Summary: fascinating
Review: Wiseguy the true story of Henry Hill a guy who's been assoiated mafia since he was 13. A remarkable book the best book ever written on organized crime. Recomand to anyone who likes reading or watching stuff on the mob, and to anyone who liked Goodfellas the movie based off the book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It doesn't get much better than this
Review: Having grown up in the neighborhood near Henry Hill's stomping grounds, I have a personal insight into his story. The people and the places (even addresses) are honest. In fact, scenes in the movie were filmed just blocks from my childhood home. This book is a must read for those who are sick and tired of cliche mafia stories.

Summary: IT SUCKED
Review: I HATED THIS BOOK, I DO NOT RECCOMEND ANYONE READING IT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO READ IT, PLEASE, TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF IT.

CHOS MESGHAL

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Closer to God than the Godfather
Review: What can't I say about a book that has too many dog-eared pages and the most ragged cover this side of an original copy of "The Canterbury Tales?" Nicholas Pileggi gets the reader further inside the mafia than any writer before him, made all the more chilling by the fact the story is true. Allowing two of the protagonists the opportunity to tell their own stories is nothing short of brilliant and makes the reader feel as if the tale is just for them. Growing up in the shadow of the mafia in Youngstown, Ohio (aka Eddie DeBartolo Jr. & Sr.'s "legitimate business" stomping grounds), I've been infatuated with the gangster lifestyle for as long as I can remember and "Wise Guy" repeatedly reminds me exactly why. I'm also glad I finally know where all those clothes came from at the sales my family and I occasionally went to at the Howard Johnson's banquet hall.

P.S. Loving GOODFELLAS only makes the book better.

Summary: Great in-depth view of the innerworking of organized crime
Review: As a fan of the true crime genre I was thrilled to finally get around to reading Wiseguy. Having already seen the movie adaptation of the book "Goodfellas" I was excited to get into more of the details surrounding the life of Henry Hill and his cohorts. The book kept me rivited as Pillegi and Hill guided me through a detailed analysis of the life of a mobster and did not pull any punches. I highly recommend this book

Summary: Wouldn't you want to be there...?
Review: Well I have always been fascinated by the mob due to my Italian ancestry and this book furthers it.Sure it was violent and nasty but wouldn't you love to be there? The time, the setting, the cars, the women... The mafia had it all and would it really be so bad to die at 35 or 40 after doing all that they did...? I don't think so...This is a must read if you are a wannabe mafia member like me...

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Wiseguy
Review: As far as biographies and journals go the book was excellent. It did hold my attention and i thoroughly enjoyed it. As far as mafia books go i do not think i would go as far as to compare it to the briliant masterpiece the Godfather. Pileggi is no Puzo

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A fast-paced, hard-hitting view of life in the mafia.
Review: This a fascinating glimpse inot a lifestyle many will never experience. Pillegi does an artful job of making the reader feel as if he is there, by revealing the mobsters lingo, dress, and secret hand-shakes(page 97). This is the first account of mafia life which does not glamourize the 'gangster' lifestyle. A must read for anyone who has ever played the lotto while wearing flip-flops and a salmon skinned coat(with or without feathers).-LB

Summary: The best book ever written on the Mafia.
Review: This book gives incredible insight to the inner workings of the Mafia, as well as being a fantastic read. This book, the basis for the movie "GoodFellas" puts the reader into the daily life of a "half-assed Mafia wiseguy" (it explains this terminology too).

If you have any interest in mafia-related topics, this book is a must read.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: the best mafia book ever
Review: I loved Goodfellas so I read Wiseguy.I am not big on reading but I could not put this book down. I've seen and read every movie, and book about the mafia I could find ,and this is the best
