Summary: after reading Paulo Coelho "Fifth Mountain"
Review: "My Silly Awaking" by Paul Solon

after reading Paulo Coelho "Fifth Mountain"

I was off on a retreat, this old English scholarly man was putting on at his place. We had been talking about the pain and noticing. We were in his study with the other guys from the "School of the Light". We were wearing dark blue blazers, a bunch of fine lads. They had history with him and comfort like an old respected professor. He was reading what he called a "silly poem" he wrote.

As I have gone thru my journey
The journey thru the light
I have conquered an Old King and
I have met a Fair Maiden
Or should I say
I have met a Fair King and
I have conquered an Old Maiden

Everyone chuckled...

Well just the same
We sat on the Wall or at the Round Table
We fools
Contemplating the lumps in his land
From the Cannon Fodder or
The Farmers Bolder
Who can say
It was quite neat

He caught me looking at him and me smiling at him as he read.

There it is...(as if still reading the poem)

Then.... there it is....the Light

He slowly moved from his paper towards me locked in his gaze.

It's OK...don't stop....don't fade away....shine...shine on

I am sitting in a chair next to an old sofa.
He moves along the sofa towards me in a warm casual gaze.
The innocent look on his face as if he just discovered the wheel for the first time.

Yes the smile...the smile of the Light
The stuff that is made of....the universe.

He sits on the armrest of the sofa next to me.
I am looking at him with this wide boyish smile I can't control.
The smile flows out of me from ear to ear.
As I notice it I notice every ones eyes upon me.
The universe is upon me...I am being.
I get embarrassed by the attention and interrupted by the noticing.
I start to turn my eye away, downward.
Just then he moves so close.

Whine #1 a very short high pitched squeaky sound thru my nose

He gentle takes my head and pulls me towards his chest.
I go dark into his soft wool sweater.
I feel warm inside.

Whine #2 a more of a catch yourself cry ..a slight scratchy moan inhaling breath

I slowly slouch into him, my arm limp, his arms around me.
I feel warm in deep darkness.
My eyes are moist and my nose is running.
I feel all spent out...like ringing out a wet towel.

Whine #3 a deep....deep cry so deep that I can't even make a sound.
All that comes out is a deep guttural sound that is more from my stomach than my lungs.
So long as if time had stopped.
So deep as if I am passing thru a Black Hole.
The longer, the smoother, the faster, the straighter I move into it's depths.
It's like a wonderful releasing ride where gravity doesn't exist.
The gravity of good and evil.

He pats me on the head and says.
"There...there...Good Boy"
And I am "Accepted"
"I am Blessed"

And I awoke,

Summary: A Mountain of choices
Review: A beautiful book even though the style of writing is not always easy.

The prophet Elijah is tried by the Lord. He has to leave Israel and ends up in the town of Sarefat, which is called Akbar by its inhabitants. there he is taken into the house of a widow, but he is only accepted by the inhabitants after he has resurrected her little son. But he remains the outsider, the one to blame in case of adversities. And in the meantime Elijah fights his own fight with the Lord. One day the twon is destroyed by the Assyrians and the widow, the woman Elijah loves, also dies. And then Alijah's true power is emerging: together with the old aged, the widows and the orphans he rebuilds Akbar.

This is a novel about choices that people (have to or can) make in their lives: everybody has the moral duty to make the best of his or her life, even when the choices may sometimes be painful.

Summary: FAST!
Review: A friend of mine told me to read this book...I promised him I would but in Turkey it's not easy to find every English book you want. Only a year and a half later was I able to buy the book...in Switzerland. I bought it so I could read it on the 6hr car journey to France. I ended up finishing it in 2 and a half hrs the very sam everning and I still remember all that I read. If you know about the Ying-Yang sign, you know what this book is all about. In every evil there is goodness, in every goodness there is evil...try to see the good in every evil...it will make life much easier!

Summary: A touching story on patience and endurance
Review: A story like a fairy tale - with its centre character being Elijah from the bible. This is that side of Elijah that most of the people in this world are not aware of. His path to become the prophet, his triumphs and tribulations and a test of his faithfulness towards God... in an era where idols and gods were worshipped alike.

He is tested by an angel of the lord at various times and is also tempted by the beauty he sees in the widow whom he encounters through his journey of life. Elijah is very often put into situation where he finds difficulty in choosing between the right and wrong and his faithfulness in God. Most of the times he choose the path of the lord shown to him by the angel and his belief in this ONE GOD leads to various miracles.

A great book written with great belief and trust in the power of the Lord

Summary: a phenomenal story
Review: After having read The Alchemyst I decided to catch hold of all the books by Paulo Coelho. Fifth Mountain was my second book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Paulo definitely proves to be one of the best authors on books of inspiration.

In the Fifth mountain he brings to light the life of Elijah the prophet in a fairy tale manner. Most of us are not aware of this aspect of Elijah. Elijah is put to various tests by the Angel of the Lord and how he overcomes these tests and tribulations in life, this is what the book is all about. Elijah is given various tasks in his life by the Angel and how he handles these amidst his own doubts, beliefs and attractions of life..... is very beautifully portrayed by the author. The story is set at a time when idols and Gods were worshipped alike.

It also shows the belief and faith in God can conquer all in this world. In his path to becoming a prophet Elijah teaches us various lessons and one of them is - it is always necessary to know when a stage of one's life has ended. It you stubbornly cling to it after the need has passed, you lose the joy and meaning of the rest.

A great book

Summary: Simple, inspiring read
Review: Another quote which I like:

"It's always necessary to know when a stage of one's life has ended. If you stubbornly cling to it after the need has passed, you lose the joy and meaning of the rest."

A thoughtful book with a few inpiring quotes. A simple story to send the powerful messages. But I wish for a bit more depth and character development.

Summary: Tragedy = A Chance To Re-Build Your Life!
Review: Bieng a refugee but not feeling like one, loving and loosing a foriegn woman but still bieng able to pick-up the pieces and go on, fighting between one's spiritualism and materialism, its all in this book. Having experienced similar events to those of Coelho's life (wrapped by dramatization of prophet Elias' life), this is a book to both of you whom had already picked-up the pieces of a broken life and those who are sitting, watching the pieces, feeling frozen. This is a smooth reading. I'd love to see a movie of it!

Summary: A mountain of knowledge
Review: Coelho give us a completely different point of view inspired in the Bible. Its a great story about a prophet that learns how to be a prophet. The book is the long way he walked to be first a man of faith and then the great God't spokeman. Very inspirational, shows the way to reach God. Thanks Mr. Paulo!
