Summary: A simultaneously informative and torrid read
Review: This book was incredible-- hands down one of the best pieces of historical fiction I've ever read. Not only does Gregory nail the pliable nature of sisterly rivalry, she succeeds in bringing an unknown heroine to life. I could hardly put this book down. Little known detailed facts about the life and daily tasks of those in Henry VIII's court arise throughout this story making every page essential. And at the book's harrowing, bittersweet and shocking end, Gregory masterfully handles a situation you have to read to believe. I was moved and educated by Gregory's tale and urge everyone to delve into this worthwhile novel.

Summary: This book was fabulous!
Review: Like it says in the title- this book is fabulous! It was outstanding. I've never read a book that took place during this period in time, so I'm new at this. But I'll tell you it totally surprised me how interesting the author made it. I expected it to be dry- it was so far from it. It's over 600 pages, but I couldn't put it down. I loved everything about it. So if you're new to this genre as well, I would recommend this book to you.To those of you who read this type of a novel everyday, I know you might have a different opinion than me. This book is fiction, with some truth mixed in. Depending on what you think of that- I'd say you'd like this book or maybe not. The reasons I liked this book so much- It was easy to read. No vocabulary problems, no old-English spoken. The characters were unforgettable. There were many, so you have to keep close tabs on who each are, but once they became major players, they really pull you in. Plus, knowing these people did exsist made it all the more fun. The drama, betrayal, love, lust, passion, scandal, courage, strength, and suspense. Go read it!

Review: The other boeyln girl is one of the best books I have ever read. As you read you feel sad happy scared and angry for the main character, mary. Its fun to see an interpretation of the characters feeling during this time even if you know the eventual outcome of Anne Boeyln. This is a great read for anyone of my age (13) to people as old as dirt!

Summary: How do I sum up this book...
Review: It's hard to sum up such a awesome book in a few words. Plus, it's huge- over 600 pages. First, I went into this not knowing much about this subject and the people, so if you're in the same boat this review might be helpful to you. I loved it! The writing was so easy to get into and it was very easy to read. I was hooked after about 20 pages. And for me that's saying a lot. I really got into these people's lives and I often had to remind myself that this was not fact, but a lot of fiction. However, I find this story compelling and likely to be very close to the truth. I really don't have a complaint about the book. I enjoyed everything about it. Most of all learning about life in the royal kingdom. As I said, I have never read any books on this subject or studied much about it in school, so I was thoroughly enthralled. If you're looking to try something new or kingdoms of England are a favorite of yours I really recommend this book. Beware that it's not all proven fact, but I think you won't mind once you see how fun reading this book is!

Summary: Without a doubt the best book i've ever read
Review: I have always been interested in the going on's in king henry's court. never had i come across the person, Mary Boleyn. The first thing that caught my attention was that it was a novel based on a real unheard of person. After beginning to read it, I was surprised to discover how her life was controlled. after being married to someone that her parents arranged for her she also becomes the king's mistress. Her second marriage is for love, leading to the disownment from her family. And all along you are getting views of the rising ambition of her older sister, Anne Boleyn. IN no other book can you get the feeling, fears, and dreams of the two boleyn sisters, and that hard fall that awaited them. you won't be able to put this down!

Review: If you enjoy historical fiction, this first person account of Anne Boleyn's sister is fascinating. Phillipa Gregory's book is well written and never gets boring. She also provides an interesting view of historical events that I think is very clever. I highly recommend it!

Review: Excellent background research, compelling character developement and keen pychological insight make this one of the best historical novels on the market. Philippa Gregory has that gift, she can take historical characters that the average person knows very little about and make them fascinating and disturbingly real. This was an engaging and satisfying read and I heartily recommend it.

Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: This book is a wonderfully and thrillingly written account of the machinations of the Boleyn-family to get close to the throne at the times of Henry VIII. Mary Boleyn is ordered by her family to be at King Henry's command whatever his wishes and whims. She obeys her family, since she is barely 13 when first presented to the king. She succeeds in keeping him at her side for a while, until his eyes begin to wander again and he seeks fulfilment (in every way) elsewhere. All of a sudden she is commanded to stand back and let her sister Anne bathe in the king's glory. In my opionion Mary was quite helpless, whereas her sister Anne is portrayed as a scheming whore. The author has a fabulous way with words and if you are interested in English history written at a wonderful pace as well as a thrilling account(in other words: you will probably be utterly, competely, totally unable to put this book down, once you have started) this is a book you simply cannot miss!

Review: This is an absolutely fascinating look at a different angle of the Anne Boleyn story. This was the book that got me hooked and learning all I could about this period of time in the court of Henry VIII. Even if you are not particularly interested in the Tudor court, you won't be able to help loving this book. It weaves an amazing tale from the eye's of Anne Boleyn's elder sister Mary, mistress to the King long before Anne ever entered the picture. This young woman who might have been Queen had to deal with more than we could ever imagine - forced to the King's bed by her over-ambitious family, then forced right back out by her younger sister, who proved too ambitious for her own good. This book is hard to find in stores - save yourself the trouble and pick it up here. You won't be sorry!!
