Summary: You GOTTA read it!!
Review: This was one of the first Gene Edwards books I read and I must say that it really helped me to understand some deep Biblical truths as his story unfolded. Edwards writes in such a way that these complicated spiritual truths (like being created in God's image, God's love relationship with us, the Church being the Bride of Christ - especially this one) that my mind grappled with before seems now to understand so easily. This book is best read with the Chronicles of the Door series, also by Gene Edwards. Both tell the story from Creation to the Wedding but from different viewpoints and in conjunction help to expand your understanding. I also recommend this book to all my friends who are getting married as it shows what God intended marriage to be.

Summary: A Modern Masterpiece
Review: Truly great old books are not hard to find if you can get your hands on old books (which are by nature often out of print). But my own opinion, if it is of any worth, would be saying that I have rarely enjoyed a book that was written in the 1900s more than this one.
First reading was in 1985. Like all the best books, there are parts of this one that never have left me or been far from my consciousness since. You will want to read it again & again. Only takes a few hours with Gene's usual skillful use of reader confort technique. A delightful read. A worthwhile use of time.

Summary: A Divine Disappointment
Review: Wonderful intentions on Mister Edwards's part. Sadly, missed it for me and my stylistic preferences. For a book to give you a warm feeling about how much God loves you in a time when you are already pretty much convinced thereof, it probably rates more like four stars. To address God's love for you amidst less than wonderful circumstances and even get by the tendency to cynicism that results in that state, I would suggest THE SACRED ROMANCE by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge.
