temptation, Davy Dempsey had stolen Clea Whipple's fortune. At the opening of Faking It, Clea Lewis (as she now is) has stolen it back.

Although this book shares characters with Welcome To Temptation, it can easily be read alone; the focus is on what happens to the new cast. The quips are as funny as ever, the set pieces are hilarious, and you also get some insights on what it means to be authentic.

Everybody I've ever recommended Jennifer Crusie to has thanked me for the recommendation.

Summary: Not a fake pleasure!!!!!
Review: Jennifer Crusie's main characters are always slightly bent (at least) and tend to fall in love unwillingly but humorously.

In "Faking It" we meet Davy Dempsey -- the brother of Sophie and Amy Dempsey who were the female progagonists in "Welcome to Temptation." Davy is a conman and a rogue who bumps into Matilda Goodnight in a closet where they have both hidden to keep from being apprehended stealing from Davy's predatory ex-lover, Clea. Matilda wants to steal a painting fake that, if discovered will ruin the Goodnight family art gallery. Davy wants to steal (repossess)the three million dollars that Clea has stolen from him.

There follows a hilarious story of the relationship the builds between Davy and Matilda (naturally she fakes orgasm the first time that them make love), and the way that dropping of all pretenses sets them free for each other.

I laughed out loud throughout my reading of this book. Some parts were so funny that I had to share them aloud with my wife. (One involved Matilda's 10-year devotion to a certain blue, plug-in appliance).

I have never yet read a Crusie novel that was not filled with quirky, endearing characters, off-the-wall humor and sheer charm. "Faking It" is no exception. I think this is Crusie's best to date.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: She did it again. I started this book at 6 PM and finished it at 4 AM. All of the editorial reviews tell the story line. I laughed out loud all the way through this book. As Dil would say, it is "excellent".I will read this again and again. It is worth every penny of the hardback cost.

Summary: Let down...
Review: I recently turned into quite a Jennifer Crusie fan, so I must say this book was quite a let down. In her previous books we enjoyed characters who developed througout the novel, but here we were given two main characters who did all their interesting changing BEFORE the book started! While there were some secondary characters that were fun, (Eve and Gwen especially) they were very two dimensional. I had a hard time remembering everyones' names (especially the dog -- which for the first time was uninteresting and a waste of words to have in the book). Further, linking this book to Welcome to Temptation seemed a bad move in light of how little we see of the Temptation characters. Crusie's time would have been better spent focusing on Faking It rather than throwing in little uninteresting tidbits from Temptation. The secondary mystery in this book was nowhere near as interesting as those she has had in the past, and we never see our characters in any danger, which took some of the spice out. Lastly, I consider myself a huge movie fan, but the ongoing movie quoting the characters engaged in was way beyond me. Crusie failed to actually list which movies they were quoting half the time, and when she did, I rarely recognized them.

While nowhere near as good as Fast Women, it was still slightly entertaining, so I recomend buying it when it comes out in paperback.

Summary: Funny and romantic
Review: Faking it is another great light romantic comedy by Jennifer Crusie. I loved the characters, and the dialogue was witty and sparkling. The book reminded me of screwball comedy movies. Her characters are believable and fun. Great book -- buy it!

Summary: Just perfect!
Review: I love Ms. Crusie's work and this book did not disappoint me one bit! I have read all her books and am patiently awaiting her next! She has a great talent for creating characters that are not perfect, which I love because who really wants to read about some model perfect main character all the time? Her characters seem so much more "human" and easy to relate to. Faking It was an awsome read and most parts had me either smiling or actually laughing out loud! Just loved it!
